Big fan of your mods, just got a small issue. Neither this mod nor your presence footsteps mod are recognized by the latest Forge unless I extract the zips.
Edit: Opps, I'm blind.
Still, there is no mod info on the mod screen. Just letting you know. Let me know if I can do anything to help.
Been using this mod for a little while, and it's pretty cool! But I had to mute the ambiences because they were just becoming too annoying! It's not because that the sounds themselves are annoying, but when and where they played. I could be able to see an ocean not too far away and yet I can't hear it at all. Not even some faint waves. But if I move just a bit closer WOAH all of sudden I hear waves crashing and seagulls screeching. I also find it annoying that wave sounds play even if I'm just next to a well or wheat farm. There was also a time when it was raining, so I went inside to escape from the loud wind, but the wind still kept playing despite there being no opening. The wind is also jarring when it's snowing; I'd expect wind like that when there's a blizzard, not some snow.
Sorry, this is a fantastic mod! But the ambience part just isn't for me.
I haven't used MAtmos since MC 1.2.5, and I'd like to know if the performance of this mod has been upgraded at all. I really liked it, but it was almost impossible to use with minecraft.
For the technical part, the major bugs in the previous version were mainly caused by some mistakes I did when trying to optimize the detection code.
There could still be problems now...
In this new version, there is new button in the menu for advanced options, at the bottom right.
In this menu, there are three new options for everyone:
- Allows you to disable low-altitude ambiances (louder cave rumbling when closer to bedrock) and high-altitude ambiances (wind on mountains) separately. This setting is dependent on expansions, so an expansion that chooses not to implement this thing will just ignore that setting.
- Overrides the current biome detection with a predefined biome. This is mostly useful on creative servers where the biome is mainly used to paint the grass. This is independent from expansions, so it will work with all expansions that actively use the biome value.
In the advanced menu there are new options.
There is an option to enable full data dumps. In the new version of MAtmos, only values that expansions need are computed for optimization purposes. Therefore I disabled data dumping in the previous version because forcing MAtmos to compute all the values required more work, and I was rushing for a release.
This requires a Minecraft restart, and enabling this option may make Minecraft slower because you're basically asking MAtmos to compute all values from all sheets, as opposed to a portion of it.
Still, when that option is disabled, you can press the "Generate PARTIAL data dump now", which will output the current state of the memory, which does NOT contain all the values from the sheets.
In order to make the data dump file lighter (it used to weigh 500KB), I am now using the JSON format instead of the XML format. So it requires a MAtmos designer update to read them.
The new MAtmos designer will exclusively use the <current folder>/mods/matmos/ path to fetch the reference file and data dump, regardless on whether you are using Forge or ModLoader.
Also, it will create the <current folder>/designer_sound/ for sounds exclusively. So you have to copy your sound files to this location to work on them. It will not use any sound from the mods/ folder, it is way too complicated to work with.
Once I install this mod the regular way with Forge I get no crash, the mod just... doesn't load? I have like 3 other mods, but they don't edit any sounds. Optifine, Better Sprinting, Inventory Tweaks. Help
[EDIT]Does exactly the same thing with Presence Foosteps. Sorry if it's something obvious that I'm doing wrong, but I just copied the exact file that downloads into my mods folder.

open the zip and place the 2 folders in the mods folder
I'm not really sure what happened here. I was switching resource packs in game and then I crashed. This has happened several times but I guess now I should say something about it. I'm using that most recent test build you posted a page or so back. Same for your Presence Footsteps mods. I had this crash before using either test build as well. I'm in 1.6.2 with Forge and Optifine (though I doubt either has anything to do with it - I could be wrong).

So, I like to dig into the ground and build my houses from there, expanding down and out, yet when I do this, my house is treated as a cave by this mod. The mod itself is awesome, but I'm just wondering if there is a way to make it recognize my underground home as something other than a cave. The sounds just don't match up with the house itself at all.
I get an error log at Minecraft start, can somebody tell me what is going wrong?

Hi, first of all, amazing mod, I've liked it from moment I heard of it, very impressive work!
Aside from that, two major issues have been bugging me though:
1.) After 1-2 hours of gameplay, the game crashes with an out-of-memory error while it didn't even go over half of the allocated memory
2.) If the above doesn't occur, after 1-2 hours all sound simply stops working (except for music). Then, when I press f3 + S (or switch resource pack) to reset/fix the sound, all blocks suddenly lose their texture with the resource-pack that was on. If I repeat f3+S a few more times, the textures sometimes return, or don't return at all, or minecraft simply crashes without an error window.
If I switch resourcepack though, default will be fine, but other packs will be missing various parts, or the game will simply crash on switching resource pack.
All of this doesn't happen when I turn off Matmos in-game when playing, so that's how I narrowed it down to this.
I'm using a resource pack with some new sounds as well, and I'm (partially) using the MSI expansion pack for Matmos.
I have to mention that, even before getting MSI, lots of versions ago in older builds of matmos, I also had this out-of-memory issue with the mod, but the whole sound dropping out thing is new.
I'm running the latest Java 32-bit on win 7 32-bit, and I have 1gb RAM assigned to Minecraft, which should be plenty.
I get an error log at Minecraft start, can somebody tell me what is going wrong?

You trying to run matmos as a resource-pack? Because it's not, you need a modloader like Forge for it to work, and it has to go in the "Mods" folder then.
Any idea on what can cause this problem to occur?

Yup, I experience #2. I was forced to remove this mod, which is a real pity.
You're right... This package is really first class... Lots of work went into creating these sounds and I for one very much appreciate all the effort put into it...

Big fan of your mods, just got a small issue. Neither this mod nor your presence footsteps mod are recognized by the latest Forge unless I extract the zips.Edit: Opps, I'm blind.
Still, there is no mod info on the mod screen. Just letting you know. Let me know if I can do anything to help.
I Made A Topic Out of My Mod Go Check it out!
Sorry, this is a fantastic mod! But the ambience part just isn't for me.
Keep scrolling. Just keep scrolling...
http://ha3.eu/x/MAtmosTEST_r26__1_6_2.zip
For expansion makers:
Download link for MAtmos Designer:
http://ha3.eu/x/MAtmosDesigner__r5.zip
[EDIT]Does exactly the same thing with Presence Foosteps. Sorry if it's something obvious that I'm doing wrong, but I just copied the exact file that downloads into my mods folder.

Any idea on what can cause this problem to occur?
You trying to run matmos as a resource-pack? Because it's not, you need a modloader like Forge for it to work, and it has to go in the "Mods" folder then.

Yup, I experience #2. I was forced to remove this mod, which is a real pity.
I did some poking around. If you avoid using escape while changing packs and close the menu manually by clicking, it won't crash.
You have to turn the music down to 0% in order to use the Music Addon from MSI.
WIP 128x 64x, SEUS support, Mod support in the pipeline TEKKIT, FTB, the more support the more mods!
You're right... This package is really first class... Lots of work went into creating these sounds and I for one very much appreciate all the effort put into it...
