I wanna see someone make a robot you can sit in the cockpit of, flip some switches and control it around your world. it would be massive, tell me this is possible though.
No, because you can't move pistons through space. You can push pistons with other pistons, but at least one of them has to be stationary.

you actually can, but it is VERY complicated, the only problem is you cannot move redstone dust, repeaters, switches and any other thing you would use to power it. also you would have to leave a trail of cobblestone behind to get all of your pistons. so its messy. if it were possible i would probably have a 8x8 trap floor already.

if only the face of one sticky piston could grab the face of another.

you could make sticky pistons keep the block infront of them even when the piston itself gets pushed to another direction
this would create the option for us to make hidden doors a bit smaller and make other things too
These both are impossible in this mod, because it doesn't support glue (and Autoglue).
But Hippo can't add glue to this mod, because this would mean using my code. Of course, hippo doesn't want this.
I don't know if this is possible or not with the physics in the game but one that would improve this quite a bit would be the ability to move blocks with redstone dust on them. Before I had downloaded this I had to go to work and came up with a method of using the pistons + redstone to make a combination vault door.

Just throwing that out there!

This feature is called Autoglue. It is already implemented in
ManufactoidCraft
Why can't you make a combo-lock with just redstone?

I made a hidden door: (Its harder to do then you think)
-snip-
Ill show you how I did it later =D
It's just a 2-stage door. It uses 6 sticky pistons. First 2 pistons pull the "door" inside. Then 4 other pistons pull 2 first pistons with the "door" to the side. To close the door, these 2 steps are made in reversed order.
You like pistons, right? Everybody likes pistons! But why do they have to be so short? Why can't they be twice as long? The answer is, of course, that science isn't about "Why?". It's about "Why not?". So why not make a longer piston? I bring you the Aperture Troll Science Extended Adhesive Monodirectional Mechanical Force Exerter:
Edit: It cut off a part of the post... Well, I don't feel like rewriting it. Those who are good with redstone will probably understand it from the picture.
Thanks for this. I had created a circut to do the same thing, but because I am a redstone noob, it was a horrible, overly complicated mess. This is clean and much more simple!
Anyone want to try to make a _triple_ sticky piston? that is, three sticky pistons that push a block forwards three blocks, then pull it back three blocks when switched off.

Here's a diagram showing the steps needed:
i dont think that diagram will work, the first piston won't be able to drop off its block.
I did a "rough draft", lots of sequencing needed: = block, = piston extension piece =piston
start with (block, p3,p2,p1 for instructions)
PUSHING (duh, obvious steps)
1) p1 activate
2) p2 activate
3) p3 activate
Now you have (block, ext,p3,ext,p2,ext,p1)
PULLING
1) p3 off
2) p2 off
3) p3 on (retrieves block it left behind)
4) p3 off
Now it's
5) p1 off
6) p2 on
7) p2 off
8) p3 on
9) p3 off
Back to
I don't have time to make the circuit right now, if no one does it before i get back i'll do it and make a video (either way actually ill prob make it later), you have to use offset redstone (p1 powered from behind, then 1 block ahead redstone on right,1 block ahead put redstone on other side of piston stack, etc etc wind up using 5 outputs 2 on left 2 on right and 1 in back of p1.
edit: actually if you just take your diagram and read from right-to-left then you have my steps lol so yea...

you were right actually, just had your diagram backwards, i noticed it and had to edit my post to add it in there. Like i said if no one else makes it i'll do it later, gotta go party for now though.
i have made a triple sticky piston. One button extends it completely. Other button contracts it 1 block. Pics tomorrow.
EDIT: I rebuild it to take screenshots, but it didn't worked as expected. The distance between end posititions of a dirt block is 3. But it stays in both only for <1 second :sad.gif:.
Maybe it is because it is orientation-dependant or chunk-border-dependant.

If you're still adding new features, I'd to see a piston that pushes a block to the next place, then retracts into the space vacated by the block it pushed.
I do have a small problem figuring out your design. Here is the part circled:
I rigged it to sort of work using an additional repeater and a switch on the top block, but it's clunky, and I cannot figure out just how to rig it up so the switch is somewhere else.
Is there anything not visible from this image, IE from the other side, or under blocks? Where is your switch?

So what you're asking for is a vehicle that pushes blocks in front of it?
I suppose, But it would be useful, for example, to having a moving "ship" of blocks.

There are already 10
00s of these doors.explain what you'd like.
do you want say a flat wall 2 wide x 5 high that when you pull a lever becomes a flat walkway?
I can probably manage that, not sure how much redstone it'd take.
in case you cant tell, im open for piston requests lol.

I believe that that is the Minecraft 4 Kids texture pack, with the cell shading mod.
