I never especially like suggesting/asking for new things, but lately I've been noticing a bit of a problem, and if future versions of Optifine can do something about it I would be damn happy xD
Basically, enchantment glows are possibly the single worst thing for FPS I've ever noticed (Not counting, like, hundreds of mobs in a small place or something), It's not too big a problem when, say, it's on armour or in your inventory, but seeing it up close (Like a player in your face during PVP, or when wielding a sword or pickaxe that's enchanted.) can mess things up considerably.
On a good day when my computer manages to run at 40 or so fps, enchants can drop it to about 15 (Which to me is playable), but most of the time when I run, say, 20 fps, then enchants can make that number fall to 5 (Which is unplayable to me).
TLDR: I would absolutely love an option in future versions to turn off the Enchantment Glow, or perhaps simply make it not animated if possible.
Thanks for the mod, and hopefully your consideration for this idea.

Have tried the option in Animation ->Items Animated? I know when that's set to off, compasses, clocks, and items in item frames don't animate, for me at least
It's no relative Minecraft Error. It's simply a fault with his graphics card (which he has none of)
Optifine requires you to have a modern graphics card installed to run Minecraft + optifine as with optifine it has some features in-which it needs to take some use of you graphics card to emulate the game's render with it's own settings.
Having a really old graphics card introduces you with the "OPENGL: pixels not supported error" in Minecraft with optifine installed (or if your graphics card does not support this feature)
That's why he get's that Java crash on his desktop and not inside his Minecraft client.
In terms you can't fix this error. You need to either get a new computer or don't have optifine installed. (or just install a new Graphics Card so it can emulate minecraft better.)
I have opengl 1.4 and it works perfectly fine. Though you still need a quarter-decent opengl for optifine.

I pretty much always play with every setting at it's lowest. The only things I keep animated are Water and Lava, but everything else toggle-able is disabled. The Enchantment Glow isn't affected.

It should be a very easy to to remove it; I did it myself because while I didn't have any problems with it in vanilla or with Optifine/Forge and several mods, I started getting it randomly (only held items) when I installed Improved First Person View; the weird thing was, it only happened every 2-3 times I started the game, the other times it ran fine (restarting the game would usually fix it but I got annoyed so modded it out myself).
FWIW, the relevant code is in ItemRenderer in the method renderItem and the line starts with "if (par2ItemStack.hasEffect(par3))"; I just commented out everything below that to the closing }.
Also of note, while it may be a bit outdated by now, I installed Optifine using the method outlined here, as well as my own mods so I didn't have to modify the jar (I use Forge 842 on 1.6.2 but this may still help people who are having problems installing Optifine with Forge; note that I modified the Forge source for the same version since Forge doesn't patch modified base classes and I wasn't sure if Optifine or other mods used ItemRenderer)
Found a crash with optfine (took me 1 week to find it was optifne )

I get this exact same error, with 0 mods installed and just forge, so i know its optifine i have a modpack that is through the roof epic, and everything works great together, add optifine it errors, could really use a fix for this as i really want my zoom/fps fixed lol
oh and my version is the last recommended forge and latest optifine
Someone PM me please, if you find or have a fix, or if there is a patch somewhere that i can not find.
Why is mcp not updating I a fellow moder am confuse to?
They have to rewrite it every Minecraft version, and with so many different class files it takes a long time. They released an alpha, but It doesn't reobfuscate

I'm not really a modder, or a coder of any kind. But would you please dumb down the word "reobfuscate" for me? I'd love to know what the actual problem is.

Here's hoping 1.7.3 OR will be fairly stable.
It has yet to randomly crash on me but mobs are still partially invisible, though I'm not sure if you were trying to fix that bit.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
