I got Optifine Multicore on 1.2.4 and got these bugs, I describe in detail in the photo album. I originally posted on reddit because of how funny the bugs where.

Hey, what option i need to enable the 4 sided grass

This optifine thing does sound cool but does anyone know if it is really worth it?
Do you mean is it worth all the hassle of downloading a small folder?
That depends on if you need/want optifine.
If your computer is crap and you want more fps: you need optifine.
If you already have good fps, but you want minecraft to look better (and support HD textures without MCpatcher): you want optifine.

I particularly like the 'terrain.cow'.
I had this issue in 1.2.3, so it's not exclusive to 1.2.5. I was using the latest 1.2.3 Multicore version with SPC and WorldEdit. I can't be sure which was installed first/last, but I'm fairly sure SPC/WorldEdit was first.

I had a mod back in Beta 1.8.1, but I quit for a while so it hasn't been updated since then. WTF <-- If you'd like to try and update it, let me know. (It won't be an easy task, I'm sure)
Which version I should install, if I don't want Arbitrary Mobs, Worse Grass and other unrelated "features"?
If you don't want Random Mobs and "Better" Grass (I like how you put it), just make sure they're off in the options menu. I'm fairly certain "Better" Grass is off by default.
If you have a multicore processor, try the multithreaded version. If it doesn't work right, try Smooth (that is, after you've tried the suggested fixes in the OP). If Smooth doesn't work, you're left with Standard.

I'd say 'Light' if he had it updated. That was the version with -just- the performance tweaks, but since that's still at MC 1.1, I'd go with Standard or Smooth. Could try Multicore if you have a multicore computer too.

Yes that is what the problem is. If I click fast and then try and look away, sometimes I can place only one block (depending on how bad the block placement lag is in the area). Also if I want to place a line of blocks for instance, it's not much of a problem. However there are times when if I want to place only a single half slab, the only way I can reasonably do it is by having only one halfslab in my hotbar (which is very annoying).
With F3 you can see that this problem of getting double blocks is caused by lag spikes that occur when you place blocks. I'm wondering what causes those lag spikes, and if optifine could reduce them in the future. Even when it's not bad enough that I get double block placement, the lag itself is still painful.
Can you post the minecraft log file, optionsof.txt, debug screenshot without OptiFine and with OptiFine.

Hm. Gave it a try. Still have the same issue as I've had since... I don't know, since I've started playing MC over a year ago.
When I show debug info screen, my FPS counter doubles, no less. When I turn "Fast Debug: ON", it is even more apparent.
When I close debug screen, FPS fall back again.
Hi! I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, I only read the last two/three pages.
I'm getting involentary X-ray when using the latest 1.2.5 Multicore-update every time there is a blockupdate, espessially when placing torches. I could Post images but I guess you all know what X-ray does.
It's quite annoying and I was wondering if there is something I could do with the configurations to make it stop?
Thanks for an awesome mod!
Edit:GAH! If I only read the OP before asking. Sorry!
If you have problems with flashing or transparent blocks you can try:
A. Disable "Threaded Optimization" / "OpenGL Threading" in the graphics card control panel
B. Enable "Vertical Synchronization" in the graphics control panel or set the option Performance to VSync.
dont get me wrong, im very grateful for this mod

A double resolution graphics pack that stays faithful to the originals.

Edit2: Works excellent now.
