I'm working on updating this to 1.8.9 (for my use but if you guys want I'll try to upload it), but I'm busy with school and other things. Ontop of that manually deobfuscating is the most tedious thing I've ever done so it may be awhile before it's complete, and I don't even know if it'll work at all. I also have to fix 781 errors before I can even test if it works.
Sounds good, keep us posted. Your schoolwork can wait for later, careers are overrated anyway.

This doesn't seem to be working for me. I have forge, downloaded to forge version, and dragged it into Mods. (does the capitalized M mean anything? I doubt it...)

i think it has to be mods or itll create a new one or not read from Mods and if this is what made everyone think the owner abandoned this... um... wut....

Everyone has O.C.D. and A.D.H.D. and Autism and so on its just a matter of how much that makes people say you have it...
I have all 3 where people will say i have them... people hate on me for it...
Heres more accurate explanations of each:
O.C.D. makes you hate not symmetrical things if you have alot and youll tend to repeat things in a specific pattern and hate slight change...
A.D.H.D. makes you be extremely into one specific thing while also connecting things like a cat to radiation...
Autism is literally a label that people use as insults to people who are really good at math and science related things and love those things...
There was a big to do previously between TMI and NEI so I hope this mod was truly abandoned before you released an update and decided to take over the mod.
That is up to your conscience since you are dealing with someone's intellectual property but I would suggest that you place the updates here instead of another page. I imagine you are using decompiled code to obtain TMI's source so it does belong to Marglyph in my mind which poses the question that if something has occurred to draw his attention away are you willing to surrender your work to him? It isn't uncommon to skip sub versions and only update major releases like 1.6/1.6.4, 1.7.2/1.7.10, & 1.8/?. Until we are well into 1.9 we will be unable to determine if Marglyph has abandoned his work and even then his blessing would be required.
i think thats nearly what i was trying to say... and nobody listened... i suck at wording but pls use my v year v month v week and v days things pls? i mightve been saying this on another thing too so half here half there... lol?

TMI was released in January 2011, and was regularly updated at nearly EVERY SINGLE incremental release at the x.x.x level (1.2.1, 1.2.2, etc.) until it was dropped in March 2015. Go see the first post in this thread for the full revision history, it's right there on the page.
Check Marglyph's profile, and you see he has not been logged in since March 2015, almost a year ago. Those of us trying to reach him outside of the forums have also been completely frustrated, as he appears to have disappeared from the web entirely.
If the author does not respond to requests to take over the mod, especially for a period of a year, and the mod previously had a four year run of consistent, incremental updates (Jan 2011 - Mar 2015) then it is reasonable to assume it's been abandoned.
If any of you who are insisting it's not dead are able to contact Marglyph, and succeed where others of us have failed, then please do so. You can then prove us wrong and gloat. Until then, for those of us who like the mod and have incorporated it into our gameplay (and even donated), it's equally reasonable to support someone else taking it over.

All I can tell you is , unknown to the majority of people that come to the forum , there is a private DEV chat , that most of the major coders belong to . Marglyph as well . Just because he has not logged in , does not mean he hasn't looked in . Last I heard he was going away for a while . He wasn't to happy with people telling him how to Code his own program . You want to help , thats probably OK , as long as it's not monetized ( make money from it ) . If you do , ??????????
To be honest it really doesn't matter if he abandoned the mod; it is still HIS intellectual property. This means it is up to HIM if HE turns it over or lets it die. Now if you want to rewrite the mod from scratch and not use HIS source or structure feel free. At least this would be a "fuzzy" area since it is based off what he envisioned. I want to point out that I would love to see the mod continued but that still doesn't make it right.

You're trying to invoke copyright and trademark law into amateur mod development. There is a tangle of legal issues in play if anyone really wants to get into it.
First, there is very little legal precedent for devs who abandon their mods to then sue after someone takes it over in good faith, especially if they promise to abandon their project should he return (as wotblitz has). Further complicating that argument is the fact that so many people have attempted to approach him, and others have just ripped him off, and he has not enforced his trademark during the past year. Failure to enforce a trademark makes it difficult to do so later, as the courts view that as "selective enforcement" and it generally puts the plaintiff in a more difficult position.
There's also the problem that technically Marglyph can't copyright the mod at all, since (by his own admission) it contains portions of Mojang code. He'd have to make a "fair use" argument for using Mojang code, but it would fail since he's not distributing it for educational or reporting purposes.
Finally, he would have had to submit the actual lines of code for trademark or copyright to obtain full enforcement anyway, and it's a near ZERO chance he did that. He'd also have to resubmit it each time it was updated.
Yes, a better solution is for someone to make a new mod from scratch. But failing that, I will support someone to take this one over, until Marglyph comes back.
By your reasoning there is absolutely no reason for mod authors to make mods for public use since nobody really cares or appreciates their work enough to be thankful enough to not steal their work. If it is so easy why don't you create a new mod to your design and give it away for free rather than encourage others to steal someone's work; and that is exactly what it is. A persons code is identifiable just like a fingerprint of sorts and should be treated as such; an extension of them. No wonder why so many mod authors walk away with such disrespect for their donated works. All I can say is that if your conscience is clean with it do as you will but it in my opinion wrong. If nothing else it is against forum sectional rules to my knowledge.
Section Rules
Do not link to websites that require users to enter private information, such as their cellphone number
Do not ask, demand or pressure creators to update content, this includes asking if/when there will be an update, and applies well for downgrades
SMP "hack" and "cheat" mods or tools are allowed unless they are designed for griefing
Video-only threads are not allowed in Mapping and Modding Tutorials
Altering existing content and distribution of it is not allowed unless permission is given by the original content creator. This includes Mojang assets, mods, and resource packs.
Threads that provide a download must provide a preview (either screenshots, videos, or any other appropriate method) for the content. I.E. mods need either screenshots or videos, resource packs need screenshots
Monetary links may only be used for file downloads
Altering existing content and distribution of it is not allowed unless permission is given by the original content creator. This includes Mojang assets, mods, and resource packs
I get that you are trying to make an honorable stand for what you feel is creator's rights, but you are woefully uninformed about the law in this case, and are ignoring a decade of precedence set by Mojang itself. It would appear you would be satisfied if Mojang took a position more like Rockstar Games, which prohibits mods entirely, and actively works to break ALL mods with every update of their software. Or perhaps you would prefer the Disney model, where they sue anyone who posts even a sketch of Mickey Mouse online without permission.
The working answer lies somewhere in between, and Mojang is managing it to the best levels of satisfaction for its IP as well as its customers.
I also see you support stopmodreposts.org. I think that's great, but they have a better understanding -- to a limited extent, anyway, since their "legal
advice is likely to get more people sued than it will help their cause -- of what is going on. The outright theft of an entire mod for purposes of sale is less of a gray area than taking over a mod from a developer who has abandoned it and stop enforcing his rights. These are entirely different situations.
FYI, it is not the responsibility of anyone asking for a mod update to "go update it yourself" anymore than it is your responsibility to create an entirely new Mincecraft forum because you don't like what people are posting here. We are allowed to have comments as users without becoming developers. If you find posts that are in violation, report them. But remember, by your logic, the mod itself, and its dev, have been in violation since at least 2011, and it seems you haven't created a fuss until now.
I think it's great you have a cause and are passionate about it, but if you are going to be strident in your posts, you really need to be informed of the law and speak with some level of understanding of the issues.
