That's not a bug. It's a side-effect. Mipmapped textures WILL become blurred if viewed from extreme angles if they are not properly filtered (with anisotropic filtering, for example).
well it's now that smooth i have it on linear type so it's kind of annoying.
If you have problems with flashing or transparent blocks you can try:
A. Disable "Threaded Optimization" / "OpenGL Threading" in the graphics card control panel (example)
B. Enable "Vertical Synchronization" in the graphics control panel or set the option Performance to VSync.
Anybody aware of a way to do this in OS 10.7 Lion without extensive system modification?
I am having a small issue with this mod. It is something that has always happened for me, but seems to be a lot worse now.
The blocks that pistons push disappear for a split-second while they are being pushed, revealing the piston base behind, and usually whatever is behind that as well. I made a (super fast) video demonstrating the issue .
I know that it is related to Optifine because this only happens after I install it.
The problem is present on all editions of Optifine.
I have an Asus g74sx-A1, "gaming laptop" 2.8 ghz with turbo boost I-7 processor. GTX560m graphics, and 1.5 tb hard drive space, with 8gb 1333mhz ram(planning to up to 16gb 1886, but still looking to see if the increased hz will ruin it. Anyways, even with the 8gb 1333, it should have no problem running minecraft. Never had any problems until 1.1, and now 1.2.3 it's so laggy if I move more than 5-10blocks in a short time. i'm considering checking out this mod, from what I've seen it was making slow computers run the previous versions at pretty good speeds.
Oh I forgot to mention that Java is set to 3gb runtime, in 1.0 I was able to set it to I think 2gb and it ran LB photo realism 256x256 without any lag, but now, even at 3gb, and no texture pack at all it's slow as hell.....one factor may be that I have installed the SPC mod, but that didn't lag 1.0 at all. I enjoy these updates, but it's making the game so damn hard to keep running at a decent speed.....I look forward to seeing an updated version of optifine for 1.2.3, I won't download it till then since people are reporting lots of bugs.
I could barely evwen play minecraft n the lowest settings possible because of my crappy computer, but after I got optifine, I had virtually no lag whatsoever. Thank you for the mod and all that you do, I will donate to you as soon as I am able, and just wow, I can't say everything I want, there is too much.
also, I find myself trying to zoom in on things in real life, like on a far off bilboard or something. is this normal?
For the most part I get a noticable improvement in frame rate.
BUT.... I still get massive lag spikes at very frequent random intervals. It happens too often to make 1.2.3 playable for me.
This is a new problem with 1.2.3. (No spikes in 1.1 & earlier) Optifine dosn't stop this from happening.
Anyone else having this problem?
BTW, I'm using the MT version of Optifine.

I had just downloaded a 256x256 texture pack and as soon as I tested it out, it did not work properly! All the textures were white squares except the plant life, which are green squares and the spawner eggs are all sorts of colours! My minecraft does not lag on 256x256 texturepacks but they come up as the glitch above. PLEASE HELP!

Same problem here. It's very irritating. Only restarting the entire game solves it, too.

hmmmmm that isnt working for me..... I guess you're luckyAlso, I'm having a problem with all three of the new versions(MT, smooth, and standard) where just randomly out of nowhere minecraft will just quit, no error messages, nothing the window just closes.... This does NOT happen with the 1.2.3 A3 version of optifine, only the new ones....... anyone else having this problem?
Any word on when the AA version will be updated? If i use Mipmapping on my system without the AA options enabled i get lines in between the textures... Thanks for all you do!
1) Download and start the Magic Launcher
2) Click Setup, click Add, select the downloaded zip file
3) Click OK, login and play Minecraft
If it's that easy, then why am I getting these 4 errors on Magic Launcher's log after having done precisely this...

This is with a fresh .jar, and the only other mod installed at all is the most recent Modloader. Is this just an issue with the Multi-Threading version of Optifine? (and for the record, yes, I obviously have a multicore processor. Would love to be able to make use of it.)
sp614x, is it safe to use Optifine HD B with the latest development Forge, or do I have to use the recommended stable build? I asked this a few pages ago but got no reply, and I really need to know due to Millénaire, which requires the development version. Sorry if I'm bothering you. :C

In Magic Launcher, you have to add modloader first, and then Optifine.
Maybe it is the reason of your problem.
(I use Magic Launcher, Modloader, Optifine, and some other mods, and i have no issue)
Okay, I haven't been able to figure this out and it's very frustrating to be able to use this mod since it was released for 1.2.3.
First of all, I was able to use this mod while it was being tested. Now isn't that strange that all of the sudden it stops working for me when it is completed?
I've tried installing this on a clean minecraft.jar, black screen
I've tried installing ModLoader and then Optifine into the minecraft.jar, black screen
I have updated the Minecraft.app to run in 64-bit Java, black screen
I am manually installing these into the minecraft.jar. I am NOT using MCPatcher to install Optifine (but using it only for the time being until this gets sorted out).
I have a well-equipped Mac and this shouldn't be happening. It must be in the code somewhere and the developer needs to know about this.
I know Windows users are able to get this to work because it seems that they have the developers version of Java 7. I can't get this on my Mac because the developers version for OSX is for Lion only and I don't want to upgrade (though I have been seriously thinking about it).

I'm having this exact same issue. I recently upgraded from the 1.2.3 beta (or whatever it was called) to Optifine MT. Minecraft didn't seem to like it, so I downgraded to Smooth, which will close Minecraft completely and also some lag.

For some reason this is not compatible with MCPatcher 2.3.3_02 I am using the "OptiFine HD B Standard for Minecraft 1.2.3"~EDIT~ Sorry I just noticed that post on the front page.

This (in my opinion) is the best thing someone can get if they have a laggy computer.
Time to patch this in and see how it does!

From about 23-30fps I'm not at 40-45fps with everything at max fancy.
