This mod has been remade. The link to the new forum is here.
This is mod that adds dragons into your game. Dragons can fly when ridden on and can be tamed, but you must train it by riding on it. If you ride it too much without success, it will start attacking you, but if it does this, you can still attempt to tame it. Once tamed, dragons will not despawn, and you can fly them around~ They will spawn on peaceful, but will not attack you (for the nonviolent people xP).
Dragons
Blue Dragon
The blue dragon has 12 health and will attack the player if attacked or usually if ridden on while not tamed. Thanks to SpaceInvaders for the texture, and PillowKitty for editing it.
Blue Dragon E2
The blue dragon's evolution! This dragon will occasionally but rarely spawn in the wild on its own. Thank you PillowKitty for fixing this texture up. (Image is outdated)
Green Dragon
The green dragon. It spawns on sand, and grass. It attacks a bit slower than the blue dragons, but deals more damage. It has no evolution for now, but there will be ones added in the future. Also thanks to PillowKitty for editing the texture.
Green Dragon E2
This is the green dragon's evolution. It has the same special ability as the green dragon, although it is much more powerful. When this dragon attacks something, they will get pushed back by a bit. Thanks to PillowKitty for the texture.
White Mystic Dragon
The white mystic dragon is the first dragon to fly on its own! It's movement is currently sort of creaky, but I'll try to fix it over time. Thanks to PillowKitty, who made this huge texture alone. Courtesy of ShipMaster for the new picture.
Some info..
Crafting a scale sword:
Where is a dragon scale.
Hitting a mob with the specific scale sword will have a specific effect:
Blue Scale Sword - slows the mob down for ten seconds
Green Scale Sword - shoots the mob into the air at a random height, and makes it fall quickly
Effects will only affect one mob at a time. Hitting a new mob will make force the effect onto the new mob. Scale swords do not have damage, although they are very unstable, and the chance of breaking increases each time you use it. Crafting a dragon staff:
Where is a dragon scale.
Right-click tamed dragons with a dragon staff to toggle aggressive-ness. To ride a dragon, you must right click it while holding nothing
Small dragons cannot be ridden, but you can feed them to make them bigger.
Dragons attack animals. If they are tamed, they will not unless agressive.
You can feed a dragon raw fish or meat as a replacement for riding it (throw it at them), but you'll still need a lot of meat. There is a chance that a dragon attacking you will stop if you feed it.
Most dragons evolve after fighting and killing a certain amount of mobs.
Feed tamed dragon cooked pork or cooked fish to make it stop moving (throw the meat at them). You can make it move again by riding it.
Dragons will eat any kind of food you throw at them. I've made it throwing instead of right-clicking to prevent yourself from eating the food. Food will heal a bit of a tamed dragon's health.
Right-clicking a tamed dragon with a compass will give you some basic information about that dragon.
For more information about the dragons, read the readme.
Dragon Eggs
When a dragon lays an egg, it will not hatch. Although, you can break it, and if you are lucky (you didn't kill the baby), it will drop a more hatchable egg. You can place this egg anywhere, and when you do, it will hatch into a baby dragon over time. Beware, these eggs are more fragile than the eggs that a dragon first produces, and will break easily.

Q: Why do I get a black screen?
A: Did you delete META-INF? Did you put the pictures in the right place? Did you download all the requirements?
Q: It's working, but I don't see any dragons.
A: Did you put the textures in the right place? Did you download Modloader? Are you blind? P:
Q: The dragon's not attacking any mobs. Is something wrong?
A: Remember, you have to make a sword of their color and hit them with it.
Q: The dragons don't make any sounds.
A: Did you download AudioMod? Did you put the 'mod' folder in resources into the resources in .minecraft?
Q: How do I add the alternative textures?
A: Download the texture you want, and open the directory called dragon in the Dragon Mod zip file. Inside, overwrite the image you want to replace. That's it (:
How To Install
Simply drag the files into the mod folder in .minecraft created by Modloader
open the zip file, and merge the resources folder with the one in .minecraft
~if you haven't already, delete META-INF
Here is an alternative image guide by Skullex:
Alright, so first, you're going to need the necessary mods: Modloader, Audiomod, Turbo Model Thingy, and finally, the current version for this dragon mod.
Now, locate your .minecraft folder. Go to your /bin/ and open up minecraft.jar. You know what to do, install in this order: Modloader, Audiomod, Turbo Model Thingy. DON'T DO THE DRAGON MOD YET. Also, take note of the Turbo Model Thingy .rar I circled. That's the one you should be using(Flan's)
After doing the same thing with Audiomod and Turbo Model Thingy, close whatever everything else besides the /.minecraft/ folder just for the sake of ease.
Now, open up the Dragon Mod.zip, and go to /RESOURCES/. Now go back to your /.minecraft/ folder and go to /resources/. Drag the /mod/ folder from the .zip and put it in the /resources/ folder in your /.minecraft/ folder. It'll ask if you want to merge, say Yes. If it asks you to do anything else, then it's Yes to All, and Move and Replace.
Now, close the Dragon Mod.zip and go back to your /.minecraft/ folder and locate the /mods/ folder. If you don't have one, create one and name it "mods". Find where the Dragon Mod.zip is located. Drag THE ENTIRE Dragon Mod.zip(or copy and paste one) and put it in the /mods/ folder.
Now, you're done. And to prove it works, I started a new world. The first thing I see when I got out of a little sand pit was this:
Block And Item IDs
You can change these in the properties file if they conflict with another mod. Make sure you have none of these items/blocks in your inventory or chests before you change the values.
930, 931, 932, 950
140, 141, 142
Compatibility
Warning! Just because this mod is compatible with the ones below doesn't mean they will all work together. Some mods may conflict with others. Also, take note that some incompatibilities may be caused by conflicting IDs for blocks or items, which can now be changed in the mod_Dragon.cfg config file produced in .minecraft/config.
Green means they are compatible. Purple means they have id conflicts. Red means they aren't compatible.
Current Bugs
Blue Dragon E2 causes the game to lag extremely badly for some computers

Awsome looks like one of kodachis works (my favorite modder xD)
This is not what its going to be maked i just put up many of my ideas
Things you sould do :
Make them very rare spawn alone
requie saddel to ride when tamed (fed 10-20 raw fish)
Make them not despawn afther tamed you can make them untamed by feeding them raw egg this will also make them dropp their golden bell that you can craft into 1 gold ignot
they will get a gold bell when tamed around their neck
change sound (maybe i like em but maybe sometimes a little to cow)
add more dragons
make it possible if you held a coal right click it it will eat your coal and breath fire
Make them attack zombies and skeltons not creepers
make them heal if feed raw fish if not allready done
make them fly bether around in the sky
maybe make them grow (if so very very very future update xD i thinl)
Make possibleity to find nests guarded by big dragons
Make earth dragons without wings fast and strong make spawn on grass / dirt
make fire dragons (if added) spawn on lava/fire
make blue dragon spawn flying
make black spawn on dark cobble stone / smothstone
make yellow small peacefull dragon spawn close to flowers this can not be tamed and will just walk around peacefully and smell on flower (bow its head down) and will grow aftehr long time into a storm dragon(hostisle)
Now, make like... HUGE ONES like, Gigantic ones that flies around in the sky, and if u bother them ( Riding another dragon and getting too close, or attacking ) They'll fire a Fireball at u thats almost instant kill ( 9 hearts )
For the fireball thing u could prolly just use the ghast fireball model thingie and all, just increase damage.
Very nice however I do have one TINY complaint...
I think the sounds are great and they move just fast enough not to be overpowered... you know... they're great.
But they're too... idk... he won't shut up ;_; he's in my house constantly making noise.
Maybe make the sounds less frequent?
Double the time? something...
The sounds aren't BAD and I really love the mod but he's soooo noisy lol

haha, that's funny :biggrin.gif: Here's what you outta add +LIST OF STUFF THAT'LL TAKE FOREVER TO CODE, I'll add more later.
Seriously, though, I've been looking at some tutorials and it's not horribly complicated people. I mean, even to me whose only coding experience is the couple of days I attended a java class before dropping out of it. I did the little hello message :biggrin.gif:
But seriously, its largely common sense (logic gates after all). I'm surprised that there are so many individual modders on minecraft, someone comes up with a neat mod like this and everyone's immediately all over him with stuff he needs to add which obviously he knows about, just hasn't had time or hasn't figured out how to do yet. Some of the people asking for new features ought to google "minecraft modding tutorial" and check out some of the links (since the search bar is down) and see if its something you think you might be able to manage. Most games that have good modding communities (pretty much every decent first person game, and that's including consoles (haha yes I'm saying there isn't a decent fps on the consoles, and there isn't just a bunch of ripoffs of game mechanics that were done ten years ago on PC with some higher res textures) don't do these one-modder one-mod deals like people seem to prefer on minecraft. Mebbe that's just because its so early in its development, but you already see some projects like the Aether that have multiple modders, and a couple of the most experienced ones have contributed help or advice to dozens of smaller mods.
With all the people wanting a dragon mod, someone outta set up a team, divide up the code that's necessary, and really tear into it :biggrin.gif: I was thinking of trying it myself after I finish digging through all the tutorials I can find, but didn't want to deal with the trouble of trying to make one with a jointed wing (because to me a large model looks silly flying with a one-pane wing) so instead I think I'm going to try to make a tameable superman mob once I figure things out :biggrin.gif: I wanna figure out how to make him switch between different modes of attack depending on how you do though so I can have him start off with laser blasts or maybe picking people up and dropping them from very high (sdk's flamethrower code looks good for a stream of fire or heat vision, and the fairy mod and a couple others have code for taking enemies up into the air and dropping them), and then more desperation type attacks as his health gets lower (to counter the player that tries to take cover, I want him to dive straight at his enemy when his health gets below a certain percentage and tunnel in a dozen blocks or so like mo creatures' ogre). The same kinds of code is out there as an example for anyone working on dragons though, and a team of a couple of people (maybe each working on a different dragon) could probably put out something pretty awesome :biggrin.gif:

I know this is exstremly complicated im not expecting all this im just hopeing it could awaken some ideas
But makeing diferent try dragons souldetn be to hard and make them rare
i belvie the 1st ones would be sky dragon (allrady made but needs to spawn in air)
and Earth dragon fast strong without wings spawn on dirt / rarer on grass
Not criticizing or anything man, just saying look up those tutorials. Maybe it's something you could help with. I'd kinda like to see more big mod teams on this game, see what kind of crazy stuff they turn out :biggrin.gif:
Also pointing out that a lot of the requisite code is already there in other mods. You can look there, see what they did to achieve certain effects. For instance you want big dragons, but incase you haven't noticed most giant creatures in this game look kind of silly. They look like big holograms, because they don't really interact with the environment and they don't move much. Maybe with that Mo Creature ogre code though you could have them tear through certain materials once they're big enough - forest canopy, and then even trees and maybe dirt if they run into a steep slope.
The same goes for a lot of other stuff, there are all kinds of pretty awesome effects that assorted MC modders have put together. Ghast fire turned to flame streams for the fire dragons, freeze and incapacitation effects for water, earth moving effects for earth and so on. Just needs a good group of people to go out there and comb through it and hack it all together into a working form :biggrin.gif: It's a lot of work for just one guy, putting a whole new family of creatures into the game and doing them the individual justice that's called for by the sheer volume of people requesting dragons in MC. Not to mention that other modders have mostly stayed away from the concept, so I'm betting there's some difficulty there even though all the parts of the equation seem to be in place in various mods and official features.
Please read the whole post and the rest of the forum before posting questions. I won't answer answered questions.

For the fireball thing u could prolly just use the ghast fireball model thingie and all, just increase damage.
Come visit this YouTube channel for just Minecraft
Would it be possible to have dragons grow? So you gotta tame them while they're young? And they grow while tamed?
The other dragon mod doesn't even compare to this!
Suggestions: Harder to tame, feed it porkchops or something. Won't despawn when tamed.
Much rarer.
Better sounds, they get annoying after 20 seconds.
I really like them a lot. :3
Incredibly awesome mod just like your spiderpigs mod! Good jobs!
日本の平安を祈ります。
haha, that's funny :biggrin.gif: Here's what you outta add +LIST OF STUFF THAT'LL TAKE FOREVER TO CODE, I'll add more later.
I need to know this too & do the wings flap? One of you enterprising rapscallions (word of the day) needs to make a video-Please
V5 cause i tested it with my other v5 mods
