ATTENTION:
Cosmic Mods have not been updated in quite a while.
It will be updated soon for Minecraft 1.0!
Please read my latest post for more information on this!
Introducing.... Miner's Paradise Pack!
Features:
Copper, Alloy Metal, Bronze, and other 3 new types of Metals, rarer than diamond.
Master the art of mining by obtaining the power of infinium tools, everlasting and ever-powerful! And ever so RARE!
(At the moment, bronze doesn't do anything. Uses for it will be added in the next big update!)
Hints:
The order of the new materials, goes along with the originals:
Wood > Stone > Iron > Diamond > Mythite > Unobtainium > Infinium.
Copper fits in after Stone, but it is not required for mining Iron. It simply creates efficient tools before finding Iron.
To make Mythite/Unobtainium/Infinium Tools, you have to use METAL BAR created from two 'ALLOY' ingots.
Recipes:
To make Metal Bars, simply stack two 'ALLOY' ingots.
Then you simply follow the regular tool recipes, except you replace 'Sticks' with Metal Bars.
And a complete pic of tools, new and old, courtesy of dasdestroyer:
Introducing.... Cosmic Gems mod!
Features:
Rubies, Sapphire, Emeralds, Topaz, and Amethysts! Tons of 'pretty blocks' to enjoy!
(These do not make tools and never will. For decoration only, at the moment.)
New Ores and Blocks!
(The bright white block in the upper left is a regular Iron Block. Pay no attention to it...)
Introducing.... Quartz mod!
Adds Quartz that naturally spawns within cave structures. Can create an exciting new type of cave atmosphere!
(And they are pretty good Windows, too. No other uses, mostly just for atmosphere and decoration right now.)
A naturally occuring Quartz Cave!
Finally... Introducing Missing Blocks!
Missing Blocks mod adds two blocks 'missing' from vanilla Minecraft, Redstone and Coal blocks.
You make them with the standard recipes, 9 coal/redstone (3x3) in the crafting box, and you're done!
Can of course, be converted back into coal/redstone the same way as any other block. 1 block = 9 items.
You can also use Coal Blocks as a cheap, efficient, and powerful fuel source... just don't waste it, it burns for a long time! Credit goes to noahmurad for the suggestion.
Pic of 'Missing Blocks' ( + awesome Unobtainium Sword ):
Installation instructions:
1. Install Modloader, and Shockah's ToolUtils.
2. Simply Drag and Drop the contents of the Zip into your minecraft.jar. DONE, ENJOY!
Optional Instructions:
3. In the 'CosmicMods' folder there are two settings files. Properties and IDs. Locate these files.
4. Set 'false' to mods you want to disable (there is also an option to turn off Infinium's infinite durability: if you DO NOT WANT infinite durability it should be 'true'.)
5. If you have Shockah's 'More IDs' mod, you can set IDs up to 255. (By default these can only go to 127.) These IDs must be unique for every mod you have. If you get a black screen, it's probably because IDs are conflicting. Check your error report to identify which IDs conflict.
6. Replace these files in your minecraft.jar if you made any changes.
All mods contain a 'settings.txt' in 'CosmicMods' folders. To change Block IDs for conflicts with other mods, simply change the numbers to ones that are not used. Then replace it in your minecraft.jar.
If you want Block IDs above 127 you have to install Shockah's 'More Block IDs' mod.
You can get that here: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=83028
^^^^^ It is your own fault if you don't read this. I will no longer respond to posts relating to this information. ^^^^^
WARNING!!!!!
If you create a new world or use an existing world with this mod installed, that world will no longer work if you change the Block IDs or remove this mod! BACKUP ALL SAVES BEFORE INSTALLING!!!
This is a standard for ALL MODS, not just mine. Always back up your saves!
Finally, I want everyone to know I do NOT do this for money.
I definitely don't want anyone to feel they should donate, and I do NOT expect it.
But if you do feel generous and want to give a gift to me and my family, then you can use this link.

ToDo List:
1. Possibly THIS: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=115307 ...Because it is an awesome idea. (Update: Nandonalt has released his own version of Biome Water...)
2. Modding Tutorials (Sorry, I don't know when I'll get these done. I don't have that much time these days.)
3. Surprises for everyone! :biggrin.gif: *BOOM!* *ZZZZAP!* WWWWWEEEEEEEE!!!
4. And Glow Worms, cause they are awesome cool and junk and they would fit perfectly into the game: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=132752
By the way, for anyone creating their own Mods... Currently, Miner's Paradise Pack includes a "SettingsManager.class" that allows you to manage Block Ids!
Example Code:
int oreSilverId, oreCopperId;
SettingsManager settingsManager = new SettingsManager("/minerpack/settings.txt");
oreSilverId = settingsManager.getValueFromName("oreSilver");
oreCopperId = settingsManager.getValueFromName("oreCopper");
oreSilver = (new BlockOre(oreSilverId, SpriteIndex1));
oreCopper = (new BlockOre(oreCopperId, SpriteIndex2));
The text file (tab delimited):
oreSilver [TAB] 100
oreCopper [TAB] 101
Feel free to use the SettingsManager for your own mods!
I just don't get what this mod can do. I see new blocks and something about quartz caves that sounds intriguing. But, really, you are lacking serious documentation. What are the recipes? What do they do? World generation? What's that?
I just don't get what this mod can do. I see new blocks and something about quartz caves that sounds intriguing. But, really, you are lacking serious documentation. What are the recipes? What do they do? World generation? What's that?
Right now, it mostly just adds the new Ore to your world. It will generate normally within the world, like the ore in the standard game.
Quartz will randomly generate in Caves (It's pretty cool, I think). And works awesome as Windows (it looks a little like glass) which you can break and get it back if you want to move it elsewhere.
Copper is more common than iron. Silver is slightly rarer.
Mythite is a rare substance found in the mountains. Unobtainium is rarer and is found on very low depths.
Infinium is a very rare substance only found on the very lowest depths of the world.
All Ore (except Gems) can be turned into Ingots and Ingots into Blocks. These blocks are very colorful and you can use them to decorate. Mythite and Infinium blocks give off light.
As well, Copper, Iron, Silver, (and I think gold?) can be used to make 'Metal Bar'. (Same recipe as Sticks, except with Metals instead.)The rarer the metal, the more metal bars you can make.
Metal Bars can currently only be used to make cheaper, more efficient railroad tracks. (Same recipe as railroad tracks, except replace ingots with Metal Bars).
There may be another recipe or two in there that I forgot about...
The mod also darkens the 'Block of Iron', as it was almost pure white before... and uses that texture for Silver Blocks instead. So don't be surprised if 'Iron Blocks' turn gray. :wink.gif:
On full release of my mod, you'll be able to craft displayable Gems & Gem Blocks.
All metals will create new Tools, Infinium tools will be the end-all tool, and will have infinite durability and break all their block types instantly. (And they look shockingly amazing!)
As well, there will be many other additions, recipes, and amazing things added!
But again, this is PRE-RELEASE, so right now there are no Gems and recipes for the Tools don't work. You can also break the new ores with any tool. This will all be fixed soon!
This pre-release is a beta test version, 0.8b. After these additions, it will go to test version 0.9b and 1.0 (full release).
As well, I plan to have modding tools for other modders, such as the SettingsManager. :smile.gif:
AND Tutorials for modding with ModLoader!
As well, this is mod-friendly, and should work with pretty much any mod, as long as you don't have the Block IDs conflict. :smile.gif:
By the way, one main concern I have taken into account is: Balance.
This mod is intended to have fully balanced gameplay when complete.
It might not sound balanced with 'infinite durability' tools, but the ore is VERY rare, and it will be very difficult to find it. At most, every chunk will have ONE vein of at most 3 infinium Ore, on the lowest depths of the game.
You will not find these easily without cheating! Only the most 'hardcore' miners will be lucky enough to find enough of this Ore!
AND on full-release, you will need the previous set of tools just to mine the next one. You surely won't get Infinium without Unobtainium tools, and to get those you'll need to mine the mountains for Mythite!
As well, the fun doesn't just stop there!
These new minerals will all have their own uses... From 'Pretty Blocks' to useful new recipes, creations, and features.
AND ADVENTURE! The new minerals and items will add a new 'atmosphere' to the game. Explore mountains for the ever-eluding Mythite! Squeeze through new caves filled with Quartz structures and other new Gemstones and Minerals!
Explore the cavernous depths of the World to discover the rarest minerals on Earth, and obtain infinite power!
This WILL be a Full-Fledged mod of the original game, to add new features, depth, and gameplay. It doesn't just stop at new minerals and tools. :smile.gif:
This mod sounds really cool! I'll happily download once it's complete. I'll stay subscribed!
Thanks for the support! :smile.gif:
I hope to have a full release done by the end of the week.
Adding tools should be no problem and only need code, and the gems only lack textures.
The hard parts of this mod are FINALLY done, that is why I've released a test version already! :biggrin.gif:
After release, I'll add more recipes, features, and etc. Those things won't take long.
I hope everyone enjoys this when it's done!
BTW, I forgot earlier, but Bronze recipe is 1 Copper Ingot + 1 Iron Ingot. :smile.gif:
Does anyone have any comments/suggestions?
I currently haven't thought of how to use all the new minerals yet... so feel free to post some comments and suggestions! :wink.gif:
DOWNLOADING! Also, no offense, but those textures... i mean they arent bad Good, Maybe I will make you new textures. Just PM me, ill redo any texture
I like those textures... I spent a lot of time on them... *cries* :tongue.gif:
Nah, it's okay. I tried to have them fit with the standard minecraft textures, though. It's hard to do something "different" when you can only have 16x16 pixels.
The Mythite/Unobtainium looks a little odd, but you can see where I was going with it when you see the pure (9 ingot=) Blocks.
Everything else, personally I think looks beautiful compared to vanilla Minecraft. Check out the minerpack folder. I even have spare textures in there. The Gem Ore is especially pretty, and very distinguishable from Redstone and Lapis Lazuli.
But, I might update them someday if I get some spare time...
And, If you'd like to you can upload your own textures here, feel free to use mine as base. Then people can choose what textures they want.
I actually even have a few spare textures in the image folder... they can be swapped out independently just by renaming them. But I think the uglier ore does not have any spares. Sorry about that. Thanks for the comments/suggestions though! I appreciate it! :smile.gif:
And if you're calling my Copper Ore 'ugly'... I intended it to look like it does! :tongue.gif:
Copper becomes greenish (like the Statue of Liberty) when Oxidized. :smile.gif:
Thank you for the awesome Pic! I will put it in OP right now! :smile.gif:
Also, I took your advice a little bit and made Mythite Ore a little more consistent (and pretty, maybe?) with it's ingot, block, and tools. :smile.gif:
You bought with the "more atmosphere" post im going to find everything, EVERYTHING right now, bye
Edit: Make more use of sulfur with maybe copper? Like a stick a dynamite or such?
Edit: Make more use of sulfur with maybe copper? Like a stick a dynamite or such?
I was thinking of using sulfur somehow. I think you've given me a good idea, thank you! :smile.gif:
Also, I'm glad you guys like it. I've put a ton of work into it!
Anyways, big update should be coming in the next couple of days! :biggrin.gif:
Thanks to ToolUtils, and some help from Shockah and just_dont_do_it, I don't need to write my own Tool loader classes for my custom tools. Which will save me a lot of time. :smile.gif:
Although, that means ToolUtils will be required in the next version... Oh well!
Cosmic Mods have not been updated in quite a while.
