I might have missed this if anyone mentioned it earlier... but is it supposed to be that, after going a certain distance, no more ruins seem to ever spawn? Because I've got their spawn rate set to be pretty high... but no matter how high I set it... it seems like once I get beyond a certain point... I never find any more.
Is this just my bad luck? Is it just because of the horribly inhospitable terrain?
I'm just curious, really, whether or not this is a known issue...

I'm digging the ruins you created... totally... but for some reason, the pillars caused my game to crash. I'm not really sure why... I'm going to try to make them work again once I've had some time to explore the others!
Awesome work, though! Definitely keep 'em coming!

Thanks for the compliments.
No idea why the pillars template would crash your game, though -- all of the templates I've posted I've had the game generate several times over with no crashes whatsoever. I'm guessing it must be some random effect, such as a bad constellation of circumstances triggering those crashes. If you could post exception stack traces of those crashes, that'd no doubt be useful to d00dv4d3r or others.
I'm still digging around into it, myself... I can't seem to get it to generate an error... even in command console mode. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's something I myself have screwed up... as I'm prone to screwing things up quite frequently... so if I find out what I've done, I'll let you and d00dv4der both know!
More ruins, too? SWEETn3ss! Time to try 'em out, then!
Cheers!

Hey guys i'm new here but i have a good bit of experience with playing Minecraft. however i'm not Java code savvy. My problem is that i have a few schematics that i would like to convert and then share but since there is no documentation that comes with the converter and i am inept with coding I've hit a road block. It seems like other people on this thread have had sucess with this and i was wondering if anyone can give me some help with how to use the converter. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
I'm getting a black screen on startup, even with just this mod and modloader.

If you're callin' about the Mobtalker scripts, I no longer have access to them.
However, it's been getting tempting lately to put together a modpack that includes CustomNPCs, so I could definitely work in something along the same themes in the modpack's quests. Feel free to give suggestions of mods that promote an experience which minimizes mining grind in favor of exploration. I'll likely have to include Grimorie of Gaia to provide good models (No I'm not gonna directly change the default mob models)
this doesn't seem to be compatible with the latest Millénaire release...as soon as the first town is generated, it no longer builds ruins in either the surface or nether. No error in the log...it just...stops.
I even tested this with setting the chance for ruins to be 100%, with 100% site chance, and to run 4 times...got ruins everywhere...right until a village was built...then nothing. Oh well...I like ruins a whole lot better than NPCs, so no hard choice.
Hey curio! I solved the issue with the Ruined Pillars you created...
Turns out, I'm an idiot! Big surprise there, eh? :tongue.gif:
Anyhow, while copy/pasting from the forum here to Notepad++... I somehow managed to get all those extra spaces folks were mentioning before by using the 'select all' button. Not that big a deal, really, since I went back in and fixed it manually... but I don't really even know why I pressed the button in the first place!
I did all the rest manually, and BEFORE hand.
I must've gotten tired and lazy.
Meh... either way, love the pillars! :happy.gif:
Oh, and your ruined chapels inspired me. I really dug the idea of fending off zombies and skeletons while hiding out on consecrated ground.
So when daylight came again, I decided to spruce the place up a bit... you know... give it a makeover.
Here's some of my work, so far.
Construction is on-going.
I literally built this OUT of a ruined chapel! It started off just as you intended... but I felt a bit cramped inside the thing, you know? So I had to expand it out a bit.
I would have had the Bell Tower and the massive Steeple completed by now... but alas... I got distracted by constructing the under-croft, so I could have a place to sleep.
Just thought you might enjoy seeing what your own work has brought to life!
Here's a or for being my muse!

A thread on mmc listing all templates in this thread (page 7 and later), where you can post your own templates. Too bad the code tags don't work the same way in that forum, it takes a lot of space.
it crashes when the building terrain bar is about a third full, i have no idea what to do with the schematic converter. good mod but needs better installation instructions!!!

This has been answered many times: remove the talltower.tml from the ruins folder.
I'm quite pleasantly surprised... not only with some of the amazing ruins which folks have supplied to make this mod even better... but also with the -quality- of said ruins, overall.
I have -yet- to see anything which left me feeling particularly disappointed.
The only disappointing thing about this mod so far, is that there aren't -more- ruin templates being provided... but I've got faith that this might change over time!

I think it will. Like the tall grass mod, it adds SO much to the game without adding 'too' much. It's hard to find that boundary, The modder has not only done that, it looks like he's also made it very customizable to the online community.
People aren't only making 'ruins' with this, either! It's possible to make generated monuments... to generate cities... to make landscapes which bewilder the senses. The possibilities are truly only limited to the imaginations of those who take up the challenge of building their own template.
I've really enjoyed what the community has produced thus far... and I'm really excited to see what they come up with next!

I'll most likely add some more ruins and dungeons after 1.5 is out and this mod gets updated. I put a lot of time into the 2 I did make and I want to make sure that Dood is still planning on future updates.

I tried posting my 2 from page 12 of these forums, but either I am dumb(quite possible) or they are too long to fit in the other forums that you have posted a link to.
Also, it does not have all of the templates from page 7 and later. Please do not mislead people so they do not bother checking for the templates people have spent a lot of time making.
Each time it immediately crashes while building terrain. :sad.gif:
Halfway through it.
I'm hoping it's just one world that got messed up.
But it's odd, I mean, it never happened to me before, and my world is fine, but my inventory is completely reset to the beginning.
I lost a lot of good stuff. :sad.gif:
Is this just my bad luck? Is it just because of the horribly inhospitable terrain?

I wish it was an option in vanilla MC.
Diamonds for you sir.

I use Misa's. I think the style is great AND it performs well on my PC.
I haven't played Minecraft for awhile, but I answered your questions that you asked. I was hoping you could help me. :sad.gif:
