Idea! Why not craft a stronger "truss" block out of the scaffold block itself? That way those who use them for a scaffold wont be upset about a stronger block, while the builders will have a strong and nice looking truss texture.
Crafting could be two or 4 scaffolds for one truss block, to compensate for the relatively small material cost.
I agree that they should be climbable for the following reasons:
The scaffolding looks climbable.
It takes up more room then a ladder.
And can be instantly destroyed unlike ladders, making them bad for anywhere there could possibly be combat.
Also they supposedly catch fire, but I have not checked yet.

There is a rare mythical button called "Search" that likes to answer questions; however, due to its nature, it often blends in with its surroundings so as to remain hidden.
Good job on this. Don't think much of that wrench sprite, but since it's not yours I'll let you off. Hehe
Seeing as it LOOKS like it should be climbable, maybe it should be, to make building high easier. I see no point in having to add ladders to each block... Seeing as this is a construction block it makes sense.
Something occurs to me.. does scaffolding burn?
Did you create the block from scratch or base in on another block? The ladders and torch issue makes me suspect it may have been glass, or indeed a non-collision block like reeds of flowers.
I love these for building bridges and industrial like factory rafters
the only change they need is the ability to have ladders and torches on em.
Also i noticed a bug, water won't form water blocks over them.
Here are some pictures!
I've gotta say when i downloaded this i didn't think i would use it that much, but i have used it for builing alot of stuff like bridges and my runway to use with the plane mod. heres a and a

Here is a smaller one for signatures.

Thanks. Although the second pic seems to me to be a bit nondescriptive
Yah, the 1st pic cant be used as a signature, it is to big. Max size is 110x600.
I made that around 2AM, so i may make a better, more descriptive picture.
Edit: Oh your the OP, I didn't notice :3 would you like a more descriptive pic? Feel free to upload it your self for mass use.
All that I'm really asking for is the ability to place ladders on them :tongue.gif:
Also, why not ask Jehkoba if you can take a wrench texture from his steampunk texture pack?
If you want me to, I could probably do an edit, and transplant the iron head onto the wooden handle.
ed: Did it anyways. Not really sure how well it'd work in-game, because their are some un-blended pixels.
edos:
That edited wrench of mine looks just fine in-game.
Granted, it's a little more stylized than Vanilla Minecraft, but it doesn't look "bad" or anything.
Also, I'd change the wrench recipe to something a little less generic.
Can't think of any good blueprints that don't blow.
Gotta love it. I'm kind-of trying to not use mods at the moment, with 1.5 and all...:smile.gif: Anyways, awesome mod. Make sure you keep that 1.5 update handy just in case :biggrin.gif:
LOVE this mod!
May I suggest that this mod would then remove the ability for dirt or sand to be placed in towers greater than 1x1x10? After that they could just slide?
Same kind of replacement to improve intelligent gameplay as, say, 2x2 crafting's tree mechanic change, just a little more coding.

Minecraft technology - the logical way - the only way.
Good idea for iron scaffolding, I definitely see that as a more permanent block; usable both for structures and decoration.
If scaffolds were climbable they would be far less practical than ladders, as they take up more room and are extremely fragile. They also could not be used as airlocks like ladders (to hold back water or lava(especially if they burn)).
Iron scaffolds on the other hand; I tend to think they would not be climbable, simply because of their more permanent nature.
[Will look into making some scaffold textures]
EDIT:
It occurs to me.... where would you attach a torch to a scaffold? they're only thin beams...
If bamboo was ever implemented I think it would make a better building material for scaffolding. Great mod. I think it should be seriously considered to be implemented intrinsically to Minecraft.

I think that you are half right. I have decided that both will be climbable. The wood is too easily destroyed, the iron costs iron, which is rare, and they both take up a whole block of space. This might not make it into the next version though, and also, I'll probably change te recipe to make 8, not 16. Also, if you built a lot of scaffolding, the next version will probably change the default value to something higher so it won't get overwritten by the official block ids. Although I'm working on a way to change the block an item ids anyway sooooo, yeah. Anyway, back to coding.
Please change the wrench id to 2004?

that would be nice, the climbable part btw
