Well, I tried deleting extra item blocks i thought would cause the crash such as cobble stairs etc.. It didn't help, neither did starting a new world. Does anybody have any steps to follow. There also seems to be no errors whatsoever.
Can different slabs be stacked together? If not, then is that possible to add or would it require the creation of to many block ids?
I would love to have different floor and ceiling colors without adding an extra block of hight to my buildings.
While it is possible it would require an additional 32 block IDs to implement it (without wool slabs) and be very time consuming to implement. Don't expect it.

Can I get a DownLoad just for the Doors, Hatches, Gates PLEASE
Open the configuration and set the following options to these values...
I really like this mod and will there be support for smp or does it support that?
It's possible it would work with SDK's ModLoader MP, but since I don't play smp I've never tested it. While I will eventually make it work in smp it's not high priority and would not happen before version 4.0 as I am planing to make changes to redstone, fire and liquids which would all require special handling of smp.

I'm not sure how you code, in obfuscated or not, but if it's with MCP, and as such unobfuscated, could you upload your source code somewhere? I'm the author of more doors, and though i've been working on a double door feature, I'd like to see how you did it.
Also thought i'd let you know, i did try decompiling the mod but the classes and such are still obfuscated >.> annoyance. Well thanks for any response, i've no need to bug you about it anymore.
I use MCP, it should only obfuscate the name's of minecraft classes and methods, however variable/parameter names are not saved in the compiled code and as I use a great deal of constants and switch statements so without the names and comments I doubt I could decipher the decompiled code .
I will send the source for the doors only in a PM to you, use the code as you like but please don't share it.

Yeah, I used this mod as-well unlike the last revision this one seems to crash when i load my world. Is there anything that could cause my world to crash? Because, even the last one never crashed. Also, how many other complaints about this crashing when loading their world, are there? It's very frustrating, I even tried to edit the .props file and no luck.
If the .minecraft\ModLoader.txt doesn't show an error then I need a save file that crashes. You can get a free account at Mediafire or DropBox to upload the save.

Doh.
It only crashes if the blocks are in a chest or your inventory. I think that's right.
Nope only chests.

Another comment after looking deeper into your mod, other than double door enabling as well as fence connections, all of these have been made previously. I don't mean to disrespect, frankly from looking at the code i see you know what you're doing, but generally other modders have a tendency to look down on that one, to put it simply neither tehkrush or searge were all to happy with the release of my mods, though i specifically tried to add functionality or capability that they didn't have so i could justify it as a unique mod. If you wish to get ideas or talk to other modders about what can/should be done i sincerely suggest getting an irc client and going to #risucraft and #mcp-modding on the esper irc server. Tons of modders meet there to discuss/help/troll and overall if you show you're not a newb and actually intelligent (which from your code and wording you seem to be) they accept you pretty graciously.
With that said, well done on your mod. It's very professionally done and i love the way you avoided mojangs "do not distribute out code" rule for the most part (save one class but w/e).
Good luck in your future work, and let me know if i can get access to that unobfuscated code >:biggrin.gif:
I always intended to modify doors, redstone, fire, water, and lava extensively. However I needed a simpler place to start, and I wanted to consolidate the different fences, slabs, and stairs to use as few Block IDs as possible, something which I have not seen another mod do.

Of course he knows what hes doing. He made this mod.
But, a conflict with the better logs and Nature overhaul.
In nature overhaul, When you cut down a tree, it destroys all the logs and they all fall.
When I added this mod, and had better logs enabled, this feature no longer works.
EH. I like both of these things, as the better logs does half of what "Vertical Planks" mod, does, without adding the extra blocks.
Dont know what you could possibly do about this, and Clint is having a tantrum at the moment (The creator of nature overall).
If you set useBetterLogs to false it will fix Nature Overhaul, but you will lose horizontal logs. You shouldn't even need to remove horizontal logs beforehand.

Alright. I uploaded my world to megaupload. If there are/aren't any problems just tell me and tell me what they are if there are any errors. But here it is up for download to fix the errors. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=V0DDA24P

NVM, I just made it a zip. It's a pretty cool world, the main base is over by the main railway building. You'll know it when you see it, it floats and has many tracks going in and out.

Yea, I clicked on your file and saw it was a 7-Zip, so I used Archive Utility (Mac version) to zip mine.
Is it possible to use your horizontal logs to fix already or, at the very least, newly generated trees?
[edited] after reading some previous posts I realized that they do fix trees, I just assumed that that didn't.
Also out of curiosity what all do you have planned for redstone?
As a side note, you should give Kaevator some tips to make Super slopes more simple, right now you have to make his slopes and corner slopes all separate instead of them automatically making corners.

Unfortunately (or Fortunately depending on your outlook) both of your worlds work fine for me. Have you tried loading you world with no mods installed (after backing-up as modded blocks would be removed) and with just my mod installed (also after backing-up).
My guess is that either the problem is with you changing the block ID's in my configuration, another mod, or a corrupted jar (reinstall all mods into default minecraft.jar).
I'd assumed that when two of you had a problem it was with my doors (which were very buggy while I was developing them) and they were throwing an error due to numerous sanity checks I put in place while debugging and didn't remove before release.
EDIT: maybe post your BetterBlocks.props and ModLoader.txt after a crash.

I'm glad it's working because I don't know what problem with with trees your referring to :wink.gif:
As for Kaevator, auto-cornering stairs are relatively simple compared to doing so with slopes, which require writing a custom block render. In addition changing them to auto-corner would make is mod incompatible with all worlds created with the non-cornering version. That said if he asks I'll give him the source code for my stairs.

I'm almost certain it's not my mod causing your problem. If you have reinstalled your mods on a clean minecraft.jar and still believe my mod to be the problem then you need to follow the, unfortunately complicated, instructions in this post, and post the result of running minecraft from the command-line.
I tried a new minecraft.jar but modloader wouldn't stop crashing so I decided to go try and see if I can disable the doors and see what happens.
[EDIT] Well I'll try tomorrow. Thanks for the help. Good night.
I know I can disable the better logs. I did. Hence why I posted.
Though, I wasnt clear on what I was saying, apparently.
Could you find a way for TREE logs to behave as is, and PLACED logs to work as betterlogs does?
Or some sort of merge or something with the nature overhaul, as I do like what they both do.

Sorry, I understand now.
Unfortunately I can't think of a way to make BetterLogs compatible with Nature Overhaul with out a lot of work on my part. I'll look into it and if I can create a quick fix I will, but I wouldn't expect it.
EDIT: By looking at Nature Overhaul's source code I can see that his log class does a lot more than just allow trees to be cut down in a single swipe, it's also partly (or wholly) responsible for naturally killing trees. I would need to maintain a special compatibility patch that I would need to update with each new version of Minecraft, BetterBlocks, and Nature Overhaul. This would be a great deal of work to support a Mod I don't use and have no interest of using (though what he has done is quite impressive.) My advice is to just disable BetterLogs. Sorry.
But i find a little mistake i think.
When i transform 2 Wood Blocks i get 4 Fences. When i sell the Fences back i get 4 Wood Blocks.
That works with all wood fences. Haven't tested the rest but i think its the same.
Is that intended?
Keep up the good work you are bookmarked ;-)
Edit: hmm i think the problem is that you can't give a half block back to the player so maybe scale down the recipe that 2 wood blocks = 2 Fences? or 4=4 to make it faster to create. just a idea ^^
You need to be clearer about what your trying to tell me. Are these the slabs (half-blocks) or fence recipes? And when you say wood do you mean planks or logs? If your taking exact quantities I don't think any recipe I add uses those numbers, or are you talking about ratios?

Sorry about that
I mean the fence recipe needs two and you get four Fences
When you trade one Fence back you get one
when you trade all four Fences back you get four so two more as you needet to creat them.
I hope i explained it clearer this time.
There is a bug here so thank you for finding it, it will be fixed in the next version. However your numbers seem to be off.
All my fence recipes require 6 (not 2) of any given block in the fence shape like...

The log variation give you 6 fences (not 4) which when undone gives you 2 logs each for a total of 12 (not 4) which is a bug.

I just want to say that I simply LOVE this BetterBlocks mod!! I know there are many mods out there that do some of the things yours does, and a few mods out there that do others, but there is no other mod that combines it all with so few ID's while offering such great features. Your auto-corners are amazing, and I love them to pieces! This feature was such a welcome surprise that I'm torn as to whether this or the joining of dissimilar slabs is my favorite.
I initially downloaded your mod because of the ability to have two different kinds of slabs stack together, which basically means that I can have a wooden floor upstairs and a white wool or snow ceiling downstairs without adding an additional layer!
Also, your config file is fairly intuitive and I didn't have any problems installing the mod. I have about 40 mods installed and it all worked well. Of course, I use Minecraft Extended, so any block ID that I can change/move has already been moved from the standard range - which gives me alot of free blocks when intially loading up new mods.
Maybe having an initial config file as an optional download would help us set the numbers and options initially, prior to loading (and crashing)? Of course, that will only help those of us that use something like ListID and know which blocks are free. Either way, it's not that big of a deal and probably won't eliminate the 'black screen' posts.
I hope I don't seem ungrateful, but I was wondering if it would be too much trouble to request a couple of things? No rush on them, just maybe something to think about for the next release:
1. Glass stairs. It would look really nice with my all-glass solariums and arboretums.
2. Full height fence gates. I know then they would be doors, but your gates look so good with the fences, and using a regular door doesn't line up at all and certainly doesn't have that "fence" look. I know that I am currently able to stack one on top of the other, but doing so seems to make the bottom gate dissappear. Of course, that might just be me and if so, let me know and I'll work to determine the incompatibility.
Thank you so much for creating and sharing this mod. You rank right up there in the top of the talented modders on this site!
