Using real life knowledge, diamond is the strongest thing known by man, and it should keep being the best tool to destroy obsidian.
Obsidian is hard to break in the game.
So using common sense, Obsidian should be weaker than diamond (maybe like steel) but it should last longer than anything (twice as diamond sounds good for me).
Dont know if this would be a coding nightmare, but would it be possible for the shovel to dig out two blocks instead of one?
Like, when digging sand, you get 2 sand blocks or dirt blocks or double the clay balls? (Im in it for the double clay, really)
Though I know it can be exploited, but then again, who are they hurting.
I believe in shokah's minerals! mod his obsidian / darkwood shovel does that... but I'm pretty sure that requires editing some of the minecraft classes instead of just added new classes like my mod
*cough* There is a config file for durability *cough*
Also, diamond is NOT the strongest anymore. I forget what it's called, but a material recently discovered is 58% stronger than diamond.
lonsdaleite I think
Lonsdaleite is simulated to be 58% harder than diamond on the <100> face and to resist indentation pressures of 152 GPa, whereas diamond would break at 97 GPa.[11] This is still below IIa diamond's <111> tip hardness of 162 GPa.

It will make the game more realistic.
I was thinking that hardness would effect durability more myself - since obsidian was usually used for weapons I figured it would make sense increasing the sharpness of swords / upgrading axes and other tools, as for obsidian breaking redstone and obsidian blocks faster.. well I don't have any excuses for that to make any sense, other than I just hated waiting so long for breaking either of them. To be fair, the redstone pick does break everything else slightly slower than diamond.
RE can you make a mod which is like a code pad or finger print pad to open doors or chests and mobs that try and get in that drop swords and tools craft like this
ive downloaded and installed the hangglider mod and had an idea... instead of it rendering and actually making it look like a hangglider why dont you thin the model slightly and make it a magic carpet... that way ur already nearly done

Very, very nice. These mods seem very stable, and more importantly they're fun and useful. Especially the hang-glider Keep up the good work!

craft one, right click to place it above a block- and it will hover up in the air for a moment, I suggest pushing it forward so it has some momentum and then right clicking it to get into it- then you just control with WASD and looking- the more momentum you have, the slower you fall, so if you get right into when it is first placed without pushing it you will lose a bit of height / possibly fall down onto the ground you placed it on and have to inch off the cliff as it doesn't move very well when it's touching the ground.
I havent gotten a chance to look at your code nor do I intend to because it is obfuscated but I am assuming you extended the EntityBoat class so depending on how you allowed it to fly in the air you missed disabling the ability for boats to be in water so try looking at the EntityBoat and look for something like this from the old code not sure how it changed in the recent update

it's actually just a copy of the entity boat class, which extends the nl class (which I believe is just the entity base class?) I've been experimenting with editing the code and trying to figure out what the material.water is.. although that code you pasted does might help me figure that out comparing it to all the obfuscated code.
I love your Bonesidian mod. :biggrin.gif: But while reading it, while noticing that everything was super awesome, the shovel didn't have anything special about it... what if when you shovel sand you get Sandstone? And if you shovel gravel you get an increased (or 100%...?) drop of gravel?
For dirt I can't think of anything :tongue.gif: Until they make a Dirtstone (LOL!)

thanks for pointing that out, I seemed to have forgotten to write that back in with the new descriptions!

PLEASE!!!
TNT detonator? Doesn't just hitting it or trigging it with redstone do that?
Ignore this troll

Thanks!
Do i dive off a cliff with it?
Now I must carefully dig out some obsidian to make some swords, and we'll be good.

Seriously, all he needs to add is brown lines.

this could be wrong so sorry I couldent help more
