all i did was install the wireless redstone/modloader with the installer
Permission based frequencies are on the TODO list. I think the first-come-first-serve approach is sub optimal though.
I haven't really decided the type of implementation I'm going to go for yet though, possibly priority based on server configuration.
Or possibly having frequency ranges based on an "antenna" type used during crafting, then restrict the types of antenna users are allowed to craft with based on server configuration. This would at least be approximately similar to how transmission restrictions are done in real life and it would mean privileged users can distribute restricted antennas if they wish.
I have something like this in WRCBE already. Basically out of the 5K frequencies different players can be assigned different ranges to use.
There is a public range and Player based ranges which are settable by OP's.
So all players can broadcast from 0-100 (or whatever) then say 500-1000 can be given to player1 and 900-1200 to player2. Both players can use the range 900-1000.
If you are "jammed" from a frequency then you are unable to set any device to that frequency or view it's state with the sniffer. You can use a device that someone else has set but if you pick it up and move it it resets to 0 so then you're out of luck again.

Is this good. Improvements?
I know you do. But it's a direction I'd like to avoid because while it makes sense programmatically, it doesn't in a real-life relation.
If I for example want to listen to chatter from the flight control tower's radio frequency, I can. I can practically transmit on that frequency too, but not legally.
So, like I said, restricting distribution of some sort of antenna item instead would be kinda neat. Not going to go into implementation specifics because it's a rough idea and I'm sure you know where I'm going with it.

I like this implementation, however from a server admin standpoint it can become a nightmare reminding people what frequencies they have assinged and removing those from people that no longer are playing. I like ali4z's idea also to keep it as real as possible. Also that is why I was thinking from an admin point of view Zeldo has it nailed down in TP pipes (pretty much no hands on). It is possible that you could claim that his is real too, Zeldo just has an "authentication factor" added in for transmission. You could claim it is "encrypted" aka "WiFi".

WiFi (IEEE 802.11) is on the link layer, this mod is about the physical layer (or, the base mod is anyways). If you want to add encryption on top of it, you're free to. But you can still listen to the signals even though they are garbled, because the ether is open. Like I said, all of it can be done programmatically, but it makes no sense.
Zeldo's implementation is for a significantly different use-case and can't really be used directly.

Any idea why I'm crashing? <3
Doesn't seem to be related with this mod. Maybe eloraam's thread would be a better place to query.
But if I were to guess; you'll probably need to use block ID's under 255.

Yeah, there seems to be a problem with 2 parts of his mod, but it's obsolete if I'm using wireless redstone, so removed it :smile.gif:
so im trying to create a hidden door. when using a lever to test it works fine but when attached to my t-latch it wont activate the pistons. the tx and rx are turning on but not moving the pistons
I mean I love this mod and use it every time I clear my bin out again, but nothing has all the features
Yeah. You can see a list of the planned new features under the TODO list.
v1.5 for example will introduce the "limited signal and range" and "string based frequency" addons as well as a bunch of internal improvements.
I'm not too interested in reinventing the wheel though, IE. doing something other mods already do.
Hey, i got "Could not extract C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\bin\tmp\com\jogg from JAR file" please help!!!
Try avoiding messing around too much with the jar before running the installer.
I have a suspicion that some archiving tools mess it up somehow.
That being said; I have yet to be able to reproduce this bug myself, which means I can't fix it. So... any information would be useful. Like what exactly you did to trigger it, and by exactly I mean in every little detail, such as what archiving tools you use, it's settings, java version, the more the better. I'll pay in smiley faces and e-hugs (no diamonds, I need them for my diamond igloo).
Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this, but the Zombe Mod seems to cause huge conflicts with Wireless Redstone. If I have both installed the transmitters and receivers are just purple blocks. I also think this could have to do with the jogg error, but I haven't confirmed it yet. I guess I will just use the fly command from Single Player Commands, since I think it works with Wireless Redstone.
I'm hosting a server myself with a few different mods, and this one is working.. just not the Remote add-on.
What do I need for it to work?
