I like the whirlwinds, but I can't seem to find any! What are the conditions for them? They seem kind of sporadic. I can go forever without seeing any and then find 3 together. And after installing mo' creatures, I don't think I've seen a single one.
Is the whirlwind classed as a mob or something, and so with the larger number of mobs being generated there's less chance of a whirlwind spawning?
Edit: Alright, after exploring for a long time I did find one, so it's working, I guess they're just rarer.
DAMN YOU KODAICHI! D8<
you made something i cant resist xD
I always wished the saving/loading screens lasted longer so that i could read the hints XD
Im definately going to download this. Dunno about the whirlwinds though.. . . .
HINTS! here i come!
you did put 'easter eggs' in it to right? xD

Once upon a minecraft time. there was a dayblock.. and then a creeper... and thats when i remembered it was just monday, and turned over and went back to sleep.
Good job, I'm guessing that the whirlies are a mob surrounded with the particle effects? And the miner trivia just reminded me of Yahtzee's review of CoD 4 where he said that the loading screens always give out useless advice like "Did you know that you can throw a grenade back?".

I I am the darkest shadow, the brightest light, the most dangerous advesary and the best ally. Choose your words wisely, for they may be your last.
I am about to try out both mods. However, I already came up with a few suggestions:
-It would be awesome if the whirlies scaled in size, color, and level of danger depending on the difficulty. On hard, you could get several sizes of whirlies, the largest of which might be something like 10 blocks high and a dark grey color.
-If whirlies go into water, they (while floating on top of water) could draw water up and increase in size, then become a large stormy whirlie and return to land to wreak havoc on pigs.
Haven't tested this, but what happens when a whirly falls into a cave/pit? If it doesn't already, I think it should make a WHOOSH sound as it agitates the air in the cave and then dissipates.
Nice Whirlwind mod but what if you took it a step further? Made a Tornado Mod, imagine how your whirlwind throws out items but what if it got bigger and tore blocks out of the ground? and spun them around as a full sized block and then tossed them in different directions landing still as a solid block! Of coarse the Tornado would be much larger than the small wind you have right now. I don't know but thats just an idea of a Mod I think a lot of people would enjoy including myself :smile.gif:
I love these two mods..they are small but add to the games atmosphere... now I am used to reading the MinerTrivia every time I load my world : ) and I have only seen a whirlwind a couple of times..
EDIT:oh god i just noticed that whirlwinds are mobs......Single player commands time >:biggrin.gif:
Overload whirwinds in a small space and when they die down, collect all teh goodies,
or alternatively, make a "viewing" point above a spawner and watch the mobs crash into the walls >:biggrin.gif:

If you want me to see a message or reply to it, quote me, don't just add a new reply in a "slow thread" hoping I will. Thanks
I think I've found out why I couldn't find any Whirlwinds in the wild.
I believe Optimine conflicts with them.
Well crap. That's not it. Made a new map with just those two mods installed and working, and Whirlwinds appeared.
Woe is me. I just can't get them to appear on my main world, in the wild at least. I have to create a new world, then they appear. I'm convinced they hate that world's seed or something..
Could you make variations to the whirlwind? Like, small whirlwinds would be a simple dust devil or something. Moderate whirlwinds would be a little more violent and about 10 blocks tall and 2-5 blocks wide. They would be a small tornado or something to that nature. Then a big whirlwind. Basically a tornado. It could go up to cloud level, the skys would turn dark like a thunderstorm. It should be 20 blocks wide and x blocks (cloud level) high. I'm not saying you have to make it, but I am saying if you did, I would definately download it. I would give you sooo many diamonds that you would have an ocean,I would officially name you the best mod creator EVER, and I would give you a hug. :smile.gif:

Whats the point of learning from your mistakes if you can't laugh at yourself while making said mistakes?

Seriously. Anyone else have this problem?
I've gotten Whirlies to spawn with a mob spawner, but I've never seen one in the wild! Using ModLoader v5.

*sits and waits patiently*
*and eats popcorn*
The whirlwinds was such a nice touch that made the Minecraft world seem surprisingly more alive...
Show your support for the best mod ever!
Excited for "When it's done" to come.
Hands down, the best texture pack.
