One question, do I need to go back to a clean .minecraft jar and install optifine there or can I just overwrite the previous installation of Optifine? also love this mod, for me this is a must for minecraft

why cant i load my worlds up when this is installed

I get less FPS everytime I run Minecraft with OptiFine L installed. HALP

Forget it I had Forge installed.

I deinstalled Forge (and every other mod installed) and I still get more FPS without OptiFine L.

The OptiFine_1.5.1_HD_U_C4 can not use 1024x1024 texture packs

Sooner or later in my use of Optifine, I end up getting this strange warped terrain/bugged texture glitch, producing, well... This.

It's never been version specific, as it has happened in the past, regardless of what Optifine version I had used. (If I recall, it's even happened on my old computer...)

No idea what to make of this. The effects tend to be different from time to time as I use newer versions/Minecraft gets updated. (Last time, it was this giant black obelisk kind of thing of jumbled text.)

Thought I should report this. Using optifine HD c4 ultra. Forge 7.7.1.657. IndustrialCraft 2 1.115 dev build 297. Any idea why this occurs randomly on some textures? I've even had pipes use the wheat texture and had to restart my client to show up properly.

OptiFine has no limit on the size of the texture pack, however some functions use more memory than vanilla.
Mipmaps, AA and AF, Connected Textures, Custom Sky, Random Mobs and other need additional memory to load all the textures.

goes to show you were right sp! all those options reset my texture glitch whenever I toggle them so in the end I suspect a memory issue is whats causing all our headaches. Its a strange error though cause for me its regular and consistant. Other people are having the exact same issues but are unable to fix the issue the same way I am able to. Seeing how everyone has different ram set ups for thier systems they might not be able to fix a memory error the same way I seem to be able to. I think whatever is happening with the memory it is not quite as bad with my system and it is why when I reset any of those options you list above the problem corrects itself. Someone else with a system that has less ram available might be unable to fix the glitch.

Ultra C4 is a bit better than C1, 10% FPS increase from C1 to C4 (ultra). Yay!

The problem appears to be with Immibis Peripherals. It tries to load non-square textures via Forge special texture loading.
The bug is fixed in next version C5.

The B3 and C4 versions of 1.5.1 Optifine have caused issues with my chat font. Any ideas why?

I'm hoping for a little guidance from some people who know more than I do about this mod. I'm hoping to know what would be the ideal specs for my game, and to eliminate the issue of slowing down and locking up.

Some texture packs and/or mods have suggested I use this, but it seems it is really slowing my game down.

What happens is I will start playing, and within 5-10 minutes the game becomes unplayable (with or without texture packs).

The version I had installed was C4 Ultra, because I have a duo-core processor. I did go into my GPU settings and disabled Threaded Optimization.

My PC specs are:
Dell Vostro 220
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU - E7500 @ 2.93 GHz / 2.93 GHz
4 GB RAM
64-bit OS (Windows 7 Ultimate SP1)
Nvidia GeForce GT 430 (driver 311.06)

Also, I manually installed Optifine after installing Forge, as I wasn't sure if you could just put Optifine in the /mods folder. Was this incorrect? GuiAPI has to be manually installed also (from what I read on Mo'Creatures Site), so I installed Forge > Optifine > GuiAPI.

I know you plan to implement a number of MCPatcher features when things settle down, so I want to put this on your mind.
MCPatcher changes the appearance of blocks in your inventory based on CTM. This is especially useful for me because I'm using CTM to overwrite the unused metadatas of planks, marble, sandstone, etc. to add new blocks. You can really tell the difference in this comparison:

I will take a look at the font problem.
Using CTM for the blocks in the inventory is more complex and may be delayed.

Not sure: Custom Items Texture - this needs to modify a class which Forge already modifies a lot, so it is problematic.
