They just don't work with Optifine yet. Same happens to me, works perfectly on MCPatcher though.
So far Sugarcane,Rails,Redstone Repeaters and Glass Panes(!) won't work yet.
Also Gold and Iron Pressure Plates but those both aren't supported by either Optifine or MCPatcher.
So we have to wait.
Coming with C2 the connected textures for sugarcane, rails and glass panes shoud work.
Orientation for furnace, dispenser and dropper is on the TODO list.
Gold and iron pressure plates should also work, they are normal blocks.
The installers using inheritance aren't working with me.

I'm a complete noob on Java, but my Library Count (Local Version Editor tab on Launcher) for these versions above was only 2, while the working versions were 35 or so. I copied the libraries from the 1.8.1 vanilla json into the C1 version and it worked like a charm, despite the flickering chunks.
Is there a workaround or I'll have to do this for all versions with inheritance?

Your launcher is too old.
The Local Version Editor is not existing since launcher version 1.4.2.
Inherited profiles were added in 1.4.6, the current launcher version is 1.5.3.
Asked several times.. It seems 1.71 doesn't get any love at all.. Any chance there will be a 1.71 update? because optifine is running rather **** with the latest versions of forge... Extreme block lag (like when breaking simple stone bricks, weird texture glitches and such)...
Is he thinking of 1.7.10? 1.7.10 has plenty support though...
EDIT: Yeah, I've never heard anyone call 1.7.10 1.7.1. Anyway, 1.7.10 has a ton of support from a lot of mods, I think what you're getting is normal for all optifine.
However fixed CTM really doesn't work on the new Pressure Plates (Gold/Iron) :/
For example i tried to make my Gold Pressure plate look like wood. so i took the Log_oak.png and called it 0.png
Then i made the .properties called "block147.properties" (Gold Block Pressure Plate ID.)
Optifine Reads it, but it doesn't show up in game.
The "gold_block.properties" has "matchTile=gold_block" and overwrites the block147.properties. Match by tile has higher priority than match by block.
If you change "gold_block.properties" to use block id, then the weighted plate will work.

Not that it matters at all when you run at 240 or 225.. Anything over monitor refresh (or 60) will only strain your GPU unneeded. If you like the heat in your computer case, steam away.
Thats obvious, however running without V-sync is useful for finding bottlenecks. Also you are not entirely correct in that it does make a gameplay difference. Mouse response-time is significantly lower with unlocked frame rate compared to locked. The trade-off is screen-tearing artifacts.
It all depends on the specific bottleneck for your computer
- it may be the Java version - check the native Mojang launcher, it downloads the latest Java matching your operating system -> https://launcher.mojang.com/download/Minecraft.exe
- it may be the render distance - smaller is faster
- it may be the OS using the integrated graphics instead of the dedicated GPU (if available) - check the graphics driver configuration panel
- it may be the OS or GPU running in power-saving mode - especially on laptops, check the system settings
- it may be the window size - sometimes window mode is faster than fullscreen, sometimes it is the other way around
- it may be the graphics driver running in half speed because it does not recognize Java as a game - update graphics driver
- it may be VSync - set Max Framerate to Unlimited
- it may be VBO - try with VBO set to ON
- it may be the fog - some older GPUs hate fog
- you can also try Fast Math and Smooth World
I have tried it all but my problem is that my fps matches my chunk updates everytime no matter what settings I use maxed out or not, so I get 20-30 with or without optifine.
Hi, i'm desperate, I installed OptiFine_1.8.0_HD_U_B6 (i had installed the B4 and i didn't have any problems) and now i try to run minecraft, and a java error appears in my screen "JAVA VIRTUAL MACHINE LAUNCHER" A Java Exception has occurred" and i cant open minecraft, but with te older version of optifine (B4) i dont have any problems, i've tried everything, reinstall all (java, minecraft optifine (installed form the command line)) and nothing, Please I need help. apparently I am not the first one with this issue, and I've read the other comments but nothing works, Thanks.

Running without CTM or AF, I get ~240FPS
With only CTM enabled (and a compatible resource pack) I get ~225.
With only AF enabled, I drop to ~104, which is expected.
However, enabling both CTM and AF, I drop to 21 FPS. So there seems to be some sort of conflict between them...
This looks like a graphics memory limit.
AF/AA doubles the graphics memory usage, CTM may also double the memory usage, depending on the resource pack. When out of memory the graphics driver starts to swap textures to main memory which is slow.
I have tried it all but my problem is that my fps matches my chunk updates everytime no matter what settings I use maxed out or not, so I get 20-30 with or without optifine.
My fps is better in 1.8.1 but 1.7.10 has all the cool mods.....
More often than not, my Minecraft crashes when I try to load up Optifine 1.8.1. I'm not at all knowledgeable in coding, so I don't know the problem. It only seems to happen when I maximize the window, for whatever reason, and doesn't happen every time, just most of the time. Here's a crash report. Can someone tell me what might be causing the problem?

Hmm I did some testing, and it's possible GPU-Z does not report V-RAM usage correctly for opengl games, but nevertheless these are the results I got:
Minecraft, nothing enabled- ~400MB
Minecraft, CTM enabled- ~500MB
Minecraft, CTM/AF enabled- ~800MB
Goat Simulator- ~1000MB
BattleField 4 (64-bit)- 1935MB
I was basically hitting my 2GB memory limit with battlefield and the usage stopped rising after it hit a bit over 1900 and leveled off, presumably caching to ram. But even with these results you still might be right since I don't know if GPU-Z is accurate for Minecraft. After I enabled AF, I noticed GPU utilization went down to about 15% meaning there is a bottleneck happening somewhere at least. I'll check again to make sure its not maxing out a CPU core.

LOL
OptiFine HD Ultra C2 for Minecraft 1.8 is available here.
What is new:
- fixed Connected Textures: sugarcane, glass panes, rails.
- fixed Forge compatibilty
- fixed grass overlay with AF/AA
- reports repeating OpenGL errors in chat (1285: Out of memory)
Thank you very much! Sugarcane & color glass (method=vertical) is OK.
