I did it the more complicated way and follow all the steps to Install Optifine 1.5.2 with Forge
But i got stuck on -Dfml.ignorePatchDiscrepancies=true. I don't know where you put that it says to put it in the JVM Options. But all i have it JVM Arguments and in that it says -Xmx1G

That should be where it goes, just leave the -Xmx1G alone and add the line along with it like so:
I've installed OptiFine 1.6.2 both the easy way and not-so-easy way, and both times I install it 100% correctly. Yet, with both installs, I get no FPS increase at all. Yes, things do run smoother and there's a noticeable difference, but my frames get no help at all. Would that be my computer? Or is there something else I could do to help that?
I've changed my video settings and everything to get the best possible frames (I think), but again, nothing.
Before 1.6.1 came out with the new launcher, OptiFine DID help my FPS greatly. I could change quite a few things to Fancy and still hold 60 FPS no matter what. With the new launcher, everything's kinda gone downhill. :c
I just have to say thanks for this mod
my computer is... well old is a understatement and TBH Minecraft is unplayable
but with optifine I can run the game just fine sure its not 60FPS but it plays and thats what matters
so again thanks sp614x
tho I will admit that 1.6.2 seems to much more optimised cause I can run smaller maps even without optifine

A few pages back I had my (possible) fix. When transferring the files over, transfer all of them EXCEPT the assets folder from optifine. Then find the assets folder INSIDE of the minecraft jar file. Open up the minecraft jar assets folder, then open up the optifine assets folder. Move the folders from the optifine folder to the minecraft jar assets folder. Then it should work, It worked for me. Again, i'm not sure if this is the real fix and I am not a pro or anything, this is just what I did. Hope this helps mac users.
Also, I would like to ask sp614x if this is how you fix it.
Hmmm... can someone help an Enderman like me? Since 1.6.2, I noticed that the textures are messed up, the mobs look really messed up and look like cartoons, as well as blocks and other things. Please don't call me ignorant, I just need help.

I am glad I'm not the only one that is in the same situation. I use to run with 30-40 fps, but now I have 20 :c
I'm guessing it's just one thing you haven't gotten to yet, but just in case, with the preview A2, works great except it can't find the glowstone, crafting table textures, or any textures from mods.

I can't get this to work with Light Level Overlay v0.17. When I open Magic Launcher 1.1.6 and have OF first listed & LLO next, I get these errors in the Magic Launcher Logs:

When I try to launch MC, it gets to the MOJANG screen, flickers once, shows MOJANG again, and then dissapears .. no crash window.

+1 for this fix. I was having the same problem, and figured it was the preview not working on macs for some reason. Good thing I decided to check out the thread before dismissing it!
Thanks, man. Saved me a lot of grief. C:
And much thanks for sp614x for optifine, as well. Been using this since 1.2.5 and it makes minecraft that much easier.
hey guys, i tried to install optifine and this is the error I got:

I've changed my video settings and everything to get the best possible frames (I think), but again, nothing.
Before 1.6.1 came out with the new launcher, OptiFine DID help my FPS greatly. I could change quite a few things to Fancy and still hold 60 FPS no matter what. With the new launcher, everything's kinda gone downhill. :c
my computer is... well old is a understatement and TBH Minecraft is unplayable
but with optifine I can run the game just fine sure its not 60FPS but it plays and thats what matters
so again thanks sp614x
tho I will admit that 1.6.2 seems to much more optimised cause I can run smaller maps even without optifine

Please don't call me ignorant, I just need help.
Gave up trying to download https://s3.amazonaws....2_Optifine.jar for job 'Version & Libraries'
Job 'Version & Libraries' finished with 1 failure(s)!
And if someone doesn't help me, I'll be stuck with 4 FPS for the rest of mah life.
I am glad I'm not the only one that is in the same situation. I use to run with 30-40 fps, but now I have 20 :c

ugh I get the same thing!!!
And I hate Magic Launcher.
I disagree with you
1. Forge crashes minecraft lot.
2.You dont need Magic launcher.
Here is the log file .. if it helps any:
forge doesn't crash at all for me, and explain to me how else one is supposed to use N.E.I. and Optifine at the same time.
Any help?
