Please leave some feedback, even if it's a simple "works". This is my first mod I've ever released throughout all the games i've modded. Never felt confident they were ready. Maybe even post a screenshot. I haven't seen it in any texture size other than 32x32. I really want to see 16x16 the most since I'm thinking there might be an error with the way it displays the digits.
For Minecraft version 1.3_01
Height Display:
The digital readout displays the players height. The exact block level it's printing out isn't the one you're standing on, it's the one you're looking directly at when you're standing still.
Distance Meter:
The distance meter has one strip out of the bar pulse slowly corresponding to your proximity to the spawn point (towards the red side is closer, towards blue is farther). when you get within 3% of the maximum distance from the spawn the whole meter will flash instead of one bar. it will also flash faster the closer you are until you're right on top at which point it will STAY lightened. when you go beyond the maximum read distance the whole meter will pulse darker. the distance meter also has a maximum distance at which it will read. Later on i'll make it so you can set the max distance variable within minecraft. As of right now though, it's a constant 2500 units.
Watch:
The left side of the watch bar is just after noon and going towards the right goes into night, then back into the day all the way on the right. When it should go past the last bar it loops back to the first.
Compass:
Circling the the perimeter of the multitool is the compass. The compass section has a red bar which constantly points north and a green bar constantly pointing to the spawn point. they each have a bar on the exact opposite side of the compass. the red north bar has a black bar pointing to the south and the green spawn bar has a white bar one pointing away from the spawn. these are so you can tell where it's pointing while that bar is offscreen. The black and white opposite bars don't flash like the red and green do. The middle of the top of the altimeter is the direction you're facing. Example: if the red bar is in the center of the top half of the multitool you're facing directly north.
A special function of this compass and the distance meter are that they will point to and show the distance from the last portal you came through while you're in the nether as long as you don't close the game. It records the coordinates you're at the moment you enter the nether and they stay recorded as long as the game isn't closed. If you DO close while in the nether you'll need to exit the nether and re-enter and it'll record the new entry point.
The recipe for the MultiTool is:
= Redstone
= Compass
BACKUP YOUR "if.Class" before using this mod. Also, I've included textures for 16x, 32x, 64x, and i got lazy with the 128x so it's just a rescaled 64x. DOWNLOAD
Something I'm ALREADY AWARE OF is that the higher res skins will be harder to read the thin little bars for the clock and distance meter. I'm going to work on this next.
heres some pictures.

If you want to edit the picture to suit your style then please remember to NOT EDIT THE MASK unless you want to edit my code as well.
P.S. The pics after this point are from the old version. I'm only keeping there to show how the distance meter and height gauge work.
P.S.S. My spawn point is dead center of my base.
Altimeter is released. Read the first post again before downloading. there is no readme yet since i'm not done enough to call it more than a beta.
Also, after i make this an item separate from the watch entirely, I'm planning on adding a clock meter and a compass. dont ask me how i'm planning to do it because i'm not planning to do it soon, but i do have mapped out exactly what will go where. bad news though is that the compass part might not be able to be done on anything smaller than 32x32 tilesets.
Finally a friggen reply to my efforts lol. Anyway, I've already fully finished the watch code for it as well as making it a separate item from the watch (The watch doesn't function though because i'm still trying to sort a few things out with it.). I'm currently working on the compass part of it and I SHOULD be done with that part in a few days at the most. I'm going to make it so it has a green strip point to the spawn point and a red one point north. After I get the compass function working I'll work on making it not interfering with the watch at all. The watch is craftable right now, It just doesn't do anything.
After you release the altimeter (Great Idea by the way) Maybe make it so it glows a certain color when your on the layers with diamond/gold/iron/coal/redstone etc?
I actually thought about that before i even posted a thread. Had half the code already in place when I realized that the layers overlap and I wanted to get some feedback on how I should color code it since redstone and diamond are around the same level for example. Then I thought that if i do it color coded for the general height where the resources are it wouldnt be too useful since lots of people already know.
if you guys can come up with a good idea then i'd be happy to look it over.
Also, I just modified the altimeter so it'll read past, and up to, 1000 correctly, albeit it display it in hex up to 4096 which is FFF. It only displays in hex once you're over 999 though.
Released a version which still breaks the watch, but still allows it to be crafted and all the multitool's function work completely. read the thread for info on how everything works. Also, if anyone would be so kind, I'd love a video demonstration. My comp isn't up to recording ANYTHING. it hates fraps and i dont wanna search for other video recorders.
every time i try to use this mod i get the following error. so if some one here could tell me what the problem is that would be much appreciated. and if its an item ID's thing could you tell me what this mods items ID is so that i can change my loaded mods ID's accordingly. thanks

I just finished updating the multitool to 3.1_01 so it should work now.
This looks really useful indeed, slight problem though:
According to mediafire:
Invalid or Deleted File.
The key you provided for file download was invalid. This is usually caused because the file is no longer stored on Mediafire. This occurs when the file is removed by the originating user or Mediafire.
If you believe you have reached this page in error, please contact support.
Please provide some feedback as well. Even if it's a simple "works". This is my first mod i've ever released to the public in all the games i've modded since i usually never finish.
Had the same problem earlier, but it fixed itself. Now it seems to be back.
I believe this to be a mediafire problem, so try again in a little while. :smile.gif:
Perhaps an alternative download link would be in order?
Dropbox seems to be the common/popular choice for that.
Sorry about that, I updated the download last night and friggen mediafire said it would swap out the link with the new one. apparently it didnt. i'm not trying that crap again. I've fixed the download link. What i was updating was a little bug with the 64x and higher res skins.

I can see what you mean in the pics from the bar gauging distance from spawn.
Once you get this done and separated from the watch, it ought to be awesome.
Diamonds to you,

Looks a bit odd in 3rd person view though because of the size, but otherwise good job :smile.gif:
