Ok, so i love the mod, for one. but i keep running into this problem where i first install optifine and i get the amazing zoom... but then i tune things here and there and now my zoom won't... well it won't zoom... and i don't know if there's an option that enables it or disables it... but if anyone could lemme know that'd be amazing
Why are there flickering chunks on my Smooth Optifine? I downgraded from Multi-Core just to get rid of them but it keeps happening. I even got a brand new jar and everything.
I remember a past version of Optifine had compatibility issues with forge and I was wondering if it was fixed.
Completely fixed, you need to overwrite forge classes with those included in optifine, occasionally bugs pop up here and there, usually visual but otherwise works just fine

Some graphic cards aren't compactible with optifne, i might suggest turning opengl on and seeing what happens

in the controls menu there is an option to change the zoom key, if you've changed it its no wonder it won't work. Otherwise there is no option to enable/disable it.
WOW, ok, so I think I will actually donate on this one. Just downloaded the multi core version. since I have a 6core, figured it was worth a try. Man, I can play my game again without worrying if I move around too fast. loaded my world, and flew up, over, as the world was loading, then went up past 128 level, and dropped to the ground, Not once getting a lag spike. I'm very impressed. I don't know why I never downloaded this before. Looks like whatever glitches people were having before are fixed because I haven't seen any errors at all.
Hi, with the Multicore one, it works wonderfully and I'm hitting 60 FPS at times, which is amazing. But I DO get the flashing and vanishing blocks. I tried everything it said in the OP, disabling thread optimization and enabling Vsync in both the game and my video card. Is there another way to fix it? I have an Nvidia Geforce 8800.

Cross your fingers. Better cross your toes, too.
After all, you are using Windows.
Love optifine, On far, FPS is doubled, normal its doubled, on short and tiny its not much of a difference, but I usually dont play on those. Now I can run a smooth 30 FPS without lag spikes. optifine FTW

hmmm, guess I spoke too soon. Shut it off, and started back up again, now I keep getting glitches. still running fairly smoothly, but off and on I'm getting little flashes where the screen or certain areas are distorted, turn see through, so on. Anyone know how to fix this?

If you are on nVidia video card, there is a Control Panel option for the drivers regarding "Threaded Optimization" which may be set to either "On" or "Auto", it is recommended to set it to "Off".
If it is already set to off, or if you are on an ATi/AMD video card or Intel Graphics solution, then I have no idea.

I have NVIdia gtx 560m in my laptop, just turned the threaded optimization off, it's still getting the flickering chunks. Any other ideas? when I first tried Opti fine, I had no issues. But after shut off, then back on, now it's doing this.
Ok, so I changed a few of the things that people mentioned, didn't seem to fix it unless it was shutting off the vertical sync that fixed it. Anyways, using magic loader, I modified my memory use from the 1024 I think it was and made it 3072. I have 8gb ram in my laptop, so shouldn't be a problem. re-loaded the game, and so far it's running flawlessly, no lag. but better, no flickering chunks.
I want the option to set which distance mipmapping begins. Mipmapping looks great from really far away but the mipmapping that Optifine has starts too close and there's no way to set how far away from you blocks' textures will be smoothed.
Also, I did turn OpenGL on, but the flickering chunks still happen. The same warning on the Multi-Core description should be on the Smooth description. Will Standard prevent this from happening?
Hopefully OptiFine will be compatible with ModLoader and MCpatcher. I only use MCpatcher to put MultiMine and DynamicLights on for now.
So far as I know, the only file that conflicts between OptiFine and ModLoader is the vh.class file. Following the instructions of installing ModLoader first, (then Dynamic Lights) and then OptiFine should result in a fully working configuration for you. I have no knowledge of MultiMine however, so your mileage may vary.
(The above listed steps of order of install are copied from the main post installation instructions with the addition of including Dynamic Lights, and it is also how I currently have them installed and it is working so far flawlessly)
As for compatibility with the MCPatcher, I don't see how OptiFine needs it at all. It includes everything that MCPatcher does with the exception of giving you a UI to install additional mods with. In fact, you -can- use MCPatcher to mod-install ModLoader, Dynamic Lights, and OptiFine. The only conflict comes from trying to enable any of the built-in MCPatcher mods, which should not be done.

Do you have something like xraymod, or zombe's modpack or something?

Scrollable ControllsVersion r2 link can be found on page 2, its for 1.1 even though it says 1.0.0 (the modder is rather new)
Forge
Both fix this issue by adding a scrollbar to the screen.

Not sure how to do that on my MacBook Pro.

In minecraft mate... when there is no direction specifically, assume its in minecraft - at least on these forums.
