OOH, I forgot to mention, I've found a bug.
It seems that your check for changing the top texture doesn't check to see if the block is transparent or not, so if you have a button or anything like that on top of some scaffolding, it changes to the side texture. That is REALLY an eyesore if you're making temporary redstone tests.
ed:
You listed ID's earlier, but you also said we needed Modloader. I thought the entire point of Modloader was to make non-static ID's to decrease conflicts.
But, anyways, I really like this mod. So useful for building my giant aerial city of awesomeness.
I give this mod:
of 5.
Once you get back to me on that ID thing (or someone else does), it might even get bumped up!
(I'm using Notch instead of diamonds today, since it's his birthday and all)

ModLoader does NOT add dynamic IDs. It only allows modders to make mods which modify less original classes.
Okay, additional Scaffolding idea: Collapsible scaffolding. Like a ladder or piston style, but it will move you the WHOLE height of the scaffolding, allowing you to go and run for more materials, while having less scaffolding in your inventory.

Scissor lift eh? Hmmmm maybe. I was planning to make em climbable, but it turns out that how you climb in minecraft is not based on the block. It checks if you are next to a ladder block to see if u can climb, so the only way i could do it is if I edit the main mc code, and that could cause problems. Ill have to add some other way to get up and down from them.
i saw this mod along time ago and i was like "this is dumb" but the idea of a collapseable easy to make thing stuck in my head, and over time i realized how useful this mod really is, so after nearly a month since i first saw this mod i find myself googling "scaffolding mod." congratulations on this useful mod.
Edit: I would really like if you made it so you receive 16 again, or maybe make a properties file that says how many you can make, beacuse frankly, only getting 8 isn't worth the wood.
This is an awesome mod. Not only useful for building, I can make cool waves of block destruction with these (make a wall of wood scaffoldings and use a wrench from 1 end). I want it to be updated.
And the new version is out! Sorry for the delay, I completely forgot that I had a mod to worry about.
Now, you don't need to apologize, though I do believe some people would feel they need an apology for a simple delay...
I do believe you've stated you do this in your spare time, and I've found that real life always takes precedence over anything on the internet.
As such, delays from many different things are common.
Keep up the good work, and if you decide to contact Notch for official implementation of this mod into Minecraft, I'll be more than glad to pledge my vote for it to be added.

I have a useful idea, one that works with the Mod's theme of temporary building surfaces....
How about a Rope Ladder Block? Attach a block at the bottom of a Scaffold-Piece, and then begin jump-placing more beneath you. As you go up, the Ladder-Block adds a wood ladder to the side of the Scaffold. And when the Scaffold is knocked down, the Ladder-Block returns to its original inventory-state....
I know its no scissor-lift; but it might work just as well, since ladders on scaffolds have been around almost as long as scaffolds themselves....
BTW, I just downloaded the Mod; and cannot wait to try it out, since I'm more of a builder than a "survivor".....
A must have mod if you don't like to fly around.
Not sure of the benefits of iron scaffolds though, I'm usually not looking at the block I'm standing on when I'm destroying things.
Speaking of climbing... Can you place ladders on these blocks?
That would be great to make the scaffolds climbable...
Also, I think it would be better to not make them easy to break with standard tools BUT easy to break with the new tool (wrench for both Wood and iron scaffolds).
The axe would break the wood scaffolds by decomposing them in the materials used to build them.
The pickaxe would break the irone scaffolds by decomposing them like the axe for Wood scaffolds.
The wrench would break the scaffolds by pop them up with left click.
The wrench would break the scaffolds recursively by pop them up with rirght click.

I was going to use it to build a portal, but I'm not sure whether or not that's a good idea.
edit: It is, yes, don't do it.
BAD idea.
Left to go get some more wood, came back and my scaffold was on fire.

This mod is now on wiki: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Mods/Data_values.
On that page there was similar mod, but it was alpha-only. I replaced it with yours.
? I have no idea what you just said.

what is this? i don't even...

That would be pretty useful and epic! :smile.gif:
