God I need to get back into regularely playing MC with your mod, all these little details make me drool.
This will probably be the only place I can say it cause I will never join your official forum for fear of your wrath. At least here I can just say it and then run and hide.
What would be your stance on "adopting" the functonality of an old (and small) beta-1.2.5 mod?
I totally understand your position on the flood of bad suggestions you get, but I've been biting my
tongue on this for at least a year if not longer.
I loved this mod to death, and I always wanted to play it alongside Better than Wolves, but alas I never could. The weapons were effective and in-theme with Minecraft in my opinion, and I got rather good at manually loading my iron flintlock in the crafting grid while being chased by an angry mob. Only the diamond pepperbox had multiple shots.
There, I did it, I mustered up enough courage and now I can at least say "I asked."

I probably would've gone with the old Zipline mod. More for the bridges than the ziplines though. It died back after 1.7.3 as well
Damn you, FC, well played! the snow makes it MUCH more difficult.
you should have seen how it got when it happened with me and I didn't notice for a long time. doubt there's something alive in a 1000 block radius of my base
Eh thought as much, I'm guessing it conflicts with the goals of hardcore hunger and movement?
No, it would require annoyingly complex code for what it does, which I suspect is why it probably died in the first place.
It's just not worth it to write and maintain that kind of thing for MC.
When I first saw that mod back in the day I remember thinking it was very nice, but also thinking "good luck with sorting out the bugs". If I remember correctly, someone also asked me to adopt the functionality when the mod was cancelled and I wanted absolutely no part of that kind of ongoing nightmare
Some ideas, while cool, are just not practical, which is why I suspect nobody has done anything similar since.
Yeah, I've heard you mention how joyful working on the pulley and platform systems can be.
I guess as cool as rope bridges and ziplines could look, they'll just never be worth the development time. Especially when the movement functionality of ziplines can already be achieved with minecrafts (with more freedom really) and solid bridges are easy.

Creative use of mod blocks can also make them look very cool:
Wow, that whitestone bridge, and especially the stonebrick aqueduct, are just badass.
I was gonna say that rope bridges would still beat out other bridges in something like a tree fort build, but then I turned the page and saw Rawny's suspended bridge (and as you pointed out, the holy crap spiral staircase).
Hey FC, how dows this sound?
In order to make exploration less daunting and more rewarding moving a boat with a sail equipped greatly increases speed, but reduces handling. Helpful for long distance ocean crossings along fairly open waters, very difficult to avoid crashing using this method in rivers and bays. Boats also require a slimeball in the center square of crafting as a sealant so the boat doesn't leak, making boats a bit more valuable, and crashing a bit more consequential.
Alright then. For my own curiosity, do you know offhand what part of the Minegunner mod was annoyingly complex? I don't recall Minegunner having any movable blocks like the Zipline mod.

But thank you for your time, and may BtW prosper!
I believe he's turned down the implementation of any sort of gunpowder-based weaponry, as such really wouldn't add anything meaningful to the mod. We already have ranged weapons in the form of the Bow and Compound Bow, firearms are considered to be just a few steps beyond the mod's endgame powerlevel.

No, I was referring to Zipline with that comment. kazerima has it right above with why I wouldn't want to include gunpowder based weaponry. It would be trivially easy to implement that bit.

ha ha i kinda imagine. yea the snow makes it a LOT harder to detect. a 2-deep trench halts it's progress though.

Which?
The mod in question is the old "Ye Olde Minegunner" mod: http://www.minecraft..._hl__minegunner

That's ok, I wouldn't have gone with either

Ah ha, that other thing, effort vs benefits. Well, thanks for answering..
No worries. I already have enough with my own personal variety of that kind of nightmare with the Pulleys and Platforms
You'll notice that moving block mods in general are fairly cursed, and that even some major mods start to rapidly go downhill after their inclusion.
