[*:1h9m6c2i]Now completely Modloader compatible! Ballistic Knife, IndustrialCraft, and all other Modloader mods will work with the items as well as blocks!
[*:1h9m6c2i]Installation has been simplified: Less files to install, less conflicts with other mods, and you no longer have to overwrite any folders or items.png (If you already have the mod, I would recommend installing on a new .jar with modloader and any other mods you want installed, but not this one.
Spicecraft adds new items, crafting recipes, and ore to minecraft, including salt, curry, jerkey, noodles, and more. The download link is at the bottom.
You MUST have Risugami's Modloader to use this mod, available here:
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS IN THE README!If you have problems, please post a compete error report along with your post. Instructions on how to do this are here.

NEW ITEMS!
Salt
Salt is an ore found underground. It drops Table Salt, in a style similar to Glowstone. Salt is a basic ingredient of many recipes, and can even enhance basic food. Table Salt can be recrafted into salt blocks like this:
Salted Fish
Salted Fish will stack up to four, and each piece heals 1 heart. This is an efficient way of healing small amounts without wasting food.
Jerky
Similar to Salted Fish, Jerky is crafted from salt and pork. It stacks up to three, and each piece heals 2 hearts.
Sliced Bread
Sliced Bread is crafted from bread. It stacks up to four, and each piece heals 1/2 of a heart. It is an ingredient in sandwiches.
Sandwich
The pork sandwich is made from sliced bread, pork chops, and salt. It stacks to two, and each piece heals 3 and 1/2 hearts.
Curry Powder
Curry Powder is made from seeds, and is an ingredient in curry.
Noodles
Noodles are crafted from wheat and a bowl. They heal 6 hearts, and the bowl is not consumed when they are eaten.
Curry
"I AM A DWARF AND I'M EATING CURRY FROM A BOWL. HUNGRY HUNGRY DWARF, EATEY EATEY BOWL."
-Yogscast (Maybe)
Curry is Spicecraft's most difficult to craft item, as well as its tastiest. Curry is made from pork, curry powder, salt, and noodles. It heals 10 hearts, and does not consume the bowl when it is eaten.
Known Bugs:
Curry stacking, possibly. Curry should not stack.
Future Updates:
-[DONE]Complete Modloader support (Modloader's new system allows custom items, so I'll be able to make the items compatible with other mods soon, maybe in a week or so.)
Edit: The votes are in! The next update (real, not just a patch) will include cinnamon, more recipes, nuts and berries (for trail mix?) and some minor bug fixes. I will also rename salt blocks to Rock Salt, as suggested by CATSCEO2, and will maybe add salt spawning like clay as well as under ground. Salt will also despawn when it touches water.
I have had a few requests for Jaffa cakes.... maybe it will get me on Yogscast?
Adding those, made from coaco beans and wheat. Are they biscuits or cakes....idk.
The stove/pan will be added in a later update, it will be fueled by coal or a similar fuel, and will also require oil to function, similar to a real pan. There will be two slots for the oil and coal, as well as a 3x3 "cooking grid." This is branching far away from SpiceCraft, however, so I may rename it or make a new mod, GourmetCraft. I will update the old version of the mod for new versions, however, if you don't want a full-blown cooking experience in Minecraft. My goal with this mod is to make food more interesting and useful, while still retaining the same difficulty of the normal game.
I really like the look of this mod, I hope that something like this ends up in the vanilla game :biggrin.gif:
If the mod were to get a lot of attention, and Mojang became aware of it, I would be happy to submit it to them, but I don't want to waste their time with something only a few people care about.
THANK YOU!
With your permission, I'm going to embed this video in the main post, just PM me if it's OK. I needed to a video to show how it works, and this is great. BTW, curry doesn't stack.

Feel free.
Ahh... stacking curry might be a bit broken. :smile.gif:
If you do a major update to the addon, let me know and I'll do an addendum.
I really love the idea of this mod and think your mod is definately filling a gaping hole in the food crafting of Minecraft!
Being fairly new to the mods, and actually Minecraft itself, I have a question about the installation. I know how to actually get it installed, but it seems that your mod replaces several of the base game files that other complex mods don't (i.e. the lang files and the items.png). Please forgive me if I am just uninformed, but I thought the purpose behind the ModLoader was so that as few of the base files would be updated as possible, thus allowing more mods to work together. I understand that sometimes it is unavoidable and a base class needs to be updated, but I'm concerned that installing this mod will cause conflicts with many of my other mods that may need those portions of the original game that are being overwritten.

Do I have a valid concern?
Yes and no. The .lang and some of the base files will be fixed in the next update, but some class files will still need to be replaced. The items.png will be replaced with a new folder with the textures in it.
I am trying to make Spicecraft work with Balkon's Weaponmod and there is no black screen until I enter a level of mine, it freezes and after a few seconds, it black screens. Can anyone help me out?

Post an error report, instructions in my main post.
Also, the items may not be compatible, they have not yet been updated with modloader. That will come as soon as i can get it to recompile (aaaagh mcp), as i have already written the code.
Im having troubles with this mod... the picture of table salt is wrong. Its a ballistic knife from ballistic knife mod.
The mod is still being converted to complete modloader compatibility, I will post a new version in a few days. In the meantime, try installing it and modloader on a clean .jar.
For the sake of texture packs can you please make the icons for the items and ores in separate files so the texture pack doesnt overwrite them. Gold for u :smile.gif:
As i have said, this will be fixed in an update, probably later this week.

Just put it in the unzipped .jar, either should work. I put it in a .jar folder that was vanilla save for modloader, and it worked fine.
