Experimental OptiFine_1.7.3_HD_AA_G5
is available here: Download
Adds Antialiasing (AA) and Anisotropic Filtering (AF) to mipmaps.
What is new:
- Fixed handheld items and mobs on fire
- Fixed color artifacts on transparent textures (black on grass sides)
- AA and AF levels now configurable in Video Options -> Details, default is OFF.
- Fixed SmoothLighting
- VisualQuality ^ 2
- Allows up to 16x Antialiasing and 16x Anisotropic Filtering.
- Select 4x Mipmaps for best results.
- Forcing specific AA and AF levels from the graphics control panel could also work
- FPS about 30% less than classic OptiFine, depends on the GPU.
- HD textures should work
- The rendering engine is reorganized so that it does not conflict with AA and AF
- Most probably not compatible with anything else, install on a clean minecraft.jar.
Please test and report back. :cool.gif:
If you see visual artifacts, check your driver settings (all should be set to application-controlled) and post a screenshot.
Found a possible problem. The Ultimate Fist Mod I use is completely invisible, not even my arm is showing. Also, CJB's dog biskets also don't show up. On the plus side, I'm getting a lot of FPS.
I'm having trouble installing Classic on my Mac (10.5.8). I followed the instructions (fresh .jar, no other mods) and I'm just getting a black screen after the loading screen. Any tips?
Hmm, none of the options are loading on my 64-bit Arch Linux laptop with OpenJDK. Interestingly, unmodded Minecraft is, and it's running very well. Before I started using FPS boosting mods, this same computer on Windows 7 could barely run Minecraft at tiny draw distance, but I just tested it on far and it ran perfectly smooth. I don't know if it's new optimizations in Minecraft itself, Linux, OpenJDK, or a combination of factors, but I'm really relieved.

So I'm experiencing a weird graphics glitch with this mod installed. I've tried both the Multi-threaded version and the Classic version and it happens with all types of settings combinations, including default.
Quite constantly when I'm typing (and sometimes when other people type.. I think?) my screen will spaz out for about half a second and then go back to normal. It's like it shows a zoomed in view very quickly. Texture pack used doesn't seem to matter, even with default I get the glitch. No lag spikes are occurring at all when the glitch happens either.
Anyone have some ideas about why this is happening or how to fix it? I can't replicate it on single player so I'm assuming it's related to the chat log. Server I'm experiencing the glitch on is a vanilla server with a simpleserver wrapper.

C is the zoom key, and it will apply zoom when you press C, even when in chat or a menu. I haven't seen sp614x actually acknowledge the issue, and everyone has been saying to re-bind the key, which isn't a solution. If I have to bind zoom to a button I never use, then whenever I actually want to use zoom, I have to press that awkward button.

Ah, that would explain it. I could bind it to something silly like scroll lock I guess. I switched to the HD patcher for now, but if I change back it's good to know I can stop it.

I don't see why sp614x can't actually fix this.
He prolly will fix it when HD_H comes out. Since he added zoom in HD_G, it is no surprise that he hasn't fixed it yet. Although I'm a bit concerned that it hasn't been fixed in the interim AA/AF test versions.
While re-binding isn't exactly a long-term solution, since it really SHOULD be fixed, I've found that Left Control or Tab aren't too far out of the way, and won't generally interfere with chatting.
I've installed Optifine 1.7.3 HD_G and I'm trying to use LB RPG Relism texture pack 0.8.2 (x256). When I load it from texturepack selection, the game freezes for a few seconds and then uses the Default texture pack but with the LB selected.. Please help.
It seems that Texture Pack is corrupted. Does it show a black and white picture?
After installing OptiMine, every time I open or close a door the whole screen flickers. It also drops my performance dramatically with no noticeable visual improvements. I have a good video card, and normally get excellent performance out of Minecraft. I was bored and decided to see what this would do. For me, at least, it's counterproductive, and introduced bugs and slowdowns.
I am glad that MC is no longer lagging and getting hung up every 5 seconds... but now an almost worse problem has arisen. Minecraft used to eat up 700mb of RAM, but now it just gets higher and higher. Finally, my 4GB of RAM is totally maxed out and my entire computer nearly crashes until I get MC closed. Not even saving and signing out works- I have to entirely close MC to make it stop using literally 100% of my memory.
Is there a fix to this?
Unfortunately, the lagging is getting so bad that MC isn't playable. This new issue also makes the game unplayable. Basically, I no longer play Minecraft at all because the performance issues have gotten so bad.
Since there's so much noise recently about memory related issues regarding Optifine, I thought I'd chime in. Recently, my Minecraft has been crashing with 'out of memory' errors, with Optifine installed. I'd say it's far better than the CTDs I was having before, but it's still a bit annoying. Especially with the Aether installed, Minecraft takes so long to load up. I've tested on all versions of G, even without any other mods installed, but it still ran out of memory.
I'd say there's a memory leak.
Also, one more thing. I have noticed a not-as-significant but still noticeable drop in average framerate compared to older versions of Optifine. This is with all variations of G.

On a mac there's a graphics glitch with ATI cards that I fixed by modifying the Minecraft.class (details in this short thread).
It works with Optifine up to G2, but not with G5, so I guess you're creating your own OpenGL canvas to allow for AF and AA.
Any chance you can incorporate that fix?
I wonder if this also explains the artifacts I get with even the fancy AdvanceOpenGL, where it culls the wrong surfaces which are still visible.
On another note, can we get a toggle to just completely disable the zoom?

Wow... I've been clicking that and it linked me to the middle of the pages...
Thanks though.

Life is a Learning Curve....
Unfortunately, you're stuck on the bottom...amongst the bones of the stupid.
Seriously. READ! AND SEARCH! Do you not think it would SAY if you could make it Forge compatible by not installing a .class file?
Forge compatibility will be coming when the Forge is fixed. Currently, they both edit some of the same files.
