Here's hoping. I love this mod, and I haven't actually been able to invest in 1.5.1 due to the odd silences freaking me out, not to mention 1.5.1 must have a bug that makes the sound radius much larger. I can't walk into a cave now without hearing every damn monster sound all at once anymore. It's really quite jarring.
Also would anyone know if matmos itself changes any record songs? I keep finding this rare occurence that Ward plays some weird song sung by a woman. Not a bad song, but it's definitely not ward playing. But I haven't ever been able to make it happen intentionally.
No, Matmos doesn't change the songs of the music discs, that'd be Audiotori's jurisdiction. But, even then, you'd need to actually have Audiotori (which hasn't been updated yet) as well as have a different song for ward for the mod to use. It might be some vanilla thing, I'm not sure since I haven't played ward much. I might get a ward disc and play it a few times to see if I get the same result.

Be my guest, I can confirm that it was the disk though, I haven't heard it since 1.4.7, but it was quite peculiar. I was playing Vech's Spellbound Caves the first time it happened, just got the disk set, slapped one in for some ambiance, which happened to be ward. But firstly, the easy to recognize intro to the song had not happened at all. Instead it had turned into a sort of slow up tune song. Then a female started singing. At first I thought it was something else on my computer running at the right time, and ward just didn't work for some reason. But sure as hell, when I popped it out, the song stopped. Popped it back in. started up with that song again!The third time through, it had gone back to normal, but that was definitely a bizarre event. And since, I've only heard it one more time on that map. Maybe I should check the map's files to see if there was anything that could have caused it. Never know. It is a Vech's map after all.
Only one question: is there any way I can adjust the volume of individual sounds? With my speakers, some sounds are a little to overpowering (sword hitting things), and others are far to subtle to be able to enjoy (or even perceive!) like the sound of wind outside, for instance. I didnt even know it existed without the speakers turned all the way up, which is way to high for other sounds.
There isn't a way you can through the mod itself, but you can reduce or boost the individual sounds in question with an audio editing program like Audacity (which is a free audio editing program), or adjust the volume of a set using the Designer. So, for instance, the sword sounds are too loud, you'd go into the Designer and tweak the volume of the sword swing Event.
Great mod, I hope to see this mod progress even further. And maybe you can do something with the twilight mod people and make background sounds like you have for the overworld and the nether.
How do I turn the fire sound down? Its way to load but I don't want to turn down the setting for all just fire..I don't know if torch or actual fire though...
Its a separate launcher for logging in and theres a setup button. You put the zip files in your mods folder then add and toggle them on and off in the setup. No editing of the minecraft.jar required.
but shaders usually don't need any "mod manager" like ModLoader, they work with vanilla minecraft.
right, I'm sure I could get it to work that way but I use Magic Launcher for the sole purpose of not having to deal with manually installing mods because I hated doing it when I used to play.
I got Matmos to work on the default minecraft.jar but when running that modified jar through Magic Launcher, Matmos ends up not working.
when it comes down to Matmos or Magic Launcher I'm going with the latter.
I never had issues caused by it before and fixing it didn't do anything. Matmos still doesn't work. D:

I deleted all Matmos files and tried a fresh install, but still nothing. even tried re-installing minecraft.

what I did get out of it was a buggy shaders mod install that I can't figure out how to fix and have been trying to for a ing hour. reinstalling the game over and over and starting from scratch and no luck.
see, all this is the reason why I liked the idea of magic launcher in the beginning. this is just frustrating me.
edit: yeah. this just isn't working.
and it turns out the reason I was having so many problems was because I did what the above person said and unchecked the external mod option for everything. game was crashing and everything.
putting them back got me back to where I was pre-matmos.
Anyways. no need to try and help me everyone. for whatever reason this just isn't working and it isn't worth pulling my hair out over.
Oh. Okay. When I heard that the shaders didn't work with modloader I didn't know that them being used alongside it would actually like break it!
I disabled the shaders and boom matmos now works.
I had heard of Forge but wasn't really sure how it worked. I tried using it the same way as modloader through magiclauncher but it tells me "1 error"
Do I need to do a manual install of it?
at this point I'd be willing to do a manual install of the main shaders mod if that could do the job too, but it seems like magic launcher has trouble with modified jar files. :S

I downloaded this mod & I really like it. With Faithful 32x32, it looks so realistic (well, for Minecraft standards anyways) that I feel like I could jump right into the game. I wish I could, but then creepers would kill me & feast on my internal organs. Anyways, this is a wonderful mod, although I'd suggest setting the default volume lower because my eardrums nearly burst when I first tried this mod out.
See the image below for my working configuartion. Don't worry about the "1 errors" thing, it should still work providing you have the correct mod versions installed in the correct order.
You could try just enabling Forge and MAtmos to start with and check that they work together, then enable Optfine and Shaders.
Finally everything works right. My launcher looks just like in the screenie and it all runs good.

All the GLSLShaderMod does is load "shaders". The most popular of which being Sonic Ether's (SEUS) - the one that adds shadows, waving objects, fancy water etc.
I'm aware but I dislike Sonic's shader pack. There are several others that do the same stuff but look different
