I really hope you're referring to something that is unrelated to the installation of this mod. Straight from the front page:
scratch all that, i got it to work. the ones included are outdated, i just turned down the bloom and gamma settings in yours and it looks crazy.
I found the cause of this problem. Shaders are not compatible with the Rusigami mod loader.
Hey.
You guys.
Yeah.
Quick question.
So I have 3 mods running. None of them are very fancy. All I have on is depth-of-field with 2x anti-aliasing, wildgrass, and MCPATCHER so the custom water, lava, and biome foliage I did can work.
I'm sure almost all of you are familiar with those mods. In fact I bet almost all of you are using them right now.
Now I have had alot alot of trouble with this game crashing. THE BLACK SCREEN. My PC is pretty damn powerful. I can run Dead Space 2 and Metro2033 on max settings DX10/11. They run fine. No problems. This thing was built for videogames.
Why does my minecraft crash? Now I know what you are going to say. You are going to say that my java memory thing is too small and I should watch that youtube at the first post that explains how to fatten it up.
I have done that.
In fact, after the original fix listed in that video of increasing the memory max to 2048 didnt solve the crashing, I went ahead and increased the memory limit even more. Currently it stands as thus:
small note: i know nothing about java or heap sizes so if I ****ed that up please let me know how to fix the code
I can play Minecraft on SMP for usually a couple of hours. I have to keep the render distance set to normal or else it crashes alot. Obviously wildgrass does not work there. However on SMP I can even have the AA as high as 16x and it runs fine. In single player beta, whether I am on Normal or Far or even Short, I can't play for more than a few minutes before the game BLACKSCREENS on me.
How do I fix this? Is minecraft really just that unstable right now? And if it can't be fixed, will getting rid of GLSL shaders fix it? Because I'm really tired of this restarting crashing ********. I already died twice due to respawning in solid rock thanks to it and lost 7 diamonds.
My PC should be able to do but right now I can barely get it to even do Which is rather pathetic considering all the other games it can run.
Please don't answer if you don't know how to fix it.
And before anyone asks:
- there is no crash report the game just blackscreens and stops working
- my graphics card is an NVidia GeForce GTX 260
- my favorite color is greyish red
- the texture pack I use is 16x16
- i use wildgrass but NOT waving grass because I honestly cant figure out how to implement it anymore
Someone.
Anyone.
How do I remedy this infuriating thing? I really dont want a game with 16bit cubes to run worse than a game with millions of polys and tons of parallax mapping like most things these days.
*Edit
I seem to have the same problem as zekeyspaceylizard
Ah, I think I know your problem!
At least, with the Wild Grass part.
The trick is, you have to install Wild Grass FIRST. After that you can install the patchers LAST.
I usually do GLSL after MCPatcher. This is because GLSL and MCPatcher patch the renderer, which Wild Grass needs to have a certain way to do anything other than just die. I use many mods and found that if I use the patchers last I can play without any black screens.
I'm not sure of what could be wrong. You get a black screen after a certain amount of play time?
I can only come to the conclusion that it's either installed wrong or you have a hardware or software conflict that cannot be fixed by changing code in the mod. Sorry.
yes. i'm trying to do the sin wave from the video, i can't figure it out.
anyway here's working (tested 100%) shaders for world curvature (it also has DoF and waving plant life)

and a mirror at:

Nope. I always do wildgrass first because I read the wiki and knew beforehand that it can be buggy if installed afterwards.
Anyone have any other ideas?
Do you have Modloader v5( viewtopic.php?f=1032&t=80246 ) and did you delete the META-INF folder in minecraft.jar ?
Try to look into these. Most common mistakes done by new mod users.
"new mod user" oh eat me.
I'm using the version of Wildgrass that doesn't require modloader. Modloader has never worked for me. I follow the instructions exactly. I even looked up youtube tutorials just to be sure I was doing it correctly and the damn thing has never ever worked for me.
Actually if anything modloader only makes my game unplayable. It blackscreens the very minute I log in. And each time I bring this up I always get the same responses "did u delete da metainf folder???" "are u usin a clean jar file?!?!" "u must be doin it wrong lOL!!!11" and other **** that insinuates I'm a moron. I'm so god damn tired of it. I have followed the instructions for doing things to a T and I reap no benefits. Just frustration.
It's why my only mods are GLSL and wildgrass because they both worked fine on their own without the need of modloader. Or at least they did until the latest update. Now I can't play the game for more than 5 minutes at a time without it blackscreening on me.
Believe me I wish it would work. I even had a modder try to help me slowly troubleshoot the problem. I WANT waving grass. I WANT airships and new monsters. But I'm not allowed to have them because this **** doesn't work. However, it's completely unrelated to the problems I'm having right now because the two mods in particular I am discussing DO NOT NEED modloader. Or at least they supposedly don't according the authors and their readme.txt files.
Could someone who actually knows how computers and java works actually attempt to answer this? Even a half-assed attempt would be fine at this point. Sometimes half-ass is just enough ass.
Oh eat me.
Welcome to the joys of playing Minecraft on a nVidia card.
As far as a solution, you've got the first part of it done, with changing the Java memory allocations and such. However, through my own testing, I've found the settings to be pretty iffy in terms of what actually works and not. I've put my own settings anywhere from really tiny to really huge, and the only one I've found to actually work is
Yeah, I know, it's odd that Minecraft (at least for me) never blackscreens with that amount, but it's the only setting I've found that actually stops blackscreens from happening.
Will it work for your problem? I'm not sure. But it worked for me. So there's likely no harm in giving it a shot.
I would like to thank you for being the first person to actually address my question with an actual answer. Everyone in this awful forum either just repeats things they heard others say or just ignore the questions people ask in attempts to flame them.
I'm going to try out your solution. It might work. It might not. But at the very least I can thank you for at least giving forth some sort of effort and idea for solving my problem.
I'm going to edit these java values in now and see what happens. :smile.gif: Not holding my breath but maybe some good luck can finally occur here.
I've done this many times now. In about two or three different threads.
I've been very descriptive. At this point I might as well record a video of me trying to get this to work and put it on youtube as apparently the written word, much like human speech and pogs, is dying out. Soon we'll all be reduced to hand gestures and grunts of spit. And even when it comes to that I still won't be able to play this game with mods. :C
Your holier-than-thou speech was entirely uncalled for other than to try to make you look calm and me look stupid. I don't need help there. Thanks for actually addressing my troubles though! You seem to actually know what you are doing so maybe you can find the needle in the vast haystack that is my cluster**** of voxels.
Game runs fine on default everything. Always has. Rarely dips below 80+ frames per second. Hasn't ever had a problem. Only "glitch" I've ever run into is the occasional SMP server where the world loads too slowly and I fall out the bottom of the map. That seems to happen to alot of people though simply due to lag.
Runs fine for about 5-10 minutes. Sometimes less if alot of stuff is happening at once such as
- caving underground
- being in the ocean
- fighting lots of mobs
- feeling relaxed and enjoying the game for once (it loves to crash at this point)
If I literally hold still like a tree the game can be on for hours and run and never crash. Which is what originally lead me to believe it was a problem with the memory.
It does not matter what distance I have rendering set at. Same result. Fancy or Fast graphics. Same results.
Yes. I have done all this about 8 times in the last 2 days. Neither 32 bit or 64 bit seem to be any different. Both crash. Although 64 seems to crash just a bit more often than 32.
Windows7 64-bit user.
I have never had a problem with anything. And I can happily say I'm paranoid enough to where I've never gotten a virus, trojan, or even an std in this thing. This pc never overheats, never crashes, never has problems. The only software I've had trouble running is this game. Which is rather saddening as it is one of my favorite pieces of software. Ah, cruel irony.
Oh ho! Now this is something interesting. However I am....slightly confused (what a shock!)
For starters I honestly dont remember Java's default memory allocation things.
Also should I literally paste that EXACT code, formats and all, into the text file?
Also you totally lost me here. What? Like I know how to save as and everything but how do I execute minecraft from that? I am only very vaguely aware of what a .bat file is.
Better than sitting back and being ignored like all the other confused people who come into these threads and never get their questions answered! Then they give up and leave. Looking around this forum it seems being obnoxious is the only way to get people to give a crap. And hey it works! You and that other chap came along and actually had some good ideas! Speaking of....
This sadly didn't work, my good man.
However it did let the game run slightly longer than usual. I think it ran for about 15 minutes before it froze.
One INTERESTING note is that this time when it froze, it didn't blackscreen on me. I was punching some plants in the face and it literally just stopped. Frozen in time. Like a fly in an icecube.
What do you mean by outdated?

one really, really annoying thing.
Black lines are EVERYWHERE.
what do I do?
do I need to provide more information?
Looking down my runway. Notice the horizon curving and slipping away. This proves Minecraftia is round!!
Watching the sunset. Again on my runway.
Sunset, LSO view.
It's blurry...as if i'm really swimming.
First focus test.
If it's so easy, do it yourself. If you are in here asking a question, by definition the mod makers did something worth mentioning. You can't come in here and belittle what they have done then ask for help with it. also, umad?
