Thanks for getting back to me. I can confirm that it is related to AF, but it's also happening with AF turned off if I have AA on. Before testing this I was running 4xAA, 8xAF. Turning AF off (AA still on) did not fix it. Turning AF and AA both off did fix it (after restarting game of course). Then I turned on AF (no AA) and it returned. Then turned off AF and turned on AA and it returned again. So maybe check AA before you release an update.
This applies to both the Prismarine flash as well as the super-fast animated textures.

hi guys, i need help, when I was installing optifine then right click, I couldn't find open with and Java TM SE binary. I've downloaded java. JDK can be installed, but JRE cannot. I was afraid if my problem from JDK and JRE. but can anyone tell me what is the problem? and how to fix it? pleaseee help me:'( I'm very happy if you reply it:')

I do have a question though:
Shaders always have shadow flicker, though a lot less (but still noticeable especially when flying) since the latest update.
I know that you can't 100% get rid of shadow flicker but are there certain options of which you know will decrease the amount of shadow flicker?
I've just started to bug check John Smith Legacy with the latest 1.8.9 Optifine and have found some errors that I'm working through but some cannot seam to be fixed.
CTM Matchblocks are not working for the log2 variants of the logs, the error logs show these two errors.

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Cannot set property amm{name=variant, clazz=class aio$a, values=[acacia, dark_oak]} to oak on block minecraft:log2, it is not an allowed value

The two properties files are listed below, the other four logs all work fine, if I remove the variant tag the logs work but are both acacia.

This was fixed in G8 for 1.8.9.
If the shadow flickering is caused by terrain loading or unloading when moving around, then there is no way to fix it. The missing terrain can not cast a shadow. This is mostly visible on sunrise or sunset when the shadows are long and on shorter render distances.
The repeater is changed by "mcpatcher/ctm/models/diode/diode_side.properties".
All side textures of the repeater are to be replaced, including the side textures of the torches as they are part of the model. However the replacement texture has transparent top part and the torch sides disappear.
The repeater model uses 4 textures:
To replace only the stone side texture you can add "matchTiles=stone_slab_top"
hey! i downloaded you 1.8.9 it was not working so i downgraded to my normal 1.8.8 hd g6 (i forgot about the new g7) and it gave me a virus. has your site been hacked or what? if not any ideas on what happend
