Reasking: Am I the only one having issues with inventory (and chest) colors? It's definitely too dark! I used the Smooth A3 version (I'd like to put the MT A3 one, since I have a Quad-Core, but the "flickering transparent block" bug is persisting). With the Smooth A3 version, everything works fine except the color in inventory screen. Thanks for helping!
You're right i've installed the MT-Version, but i thought i could put the normal version directly on it.
...
EDIT: Got the problem, without Millenaire it works fine. After googling: You need the full Forge to use Optifine.
OptiFine Version "A3" and the latest version of Forge are both compatible with each other again. As always, make sure OptiFine is installed AFTER Forge.
I don't know what you were running into when trying to use the multi-core edition of OptiFine, but the OP does NOT say to not use it. Otherwise, there'd be no reason to have it available for download in the first place. And, the problems when using the multi-core edition are usually due to the person not having a system setting configured properly (like not having threaded optimization disabled like you should).
How will this help? I clean my PC every week anyway.
Since you clean your PC every week anyway, I'm surprised you're asking.
Cleaning the Windows Registry will remove old unneeded registry entries that often cause problems (some you are not even aware of) and in response can make your system more stable and possibly also faster in general. One of the other cleaners it contains can also directly clean Java itself.
Removing potential and actual problems means those problems you are looking to have resolved may be fixed as part of the set of problems being fixed.
This is the ONLY registry cleaner that I have found that I trust.
great work on this project guys, but I got a problem with it. Doesn't matter which version I install, the grass is always growing from the rim of a lake to the bottom when I use Optifine. Last one I tested is OptiFine_1.2.5_HD_MT_A2 on a fresh empty Minecraft 1.2.5 and I still got this bug...
Yes, i know, i wrote this already, but because MT stabilizes my FPS too great (keyword: stabilizes. OF increases FPS, but it's useless if it drops because of some event), i won't probably move to Standard.
When something happens (usually when setupTexture appears in terminal), player or mob textures may in some cases turn into terrain.png...
...and it may turn back into normal. And then break again, and then again fix itself, and then break again...
Why is this happens?
Since i have no sources, only %MOD_CODER% can check this. He should make a test build with debug output, at least at setupTexture function, because texture are being corrupted when this appears in terminal.
It can also happen because of code like if (variable = 0) {}, with = instead of == (in C case, not sure about Java).
And he probably should search in diff between Standard and Smooth, because Smooth got this bug, and Standard don't.
Can you guys try something for me? Download and install CCLeaner and run its "Registry" cleaner. While you're at it, go ahead and run its "Windows" and "Applications" cleaners too.
I run CCleaner regulary; I've just re-run it, and the "ahw.run" exception spam still persists. Exiting to the title menu and re-entering my world suppresses the error for now, although it comes back again when i travel between the overworld and the nether. I just have to exit to the title menu again after traversing a portal, and the exceptions go away. If I let the exceptions accrue long enough, I've notices that I start to get graphical glitches. I haven't had a crash yet from this bug, but I suspect I'd eventually see one if I wasn't careful.

That reminds me, are you getting any errors posted in your Windows Event Logs when this happens?
If so, please post the Event ID and Event Source information. You may then also want to go to EventID.net to see if you can find any information on them.
EDIT: Also, here's a link to a post by ShaRose in his ID Resolver thread with download links for the latest version. Earlier on in that thread he states why he didn't want to post it on the OP yet.
The screenshot on the right side looks like it still kind of has a medium tint in the corners away from the torch. But, along the horizontal and vertical planes is where the tint is completely lost.
So, this raises a question for me. In the OptiFine settings in Minecraft, do you have "Smooth Lighting" set to maximum or something else?
Curious if the problem is only because Smooth Lighting isn't at max in the screenshot on the right. I know this type of stuff can occur when it's not at maximum. Worth a quick look to double-check.
If you do have Smooth Lighting set to maximum already, this could possibly be an indication that custom colors are not applying to smooth lighting.
the one on the right, i think the green tint in the corners is actually just an optical illusion caused by it being right next to the other one.
ive just tested the smooth lighting ingame, making sure to check that custom colors was on, it was... the picture on the right had smooth lighting off, i tested it at varying percentages, it got smoother, yeah, but no color change. here's a screenshot of it at 100%
Tested Optifine A3 Classic with the latest Modloader and Forge and KoP eXtrem Plus 512x512 texture pack, runs like a dream, great work on this I really appriciate it!
Standing on a mountain with the view distance at Extreme and the minimap setting to Max is a wonderful experience, only get about 20-30 fps when I do that though (not surprising).
I see around 60 fps with distance set to Far+112, where as before Optifine I was only getting 20 fps using MCPatcher with a 256x256 texture pack. Thanks again, solid work!

Does this have any affect on a server/is it SMP compatible? Does everybody connected to the server have to have it installed? Sorry if this a frequently asked question, I'm kinda new to modding servers

Now this is impressive.
Theoretically, with bigger texturepacks (128x, 256x, 512x) the advantage of OptiFine should increase.

Personally, I'd like to see an updated side-by-side shot with the OptiFine side updated for Smooth Lighting being set to maximum. I think it would help sp614x better.
EDIT: Nevermind. Forgot that "Custom Colors" do NOT yet also implement "Custom LIGHT Colors."
Using the A3 release of Optifine HD MT, I still get the same NullPointerException and no protocol errors as in the A2 version with a couple of mods. So far I've done some testing and have found this to be a problem with Portalgun, which is not such a big deal, and Thaumcraft2, which is probably a bit more of a big deal:
While running Portalgun

I've created a new clean 1.2.5 install using MultiMC just to test this on, and am only running Forge (.91), ModLoader and NEI with ChickenCore, and of course OptiFine_1.2.5_MT_A3, and then in this case Thaumcraft 2.1.2
...
Hope that helps.
The bug is already fixed, available in next version.
It is connected to RandomMobs and is decreasing the performance minimally.
Dang, you beat me to it. I was going to post that. LOL!
Well, at least I can still post an excerpt from that page:

Disable the "Clear Water" setting in the OptiFine settings in Minecraft.
Known issue. Grass grows under water if Clear Water is on.

Could you post your video card? If it's not Intel, then that stuff i wrote above is related not only to Mesa/Intel.
P.S. And again, there should be a known issues list in first post.
