Pretty neat mod :smile.gif:
As there is so many new mods coming out i thought that i would make my own too :smile.gif:
but right now grab this you will need it :
Really like this mod, but I think a few more things should be added before mystic ruins comes out...
Colored doors! To match your colored wood houses.
Slabs- of both the smooth and non-smooth versions of the stone!
Imagine the colored temples with the steps and all, in conjuction with stained glass mod they look truely divine!
He was working on the slabs but was having issues getting them to work.
He said in a livestream that he spent hours trying to get it to work and he just couldn't get it to work yet.
Wow out of all the ore/stone mods iv seen, yours is the one I want to try the most!
Unfortualy, its blockid's are in use by another mod in my game :sad.gif: And while that mod can be configured, it would hose my save game.
Can you please make your mods blockID's configurable? It would make it so much more compatable!
PS: Can you try and make a version compatable with Industrialcraft? What exactly has to be altered to be compatable?
Is the mystic stones mod compatable with IC? Since it does not add any tools..
I'm also planning to lower the durability of all tools, even the vanilla Minecraft tools. This is due to game balance, since with all the new metals and tools in Mystic Ores, you're Diamonds & Iron Ingots often last longer due to the player making tools from the new metals instead.
)
I have to disagree with this bit. I have found that adamantine and iridium are rare enough that a pickaxe made by either will expire before I have enough to make another pickaxe. So I don't think these two need lowered durability because they are rare enough that it balances out their durability, and you will still have to to go back to using diamond tools. I think that lowering their durability will almost make it not worth putting in the effort to find them. I also think that bloodstone and obsidian have good durability as they are for the amount of effort it takes to acquire enough for a few tools.
It's true that eventually you won't even be using iron tools that much because of mithril and diamond, but it doesn't matter because even with lowered durability iron can easily be stockpiled and basically never run out. In your mod iron has become more like stone and wood in that it's fairly easy to stop making them altogether in favor of better quality tools.
So basically what I'm saying is that diamonds still have their place because of how rare adamantine and iridium are, and that you will eventually stop using iron tools in the same way that you grow out of wood and stone tools.
My question, I have installed the Ores and the rare stones, and have found
Mithril and Iridium, but after 5 hours RT of mining I am yet to find any of
the other ones, Verdite, Adamantine, Soulstone or Bloodstone.
I havent found any stones at all, Emerald, Sapphire, Topaz or Amethyst, am
I just unlucky or have I done something wrong on the install?
Thanks for any help,
TG
I apologize for the confusion. I still have not gotten around to making a reference image that explains where to find the metals/gems.
The Emerald, Sapphire, Topaz & Amethyst only generate above level 50, with Amethyst generating only above lvl 80. This is to create a unique way to find them, instead of branch mining as you would to find diamond, the best way to find the mystic gems is to explore at nighttime and look for the telltale glow of the gems on the sides of mountains.
Verdite is found from sea level (64) and above. Adamantine is found on the same levels as diamond, but in rough half the amount, so for that one you have probably just been unlucky. As for Bloodstone and Soulstone, they are only found in the nether, with Bloodstone only found around the same level as the lava pools toward the bottom of the nether. Black Soulstone is the most common, followed by Red Soulstone, with Blue Soulstone as the rarest.

Thank you for the playtesting feedback, I often have to spend way more time coding than I do playing so I often have to just go by the numbers in the code to determine how rare something is, or how often a tool wears out. I still think I might lower the durability of certain tools slightly, like Diamond and possibly Iridium. My idea for Iridium is actualy to make it faster but lower durability than Adamantine. That way you have an important choice: "Do I turn this Adamantine Ingot into Iridium to make it faster, even though it will weaken it, lowering the durability?"

AHAAAAAAAA!!! No need to apologize AB, I will go test this out tonight. I actually
gathered 17 diamonds whilst looking so theres a plus to not finding the Gems :smile.gif:
Again, thank you for an excellent couple of mods, very well made.

No problem I enjoy playing your mod and I'm more than happy to provide feedback that will actually be considered.
My idea for Iridium is actualy to make it faster but lower durability than Adamantine. That way you have an important choice: "Do I turn this Adamantine Ingot into Iridium to make it faster, even though it will weaken it, lowering the durability?"
The way I interpret it, is that iridum and adamantine are so rare and it's so hard to find that I naturally expect it to last long as opposed to burning out quickly like obsidian/bloodstone, which are more common and easier to obtain. If I wanted to go for pure speed I would go for obsidian/bloodstone, and if I wanted something legendary I'd go for the real prize, adamantine/iridium which are in another class of material, like an upgrade in every way. Maybe not as fast but nearly as fast and more durable, but much harder to acquire. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

That actually makes a lot of sense. I think I was leaning that way for Iridium because I really loved the fast tools, but like you mentioned, Obsidian and Bloodstone already fill the need for really fast, low durability tools. Either way, I will make Iridium more rare next version, but I might go back to my original concept for the Iridium tools: Slightly faster than Adamantine, but even more durable.
I am about to start streaming Live on http://www.qubetubers.com if you would like to join me. I will be showing the work I have completed so far on the Mystic Ruins mod. This means hunting for buried treasure and seeking out ancient ruins! (This will be easy as they are very common for testing purposes right now, and there are glowstone beacons that tell where to dig, once again for testing purposes, lol)
EDIT: The stream is no longer live but I hope some of you guys got to see it.
I'm not sure if this is my mod configuration or what, but every time I try and use either a Mithril Axe or Shovel my game crashes. I noticed just now in the compatibility list that 'ToolUtils' was not compatible with this mod, however I have it installed and all my mods still function properly.
I do get an error message but Minecraft displays for half a second, then crashes. Here is my mod configuration:
Loaded Mods:
Mystic Ores
Mystic Stones
Mo' Creatures
TooManyItems
ToolUtils
Modloader
AudioMod
CAF Mod (Improves lag, and the 'choppiness' when switching between render distances.)
Wildgrass Collection
GUI Api
I am sure it is just ToolsUtils conflicting, but could someone confirm this? Is anyone else having trouble with the Mithril Axe and/or Shovel? Or other tools for that matter?

I have all those mods except for tool utils, CAF, and wildgrass. So I'd imagine your conflict is coming from one of those.
the green metal and mithril need to be rebalanced a bit
as it stands the green one is to uncommon compared to where it falls in the tier and mithril is slightly too common
also plz fix mystic stone so that they are effected by what type of pickaxe you are using

Verdite is really common if you look in mountains. It spawns a little above sea level and doesnt spawn below that. It's meant as a starter material before you have much iron. Also I do agree that mithril is a bit too common.
Oh man, the ruins mod sounds amazing *A* (any idea when the other updates will be added too?)
.. also what is Soulstone used for anyway.
Soulstone blocks themselves cannot be acquired without hacking them in, but when you find Soulstone in the Nether, you can break it to get a random assortment of items, with Blue Soulstone giving the best types of items.
Mystic Ruins mod is coming along nicely, but I'll still be releasing an update for Mystic Ores as soon as its ready, regardless of whether Mystic Ruins is ready for its v0.1 release or not.
So far of the 3 types of ruins, I have the first type almost completely done! They will be the ruins that only spawn in grassy areas. At least 80% of the time they will be underneath layers of dirt and will only be discovered by sheer luck, the other 20% of the time they will spawn on the surface and can be found by exploring. Each ruin spawns at least 2 treasure chests underground. Sometimes they end up just sitting in a cave under the ruins, but most of the time they end up inside dirt or stone below the ruins. There are still some glitches, like pieces of ruins sometimes spawning floating in the air, or sitting right on the surface of the water, but today I've started adding code that checks for air blocks below the ruin and lowers it accordingly to help fix that glitch. The first release of Mystic Ruins will probably only include the regular grassy ruin type, and the desert ruins and underwater ruins will probably come in a later release.
As for an actual release date for Mystic Ores v0.3, I will not set a specific date, but hopefully it will happen by this coming weekend. (about 4-6 days from now) Chances are, version 0.1 of Mystic Ruins will also be released at that time, barring any serious problems.
Hey Axe I watched your livestream a couple hours ago and you mentioned armor taking up too many item slots so you were considering not doing at all. I think if you could only pick one metal to do armor for then it would probably make the most sense to go with mithril. Verdite is too weak and easily replaced by iron, and Adamantine and Iridium are too rare. Though it would be cool to have at least adamantine armor too.

Pistons Mod should work fine with Mystic Ores/Stones
