Dude, he never mentioned using a bed to turn night into day. Part of the point of Hardcore Bedding was to get rid of the idea of changing your spawn point. It kinda prevents people from seeing a dungeon, setting their spawn a 30 sec walk away and being able to get back to their stuff quickly if they die. It also encourages players to use rail networks which were made obsolete in ssp by beds.
Automating egg farms only requires hoppers to use which aren't very far in the tech tree. Everything else thats needed to automate them can be found in vanilla minecraft.
And finally, the BTW forum is not a democracy, republic or anything like it. Its a dictatorship. You don't like it? Too bad.
actually I still use in SSP vanilla railway networks to connect my bases... however no point continuing the discussion about setting the spawn if we totally disagree about that argument can't be made a mediation...
yeah the hopper thing is still higher tech than trow wheat to cows anyways... so we're both right
and about the forum part I actually edited the post...
There is actually a reasonable answer to this question. According to the moderators (mentioned about 50 pages back somewhere), there are 200 - 500 moderated comments not visible in this thread. Those comments are the trolling and real flaming that isn't appropriate to keep publicly visible. If you actually read through the thread and look at the stuff that hasn't been moderated, you'll see this thread has been a bit of a nightmare of entitled whining, demands for compatibility and the same suggestions over and over and over again.
The short of it is, if you were to go through the 1400+ pages of this thread, chances are reasonably good that you'd find every single one of your suggestions already present in one form or another. The long term thread members have gotten a bit short with suggestion posts since they rarely present anything new. Polite responses to suggestions pretty much ended a long time ago since polite responses just lead to attempts to revise or sell suggestions.
The standard now is sarcastic or simply honest responses. The approach might be rude but that's just how this thread has evolved over time. As for the private forum policy, that's the right of every private forum. There's no obligation to allow free speech in a private space, real or digital. Free speech is a public right absolutely, but forums aren't public spaces.
It's a case of sheep following the leader. They see FC being tough and not taking crap from anyone, so they adopt their leader's attitude. That attitude is fine if it's just the leader since they have actual power, but when it spreads through the ranks of the minions it gets kinda ugly...
edit: yeah Psion is right it only apply to public places... just a little disappointed for all the harsh I'm getting by just suggesting things... thought FC's comment (even if unpleasant to me) would have put a stop to this... never happened to me before from any other thread to get that much hate... usually if an idea is posted it gets at least constructively criticized by other members and both denied ignored from the mod author...
why so much hate in here guys?
Hate? Hardly, this IS constructive criticism. In that it's pointing out that your suggestions aren't very good, because they're all about making the game easier or putting a lot of work into creating an unnecessary feature.
Being told your ideas aren't good is hardly hate. No need to get all upset that people don't immediately spend their free time implementing your spur of the moment ideas to the detriment of years long work, that's life. We don't give out suggestion participation trophies here :).
But they do suck. Why should people waste their time explaining why exactly they suck when you find out yourself by browsing this thread/BtW forum (when it's up). Your time is not more precious than theirs.
actually I don't see why someone who's not a dev of the mod should comment on other users suggestion... if you don't wanna make constructive criticism why answer the post in the first place? you could have avoided all this mess around the pages just by ignoring my post... I would have waited for an answer from FC for a week maybe and then come to the assumption he saw the post and decide it wasn't worth an answer...
but you no "we are the FC army... anyone is not with the mod from the beginning is s**t" let's go insult him... I don't let anyone insult me not even "lightly"... so deal with it... you can't win as far as I can't win... because an argument between people who completely disagree it's pointless and none can actually win... but if you really want to continue slam your heads on a wall... you're free to do so.
I think his point about the chickens is valid though. With the recent hardcore chicken changes chickens have lost much of their appeal as an early game food source. Seeds are hard to come by and collecting the eggs manually is a massive pain. To the point where I don't really even farm chickens until I can fully automate it. I think the bigger issue here might be the fact that cows and pigs are so easy to farm. At least in comparison. I'm not sure exactly where the solution lies but I tend toward making it harder to farm other animals somehow. This would keep the emphasis on automation. Make meat more of a luxury food source that you would only eat regularly if you're established (which is fitting since it's the best food in the game). And would provide additional challenge rather than taking away the challenge that FC worked so hard to provide with hardcore chickens in the first place. That said I'm sure FC has already though of this but he has limited time and has to prioritize.
OK, look. You made some suggestions that, to be very honest here, were not very good, and in any case have been suggested many times before. That's not good, but you were honestly trying to be helpful. The problem is that when you were told that they were not good ideas, you didn't go away. You still haven't gone away, and at this point it's just annoying. You're not getting anything accomplished here. So please, for your own sake, just give it a rest before moderators have to get involved. Also, you use '...' way too much, and it's bugging the heck out of me.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
May the Force be with you. Unless you're a troll, in which case, may the farce be with you.
I think that's what I said. Pigs and cows are too easy. I think they should be an overall loss compared to bread where you have to trade overall nutrition for nutrient density.
And I think confining the player to weaker early game sources of food would be excellent. Assuming that the food system was given some kind of overhaul to make it non-trivial. Mojang seems to be working in the opposite direction though.
there is a mod that have a nice dynamic regarding this... the fossil archaeology mod it's... used for a different propose (bring in game saber tooth and mammals) but the base concept is that the animal stay in a pregnant state fore some time before giving birth... during that time it can't be breed anymore...
Edit: @Last_Jedi_Standing
believe me or not I'm the last person that wants to continue this thing... but this is an issue of manners. And something I really can't ignore.
By the way sorry for the "..." I know them gets annoying after some times. but I can't help it I always use them and find it difficoult to stop.
man you really should buy a dictionary there's no way "your ideas sucks" can be identified as constructive in any way...
Well, considering I didn't just say that. I would agree. IN fact you even acknowledged one of my criticisms was valid. I know you aren't going to read back a few pages to check if your suggestions are new but surely you should be willing to read the actual posts you're responding to, no? IN fact EVERY suggestion you posted I gave you a solid reason why it wasn't a good idea. What exactly do you want out of constructive criticism? The ideas at their core are bad, we can't just tinker with it to make it good. We can tell you why it's not good, which is what we did.
This isn't a "FC's army thing". There are certainly valid suggestions that come up, and they are responded to with ideas to develop them further. But ideas that consist of "undo what you did", "make it easier", and "spend a lot of work for little gain" are easy to spot and have no where to develop into.
Re: "Issue of manners". I feel like you're thinking people not agreeing with you is the same as people being rude. You know those two things aren't the same right?
yeah I'm sorry I got the wrong guy. you're actually the one that said something constructive even if wrapped in sarcasm... but so many people just told it was stupid idea. that I ended up forgetting about you... still yes it wasn't to me an issue with people not agreeing with my idea, but the way they expressed it.

I made a quick trough style chicken farm and use the extra seeds from wheat to feed them manually. I find that's one nighttime activity now in my early game. Fried eggs are my early food, at least while I'm building up the cow pop. On my new game I found a bunch of chickens early,
If I wanted to be a **** about this I'd say that flowerchild stole the idea from them.
[sarcasm]Because clearly harnessing the power of the wind is something no one would ever think of.[/sarcasm]
Haha.
I IC2 I used them because they're a good starting point for power but it was always, "WTF, a little fan thing? Lame."
FC does it right. A windmill. A huge bladed windmill made from wood and cloth, not an iron box with a little fan in it. Though of course IC2 makes no attempt to fit into the style of the game, it's (IMO) intended to be cool stuff. One of the reasons I consider BTW the best mod ever is because the stuff it brings to the game fit into two categories, "Yep, that fits right into the style." and "That's how the game should have been all along." Mewchanical power goes perfectly with swords and alchemy for example, the concept works.
Not really knocking IC2 (we had a tekkit server going for a while and I had much fun gaming all the inconsistencies) but I enjoy BTW a whole lot more, especially now that it's SMP. The BTW stuff has replaced our Tekkit server and personally I've gotten waaaaay more good playtime out of it already than I did with two versions of Tekkit (even after we nerfed EE.)
I'll admit we're weak though, we have hardcore buckets turned off. *shameface*

no no no no no.
The IC windmill is a BLOCK. Flowerchild uses a specific entity with a specific look and a specific purpose
The RP ones use sails pretty much identical to FC's.
I've seen 2 or 3 incarnations of bellows and crucibles and they were all different from each other. The RP one uses BTW sails in a slightly different configuration. Again, i have seen Crucibles and cauldrons, and they did not use even remotely similar textures.
Besides, i do not really see a point for a wood-and-cloth windmill in a mod that uses SOLAR PANELS. Have you ever seen a modern windmill?

MCpatcher works fine with BTW. Make sure you only check the HD textures and HD font options, leave the rest off.

That made me lol thinking of how it would be if a woman instantly gave birth after sex irl. SURPRISE!!!
I find it best not to dwell on thoughts as scary as that one.
