Both of you overwrite WorldRenderer.class (whatever its obfuscated name is) after having it patched by Dynamic Lights. Not good.
MCPatcher relieves me of the need to update for every version, you of the need to keep track of versions or wait for updates, and it allows compatibility with most mods that change the same classes. It was fairly hard to port, i am not going back, and your unwillingness to figure out how to use a one-click-tool is nothing but sad.
Now that confuses me if that's the case, because my install order was:
Fresh > Optifine > Modloader > ModloaderMP > Forge > Minecart Compatibility > Dynamic Lights, it was the last installed so shouldn't be overridden, right? *headscratch* Unless that file is in optifine and not the lights.

Give me the mcpatcher patch log of when you patch in Dynamic Lights.

I've used MCPatcher extensively, and will continue to do so, and I have had no problems applying Dynamic Lights through MCPatcher when a limited selection of mods is used.
However, when utilizing mods that are not MCPatcher "friendly" it would still be nice to have your Dynamic Lights (I like your mod). So maybe later I'll patch a vanilla and use a jar diff to pull out what gets modified for use when I'm forced to put together a pack manually.
One comment though, anyone that takes the time to actually post in the thread, even if complaining, is a fan of your modification at some level - so while I understand your frustration (especially after the efforts involved in porting your mod to MCP), demeaning your fan base (even the frustrated and ignorant ones) is probably best avoided.
You might also want to update the instructions on the OP, to remove the bit about manually installing.
Suggestion:
Add an enchantment to swords/tools/armor that makes them glow!
If your wearing a piece of armor that is classified as "glowing", does it provide light?
I used the newest MCpatcher and followed everything you said.
Mcpatcher doesnt show "Dynamic lights" even though i did everything you said and extracted it to the right folder and all ;P
I've seen many people complain.
I even tried clicking the "+" button in MCpatcher and added the mod manually like that.
BUT that didnt even work -.-

Does ModLoader support adding Enchantments yet? Are they uniquely identifiable by ID or something akin? If so, i might think about this feature.
Would be nice if all of us who followed your instructions TO THE LETTER would get a reply and some guidelines on how to install your mod. I have personally been trying to install it about 20 times so far, both with and without MCPatcher, always starting from a fresh minecraft.jar and also with and without other mods. Best case, the game would run but the mod would have no visible effect whatsoever. Worst case, the game wouldn't even go past the Mojang screen.
Quote from me, just a couple posts earlier .. would be nice if people read my replies »

Well, Mr. followed the instructions to the letter, guess what it is that you did not do whatsoever.
As the Mastermind would say, your commitment to failure leaves me no other option.
I will try again.
Extract the downloaded archive (the file you receive through the adfly link) into your .minecraft folder.
[thats step 1 and incidentally the one you did not follow already]
You will then have a dynamiclight.settings in your .minecraft folder and a mcpatcher-mods folder that wasn't there previously
[If this is not the case you still did something wrong]
Now run mcpatcher and select your Dynamic Lights version. It MUST have a description when clicked upon, not a number of files. If it shows a number of files you did it wrong.
Heres a question, is it possible to install this mod without MCpatcher? I was kinda wanting to put it in a mod pack i was making for my server but unfortunately it seems as thought it can only be installed with MCpatcher. I saw that there is instructions for installing without MCpatcher, but it seems as though they no longer apply to the current version (1.0.0) is this correct? In addition, if the mod HAD worked in the installer, i would have asked before proceeding to release a mod pack with it in it.
can you post a link for a non mcpatcher installation file and make sure the instructions on the post works, pleas, pleas, pleas? thnx if you do. the reason I ask is I'm getting ready to use optifine and not sure if I can use mcpatcher to install this and still use optifine. If so can you give me step by step instructions for a non mac? thnx for the help again.
It most certainly works with the current classic and smooth versions (those i use myself) and will stay that way until there is a major change in the Optifine or Minecraft codebase.
Did you even READ what you quoted? It clearly says (ModLoader edition). Obviously you'd know better how to handle and install mods than the guy who made them.
1) Tweak your graphics settings. They're up too high for your system. Minecraft is deceptively resource-intensive, and Dynamic Lights notably increases the demands on your system. That's just the nature of the mod. I can run Minecraft at a smooth 30-40 FPS with Optifine and Dynamic Lights installed on my 2yo MacBook, although it's on Normal distance (not Far), and several other graphics settings were tweaked around.
2) I just wouldn't use this mod in SMP. Lighting is an extremely important mechanic in Minecraft, and Dynamic Lights makes what you see in your client not what is really happening on the server.
This mod is amazing but mcpatcher is ****. It breaks most mods, is useless as optifine provides hd support and because of this I cannot use your mod. The install through mcpatcher thing is also useless as any person with half a brain can add a mod for minecraft. Please come out with a version that doesn't rely on the garbage service that is mcpatcher.

Mods ported to bukkit ^, ME GUSTA
There is. They aren't.
Unlikely, and not happening.
just sayin
