i am currious, are the people who say optifine works perfectly getting chunk loading issues at all, i have my view distance set to far and as i keep on going towards the new chunks (yes i have tested on fresh worlds) with optifine installed and updated forge to 518, the new chunks simply do not load and create a chasm of about 10 chunks accross and the view distance wide and if you walk onto it the character gets stuck, i also get tesselation errors, i am running it via FTB launcher on the Direwolf20 pack
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?
The latest version of optifine is amazing. My performance went up dramatically with c3 or whatever the latest preview is. The only thing I see that is odd is that turtles dont render properly for me when mining and they leave ghost turtles all over the place using Feed The Beasts latest MindCrack pack. I don't know that it is necessarily an optifine glitch, but it seems plausible.
I'm here to report a bug. In C3, unexpected block updates (furnace lights, gravel falls, etc) while using multi-core chunk loading can cause the chunk to disappear until a (seemingly) arbitrary time later.
Additionally, destroying blocks doesn't update adjacent blocks properly, f.e. destroying a block that a torch is resting on will not destroy the rendered torch, but I think it destroys the actual torch.
The problem you're all having with any Feed The Beast version, is a problem with Optifine's compatibility with the current Forge version. At the moment, all Feed The Beast packs are running Forge 516 from what I can see. We'll need to wait for an update or update forge to 518 to get it working properly. The chunk errors are quite common.
I'm running it at the moment, and the chunk errors and such aren't happening, and the game seems to be running just fine. I don't have a whole lot of IC2 stuff made YET, but at the moment, what I do have seems to be working.
Download the Universal link, and while in your Launcher, go to your mod pack, go to editing it, and then go in the Jar Mods tab. Disable the minecraftforge that's there, and replace it by pressing "Add mod" and directing it to where you have the .zip file for the downgraded Forge.
Or, you could try to do the same by updating it to 518 by going here. http://adf.ly/673885...rsal-latest.zip
This would probably be best, and it has fixed all the errors I used to have, with items not breaking, water/lava not flowing, thaumcraft stuff glitching, chunk errors, and more.
I posted a little while ago with issues with the game still unloading chunks beyond Far render distance. Same thing is happening with C3 Ultra and Forge 518, but now I get the following error:
2013-02-01 05:08:42 [INFO] [ForgeModLoader] Unloading dimension 1
2013-02-01 05:08:48 [SEVERE] [ForgeModLoader] Detected leaking worlds in memory. There are 2 worlds that appear to be persisting. A mod is likely caching the world incorrectly

EDIT: As someone earlier mentioned, this was caused by Chicken Chunks. Does anyone know of a good standalone chunkloader that works with Optifine (Immibis' Dimensional Anchors were crashy, and Railcraft stuff covers way too small of an area).
Preview OptiFine HD D1 Ultra for Minecraft 1.4.7 is out.
What is new:
- Added option Custom Sky - based on MCPatcher's Better Skies. Uses the same configuration and behaves generally the same. Custom Sky is only active at render distance Normal and above. The custom sky textures may inflict a severe FPS loss, depending on the configuration.
- Faster texture loading
The name "Custom Sky" is selected to match the rest of the quality options. The "Better" options are working with the default texture pack (Better Grass, Better Snow, etc). The "Custom" options are using new textures and need texture pack support (Custom Fonts, Custom Colors, etc).
Currently using D1 Ultra, and it seems like some CTM stuff isn't working, or isn't up to date. I can't get the repeat method nor the fixed method to work.

Repeat should work, fixed is not implemented (to be added soon).

Alright thanks! I'm probably just using it wrong then. Does the condensed CTM stuff work? Where I can just use one file instead of needing several block#.properties files. Or does it work differently than that, I'm not sure. Nevermind I figured this out, I think.
I do have a problem I'm not sure how to solve though. I have a custom texture for the nether fence, block113, and 4 random textures for nether bricks, terrain224. The problem is that nether fences use the nether brick texture by default, and the CTM for random nether bricks is overriding the CTM for a custom nether fence texture. Is there any way I can have random textures for the nether brick while still having a custom texture for nether fences?
I'm having a Bug, doors with buttons or pressure plates doesn't work correctly, or removing items which need to have a block under them (like doors, gravel or sand) . They just stay there like nothing ever happened. This happens with mods.
Okay, so I've searched through this thread and I have not found anything that helps with my problem.
My problem is, I cannot get AA to work no matter what I do. I've gone throuhg and done all the stuff on the Nvidia Control Panel, and everything I could do In-game and I still cannot get it to work.
I ahve the Nvidia GTX 280 and I don't know if it matters but my control panel for it also has additional settings that the tutorial on the original page does not give instructions for. But it doesn't really matter sinse they dont do anything to the game anyway.
I have heard so many good things about AA on minecraft and am really eager to try it out.

Let’s play good guys against bad guys… Yes. Let’s play that. Are you ready? You’re the bad guy. And when you’re bad, you just run. That’s fine right? Well… Shall we play?
Optifine helped out a little with my frames, but I still wasn't able to play on Normal render distance with nothing else running. The main problem was though, it caused TERRIBLE water, lava and fire lag, so much so that I "tried to swim in lava" in an area that there was no lava, and however long I watched the death screen, it didn't update and show lava. But when I relogged, I was surrounded by it. Also, water wouldn't go away when the source block was removed unless I relogged. It also caused very bad terrain generation, like floating trees in forest biomes. It also generated a village with a blacksmith, except the blocks surrounding the lava didn't generate, so it destroyed about half of the village with fire, and the chest was completely empty as well.
Overall, I'd give it a 1/10, because it ruined my world for the most part.
Just to report that your adf.ly link don't seem to work for me, tested in both FF and Internet Explorer 9, I love to support devs when I can but I had to use the mirror link and I know it doesn't bring any cash for your hard work when I do this.

no, well diamonds to you (i know that is bebopvox's thing but #DEALWITHIT)
Very curious with regards to twilight forest, and mystcraft -- both of which want to play with the sky.

I have a Nvidia geforce 5200 FX
intel core 2 duo
2gb of ram
and a nicely managed page file yet it will not allow me to turn it on it did yesterday and now it won't any ideas?
I have changed nothing and I don't let anybody else near my pc.

Running Optifine C3 (most recent), Minecraft 1.4.7.
Feed the Beast Direwolf20 (most recent)

To fix it, you can actually downgrade to this version of Forge.
