Surprisingly, I can actually run MineCraft 1.0.0 with the usual settings that I would use with OptiFine without much lag. Can't wait to see what it can do with OptiFine! :biggrin.gif:
I have one doubt, how come Notch do nothing about this game lags. There has to be someone to do it as a mod '-'
He has done plenty to reduce lag. In the full release you can do much more than simply turn off the smooth light and fancy graphics. You can also turn off particle effects and the clouds. I receive no lag when I use these settings.
A friend of mine tested earlier versions of this mod and mentioned that some HD packs did not work with it at the time specifically those that used "animated fluid textures" that apparently used a different class in another HD support mod to render the water animations. Has this issue been addressed?
Topic in MCP IRC channel is:
"MCP for Minecraft 1.0.0 not before Nov.26"
I suspect that the date actually means it is when they believe that they can start devoting some time to actually working on updating it rather than it being an expected release date. My guess is that it will probably be at least a couple of days more after that before it is actually released. We'll see.
85%, thats shitty, and you can not argue that. its shows that java is part of the problem. Yes MC is poorly-optimized, but java is not helping.
WTF? Really? Are you insane?
Look under benchmarks for AMD Athlon XP 2400:
- gets 250 - 280 FPS on Java Quake 2
- gets 245 - 315 FPS on C Code Quake 2
Boo Hoo only getting 280 FPS instead of 315 FPS of the horribly "shitty" performance! /s
The issue is _not_ Java.
Java allows Mojang to deliver the same product to Mac, Linux, and Windows with having to spend a lot of time recoding everything.
Please do NOT advertise your or someone else's mod (similar or not) in other people's mod threads.
It's actually against the rules and for very good reason.
Keep it limited to within your signature where it is allowed.

As I said, I did it to help, if optifine was updated I wouldn't have, but if it was going to make 1.0.0 playable for someone, they'd rather know about it, than never see it and wait.
AH! thank you sp614x, That's what I wanted to know :smile.gif:
Download MCNostalgia to downgrade.
I think the lag problem is that the game is written in java. A poor choice for a huge 3D game.
-cough-runescape-coughcough-
I give you a counter example:
http://bytonic.de/html/jake2.html
It is a "pure Java port of the Quake2 game engine"
To quote the performance page,
"Jake2 0.9.2 can achieve up to 85% of the framerate of the C version"
So it is simply the case that Minecraft developers are not that good at optimization.
