What is the whole "Compatible with ModLoader v5" when modloader is currently at v1.4.01?
It's version 5 of ModLoader not Minecraft.
Where is this "version 5" of modloader? Because on Risugami's thread, for modloader, modloader is currently at 1.4.01 (to match the minecraft updates).

There pretty much is. Minecraft runs fine on a CPU thats better than a low end pentium 4 from like.. 2002. If you're having problems, you need to fix something, not get a better cpu.
I doubt minecraft could run on a 2002 era Pentium 4, though I do think johadalin's problem is his gpu/the horrible opengl code in minecraft. I would need to know the exact model of the CPU to tell but he should be able to get around 40-50 on normal, fast, and the original lighting in SSP at least.
HA wrong..

Cool story bro. Please make a thread somebody cares about next time.
Eh, I was off a few years in my memory of when the Pentium 4 came out and they can run minecraft. What frame rates do you get with settings and what graphics card do you have.

:tongue.gif:, a 9500gt 1gb version, and i get around 60fps on fast, normal.

Um ... as the last few pages of the thread have been discussing, I've updated it for 1.4_01.

That's nothing. I got it to work on a XP with a 2.60 GHz Pentium 4 with 512 Mb of RAM.

That's nothing. A friend of mine got it to work on XP on a 990Mhz Pentium III and a Radeon 9000. I tell you the truth.

Thank you for this fix! My FPS was dismal before applying Optimine, we're talking 20 FPS on a new $290 video card, but with Optimine I am averaging about 90 during normal play.
So, after testing on my favorite server with Optimine installed:
At spawn, coordinates both less than 100: not so much lag
At my base, more than 6000 blocks from spawn: MUCH LAG
Whether it's the OP or someone else who takes this over, it's an issue worth noting. I can't be the only one who likes to build in the middle of nowhere. :tongue.gif:
That's ... odd. Did you experience the same behavior with vanilla 1.4 or Optimine 1.3?
I have this suspicion that I missed a variable change that affects how chunk tessellation is prioritized. I don't think that would produce lag though - just tessellating chunks in the wrong order.
I recall it in Optimine 1.3, which is why I stopped using it. In vanilla 1.4, the lag's pretty constant no matter where I am on the map, distance-wise.

Optimine may enhance this issue, but as stated by notch has stated that the further you go on the map the more strange behavior you will notice.

That's only for amazingly far-off distances (read: literally walking for days on end).

Take a look at the post above yours. If you're already using that, better post in that thread.
