To be exact, just counting the microblock system, not counting different positioning, there's around 1176 blocks
it gets up to 1320 when you include the various jacketed cable
plus 19 kinds of wire, and 17 more kinds of bundle; plus five kinds of tube. 1361
29 machines (including frame blocks), and 16 lights. 1406
And finally 25 logic gates
Giving a final total, assuming I'm counting everything correctly of 1429 blocks that can be placed in the world
Plus 17 paint cans and 17 more paintbrushes, 16 colors of Lumar, 2 batteries, a sword, 53
3 colors of each basic tool plus a sickle and handsaw of every applicable material (5*3+8+5) 81
30 materials (including several ingots), 1 new kind of seed, 2 screwdrivers, and a voltmeter
so 115 more items; not counting that nearly every block you can have in RP2 is represented by an item in your inventory (when multiblocking any block that has a shared ID has to have an independent item that is responsible for the block's creation, cuz vanilla and ****)
Thus, RP2 has between ) 1544 and 2,973 relevant objects, depending on the accuracy of my counting and what you care about.
Trains on the other hand has about a half dozen blocks including the tracks, and a bunch of train items which never result in blocks; only entities. (+ a handful of other stuff)
Having some problems with this mod on my smp server. as far as i can tell things work fine except for the zeppelins.
Problem A. is that the zeppelin will not fly straight, it flys sideways or at an angle and cant be turned hardly at all either by using the mouse or the keyboard. (when you try the turning is very jerky and does not face you the direction you should be going)
Problem B. I think is a known bug but thought i would list it anyways.. that is the zeppelin does #$^%$ loads of damage when landing.

The compound curves would be a pain, even the SD70 I did, we're having problems importing the compound angled peices of the nose.
If lego can do it, so can you! if you are talking about the texturing part. lego never coded a diesel train for a minecraft mod. i think that lego made an F7. all i remember, is that it was a design probably from the same period(i has the shape basic shape), and it was Santa Fe. they made a crome(where the grey would be) version too. man i wanted that train........

is the genesis the one you see in the acela pics? similar to a TGV? also, when you make the genesis, make sure it has it's matching(in terms of shape, and possibly color) passenger cars. cause if you don't, it would be all alone, in a sea of old-fasioned passenger cars.
P.S. is a "livery" the colors of a train line? such as BNSF, or Union Pacific? cause i keep getting confused when any one adds "livery" to their post.
I really hope Spitfire has figured out the ID thing and can unlock 1000's of IDs like you guys suggested.

Yes; Liveries are the actual color scheme or "corporate identity" usually painted on Aircraft, Trains, Boats, etc. Heritage schemes are special ones usually denoting an event or special occasion.

Was also going to do Canadian Pacific, but unfortunately I don't know what the ID situation is. Waiting for more word from Spitfire.
If Spitfire has deciphered the issue, then I'll also do CP just for completeness sake; representing the major North American railroads.
Also, depending on time, I may do alternate PNG's and you can replace the texture yourself by doing a swap.
Silly question, have you considered working on F7 locomotives? I'm sure the curves would be hard...
And I've never personally liked 1950's-1960's diesel designs.

cool video, but you even showed the trains which in not present in mod now. its just for testing (old GP7, GP40, Small Steam Europe)
