but I did see what looks to be a knock off of minecraft for sale in Steam.
You're probably referring to Ace of Spades, which isn't a knockoff of Minecraft. It's sort-of a cross between Minecraft and Team Fortress 2, but not quite.
Okay, I am so sick of looking through these posts and seeing impatient people getting up the person who is donating THEIR time so you can have more fun with a game. Is it really so hard to wait? I wait all year for my birthday, but do I yell and scream at it to come faster? No, because things like this are out of my, and your, control.
Have you ever had a look at the code for even a tiny mod? it is always upwards of 100 lines, and in a mod as large as this it would be significantly larger. As the list of features goes up, so does the update time as the owner must go through and fix it and find bugs and maximize compatibility and so on.
Also, on the note of being patient, what is so bad about Adfly? If you are really concerned about a virus, use Ad-block maybe? I donated 5 bucks to the developer once, so I don't feel bad about protecting myself by blocking her revenue from this mod. If you think what she is doing puts your computer at risk, do something to prevent it.
All in all, some time is a very small price to pay for something this person has put hours and hours of work into, and I think you should respect her right to postpone development of something she owns. We don't have to like, I certainly don't, but we at least have to stand it.
If any of you disagree, please tell me why, I like to hear what others have to think.

Well... Ok...
Everyone gets what you are saying, but in this instance the developer stated 'I will be releasing a 1.3 version' then essentially disappeared for 5 months (aside from the occasional cameo on YouTube or random stream)- And actually, presence on YT and streams made it apparent that the dev was alive and well but was simply choosing to remain silent.
The fighting all comes down to differences of opinion... some feel that a developer owes nothing to no one. Others feel that by participating in the community then you have a responsibility to the community.
Same things people have been fighting over since the dawn of time... Society vs. Anarchy.

Ever since she tweeted the amount of people complaining in this thread has plummeted to... almost nil.
So... yeah... your a bit late. We wanted communication, we got it, were happy.
She never said she would be releasing, she said she would be porting to 1.3.2. Which she did, sadly 1.4 came out before she was finished with it.
Valid. But if that's the case then she was playing word games and hiding behind technicalities... ...which I don't think she was. In the context that it was used I believe the average person would be inclined to interpret 'porting' to be synonymous with 'releasing'.

I lol'd at your comparison of this and the fight between Society and Anarchy...
And by the way, society and anarchy can coexist. Hierarchy and Anarchy exclude themselves.

I believe that Eloraam fully intended to port and release a version for 1.3, but due to the massive amount of re-coding that was required and the limited amount of time she had to work on it, she wasn't able to get it out before 1.4 released.
What you need to understand about Eloraam's "I will be porting RP to 1.3" tweet is that it was stated with the intent of releasing to the latest version of Minecraft. (Which, at the time, was 1.3.) When 1.4 was released, 1.3 became outdated and thus development was moved to the now-latest version.
As to the matter of her having been silent for so long, it certainly would have been nice to have had an update from her at least once every other week or so, but I'm not going to get bent out of shape just because she wasn't able to. (Or simply chose not to.) It's honestly not worth my time or energy to get worked up over it.
...and if you had taken my previous comments into consideration you'd know that the reason I mentioned that tweet was to start the 'and then she disappeared' timeline... It wasn't about the work involved or the version the release was attached to. It was about the silence and the duration.
The wait (or the fighting) would not have been nearly as bad if it hadn't been 'Today?' for 141 days... ...(and counting)... the number of days doesn't really matter all that much... it's the question hanging on every one of them that really sucked.
Oh... that sucks... I like microblocks to cover my wiring but not to build things with. I wish I could craft stairs like the vanilla stairs...
She won't be adding stairs because they don't need to be crafted. The microblock workaround works just as fine as the original stairs, but is just requires the double amount of clicks.
And please, who ever wan't to know the reason for the arguments can simply go back 200 pages and read through them all, but please don't start those again.
Actually the mod is not really big, neither content nor codewise. Don't exxagerate here, just because Elo is working alone and does not have the amount of time to spent coding like others do.
Cool point me at the other mods that do world gen, including large scale world gen, frames, power systems, logic, wiring, tools and transport all in one mod. Yeah I'd agree that code has to be less than a hundred lines it adds so little...........
Besides other parts, I can't remember a single mod bigger than RP2's "Control" and "Logic" modules.
Forestry, bees are fairly complex and require a bunch of code. IC2 also, I think, with it's variously complex energy production, crops all the machines, and then there's all the tools and toys.
RP does change more to vanilla mechanics (blocks were not supposed to move in large chunks) than most mods however, which is why it break when others do not. The reason it takes so long for it to update is because she's only 1 person and refuses help.
Do we know if there are going to be basalt stone brick stairs? Or basalt stairs of any kind?
I thought you could already make the stairs using the microblocks?
Besides a whole bunch of more bug fixes?
Yeah...you can...
Slab + corner = stairs.

minecraftcpw
@minecraftcpwThe game marches on: FML for 1.4.6 here:http://files.minecraftforge.net/fml/fml-universal-1.4.6-4.6.0.502.zip ....
minecraftcpw
@minecraftcpwForge is out for 1.4.6 as well.
@LexManos done an amazing job as ever..minecraftcpw
@minecraftcpwFor most mods this is a straight recompile..Straight recompile, meaning no update work whatsoever. Unless RP2 is not "most mods"....
keep it up elo!

Are these the same type of stairs that are made in the crafting table (like the vanilla stairs) or some sort of microblock workaround?

It's a microblock workaround :/

On another note, I'm glad to hear that the donations Eloraam received have allowed her to take a few days off from work to work on RedPower.
