A well executed little mod. Haven't tested it in 1.1 yet, but you seem to be on top of the bugs.
If I may make a suggestion, could it possibly be a little bit more expensive, perhaps as an upgrade to the 'standard' compass? Having some way to switch needles on and off in-game would be very handy as well.
Would break multiplayer compatibility (without the server having the mod installed) so no.
Since you said "please". Updated the 1.1 findercompass.cfg with an option to disable the default 2 needles.
Ah, thank you very much.
But as it seems, this doesnt work with version 1.0.0, am i right?
Could you please be so kind and add it also to the 1.0.0 version?

Edit: i am sorry to bother you again, but it doesnt work. The game is starting, but the compass is just the normal one, without any extra needles.
Please see error log available here: http://pastebin.com/N6trv1Z1

Your OptiFine version differs from the one i made it compatible with.
EDIT
Actually it says so on your Log. You use the Multithread version which is _the_ version to have issues with. Change to classic or smooth.

Strange one, cause before i asked you for the tweak with the default needles, everything was working fine. i had optifine multithread and i had finder compass.
I saw, when copying your newly created files for 1.0.0, that the new ones where kinda smaller as the old file, but i didnt keep the old ones :sad.gif:
Ok, i will be using another version of optifine than multithread.
thanks anyway,

EDIT: I just tested it with the standard optifine and it also didnt work. Same Error as above posted.
EDIT2: Ok, i found the above mentioned older aih.class, its about 4kb greater then the new i downloaded today.
Hey this is my first mod I ever downloaded and can you please help me with some questions? I have 4 needles, a green red yellow and orange needle. I read on a previous page I believe that you said you could turn two of them off. how do I edit the .cfg file though and also what do the needle each mean? thank you

I can help - this is one of the MODs I like as it's not really 'cheating' IMHO
It tells you there's stuff nearby - BUT you still gotta search for it (unlike things like Xray where you can 'see' exactly where it is)
In the /.minecraft/ folder there should be a file called 'findercompass.cfg'
Open this up in 'Notepad' (for windows - don't know what the equivalent is for Mac's)
and you'll see lines like
52:26:255:26:60:60:1:100:1
//
// this is "Mob Spawners" = 52, with a needle color of {26,255,26}, 60 width and 60 depth, from 1-100 height, big scan every 15 seconds
//
// - lapis lazuli
//21:55:70:220:15:1:1:100:0
//
In this case, 'Mob spawner' (52:26:255:.....) is 'enabled' while 'lapis lazuli' (21:55:70:220...) is DISabled
you'll know this because the numbers for 'lapis' have a '//' in front of the numbers while 'spawner' doesn't
To Enable anything - remove the '//' from the numbers & save the file
To Disable anthing - ADD a '//' (without quotes) to the line that have the numbers in it
As for 'what they mean' it is dependant on the 2nd/3rd/4th number in the line of numbers
These are the Red,Green,Blue colour values of the needle that shows on the compass
If the numbers were 255:0:0 then the needle would be 'Pure Red' - since the first number is 'R' & has a value of '255', while the 'green' and 'blue' are both '0'
If the numbers were 0:0:255 then the needle would be 'Pure Blue' (Red=0/Green=0/Blue=255)
A google search for RGB colours should help you determine what colour is what (I found a picture that might help)
@ AtomicStryker: suggestion (although I guess it would be difficult since the cfg is read on loading) - any chance of 'turning on/off' needles while in game ??
There's time I want to look for a specific item (chest sometimes/ diamond others) but having to quit game & alter cfg each time is a pain
Would it be possible to have a 'load cfg' hotkey in game that loads in a different cfg file each time
e.g. say I have a FinderCompass01.cfg' and a Findercompass02.cfg - each time I press a button on the keyboard, it will load in the 'other' cfg file than that is already loaded (so if '01' is loaded when game started,then it'll load '02' & visa versa)
Would break multiplayer compatibility (without the server having the mod installed) so no.
could you please make the red and yellowish needle optional?

Thank you, man. Really nice.
