When I use MCPatcher to launch Minecraft (which uses the commands that don't work correctly) Java uses as much memory as when I use my bat file. I don't see any benefits.
Also, I don't have out-of-memory errors.
trust me, theres alot of difference, the exe has a memory leak which is why the op recommends lauching the jar directly, infact most recommend it from what i have been looking through but this is besides the point, his batch doesnt let me go on smp which is what im asking for help on, not an alternative which i was using already

Forgive me if this has already been stated, but what issue cause Optifine to be incompatible with Minecraft Forge? I was wondering as I was hoping to having Optifine with BulidCraft and Equivalent Exchange. :sad.gif:
Going by your CPU any non MT version, is it even worse for you when you turn off and down everything? I mean really every setting that OF offers. It's hard to imagine that even that will make it still worse for you than the old OptiMine.
not really when i turn down "all" the setting i go from 6-8 fps to 10-15 fps, when i use optimine im around 19-20 fps and then when i do some stuff to my comp im running at 40-50fps but only with optimine
I was under the impression that 1.8.1 doesn't actually run on Leopard 10.5.8 and that an upgrade to Snow Leopard (not Lion since you are PPC) was needed to play Minecraft now.
I'm trying to get a friend to play Minecraft on his PPC, and unfortunately, it's much harder than that.
Apple quietly dropped support for PPCs between Leopard and Snow Leopard, which, while that sucks, isn't the problem. The problem is that Java 1.6 has dropped support for PPC architecture as well, so the highest version of Java PPC owners can upgrade to is 1.5. Minecraft runs (though it ain't pretty) but lots of mods aren't compatible with Java 1.5 and thus can't be installed. When I tried installing the LSOD fix on a PPC, for example, they were unable to connect to a multiplayer server and the regular game rendered all the blocks black.
So yeah, if you're on a PPC, you're screwed =/ I hope what you say about Optimine is true, and that a Java 1.5 compatible version of OptiFine or Optimine will be released. But I doubt it.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man you are awesome!!!!!! Minecraft runs so much faster you are awesome and you have my support! If I could donate I would.
I hope it's okay I post this here.. this thread seemed the best place that I might get some help.
First, I'm running Minecraft version 1.8.1. I've never had any problem with Minecraft until 1.8/1.8.1. Now, the game still runs *fairly* smoothly, except as soon as a world I'm in starts getting more explored and built up, I get serious lag spikes. My FPS is fine the rest of the time.
Moreover, the lag spikes are almost always in a predictable place. That is, I can run back and forth the entire length of my storage room, for example, and as soon as I reach a certain point in the room, I get a few seconds of spikes and stuttering, then it smooths out again. I can run up and down the room several times, and I will get the spikes in the exact same location *every single time*. There are several spots in my "base" where this occurs and can be reproduced reliably.
So far I've installed OptiFine 1.8.1_HD_S_A as well as Lag Spike of Death 1.8.1 (which I did not install initially, because it is supposedly included in OptiFine, but then I went ahead and installed it anyway) with no change. I've installed Java 1.7 and run it as high priority, I close all other high memory using apps while I run Minecfraft, and I've turned down every single setting I could think of to its lowest setting with zero improvement... the spikes still occur in the exact same locations.
Here are my system specs:
Windows 7 32 bit
Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz
4GB RAM (3.5 usable)
ATI Radeon HD 4770 (512MB) with latest drivers
I know my system is aging a bit, but it should be more than sufficient to run Minecraft, and always has been until 1.8. As I said initially, my performance is generally good, and I get great framerates... but the lag spikes get frustrating, especially since they only start to happen as my world gets bigger.
Any suggestions? Optifine and the LSOD fix appear to do nothing for me, and I'm sure I've installed them correctly (I can definitely see all the additional video settings that it adds).
Actually, you can remove the qo.class. You will just miss out on better grass.
this did not work :sad.gif: not moving over the qo.class makes optifine work but it still removed the fancy water of the shader
@OP could you make a patch for the water mod? that would be amazing, i would gladly donate some money next paycheck for a optifine with working water mod :biggrin.gif: it would be amazing
My Minecraft works Its just that when i want to go to a world i go in then in half a second it exits to saving chunks than crashes my game, can you help please respond!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The same happened to my system too with the new 1.8 updates, i am guessing it was something notch changed with the code that made it more CPU intensive... i am just waiting for 1.9 or the full release to come out then notch will work on performance
Nah all Nvidia cards can do it (I have GTX470). If it doesn't work then you're not doing it right.
These settings:
(a bunch of pictures)
Yes, the cards can be told to force AA and AF. However, on many NVIDIA cards it causes crazy artifacts, white lines over things, visible grids between blocks, etc. The option is there, it works, but it doesn't work CORRECTLY on all systems.

Life is a Learning Curve....
Unfortunately, you're stuck on the bottom...amongst the bones of the stupid.
It's Optifine.

Open the minecraft.jar in your archive editor (eg. 7-zip)
Delete the META-INF folder
Restart minecraft
???
Profit!
I kept getting the black screen and figured I did something wrong...I did.
It works for me! :biggrin.gif:

Would love to try it on my Duel Quad Core machine :wink.gif:
