I know it works on SMP and MAC works the same with mods as PC.
Yeah, forge updated some code. I'll try fixing it in the next few days.
The hearts will be permanent no matter what current potion effect there is.
There is no such thing as only 20 available slots. The mod reads what ever you put on that line as a "String" and recognizes differing levels by the commas between them. Technically you can extend the line as far as you want and my mod will still be able to read it (but it will never be reached because of my heart cap)
Player's are kicked because I believe their heart levels do not follow the server's mod. Maybe it's a forge functionality because I never coded a restriction in like that. So if you add slots in between, it might mess up things. The issue is that since it's a universal mod, I have not put server-specific code that would update all player's health when the server setting changes. I will try thinking of a fix for this, no guarantee though.
I plan on keeping the cap at 30, although I will be updating my gui based on how minecraft does it in 1.6- if you know about it, there is a potion that adds two extra hearts for a certain time period, and you could I guess glitch it too keep expanding the heart display. I will adopt the same method as it's just better, it allows flexibility with any other mods that add on the the player's max health, even if temporary. So yes, if you use that potion, you can get up to 32 hearts (temporarily).

Hmm, can you delete the config and start up your game again so it will regenerate? Can you confirm the default config is working? After that, once again shut down minecraft and edit your level ramp and then restart and check if it's working. There might be an issue with my update code (someone above said something that kind of sounds like the same problem) causing updates to level ramp to not work. I'll have to look into it then for the coming update.
New HUD Options:
1) Disable More Health's custom HUD in case you are using another mod that has it's own heart HUD.
Look in the config file for the option "custom HUD" and disable it! (Set it to false). Be sure to run minecraft at least once with the update so the new options generate.
2) Minimal HUD added: When you have more hearts that the 10, the number next to the hearts will increase, signifying you are on the next "row" of hearts. 1= first row, hearts 1-10. 2= second row, hearts 11-20. 3= third row, hearts 21-30.

I have 14 hearts in total. The "2" signifies I am on the second row.
3) Updated to latest recommended forge, so it should fix any forge bugs.
4) Easier Installation!
1. Install Forge API.
2. Drop the zipped file into the mods folder. (%appdata%\.minecraft\mods)
3. Run minecraft, enjoy!

Sometimes I get the same issue, even with things like InstantHealth I can't recover thats last hearts. I think it happens when the health is increased when there is some lag. My way to fix it, unfortunatelly is dying and re-obtain the required XP Levels again... =(

Hmm, have you guys downloaded the latest version? I did push an update out that I thought fixed this bug.
Are you using any other HUD mods or mods that affect the HUD? That could be an issue. Did you change anything in the config? The (#) is a custom setting, not default. Default the mod will try to make 3 heart rows. If you have another HUD mod it might cause issues with my mod.
I also discovered that, but if you use Magic Crops Mod, you can make (or take with cheating XD) a empty XP Stone to save the XP levels
1 XP Stone = 30 XP levels

Even so you said you made it compatible with all other HUD mods by adding the Numbers before the heart row to indicate what row your on in case you are using other HUD mods and that feature doesn't work as well. The only HUD modification I have is a thirst mod which adds small water droplets above your hunger legs.
Strange, it works for me on chrome. Just tried it again and it works fine.

Did you set that in the config file? Remember, default that functionality is turned OFF. So you need to turn it on in config file (Set it true) to turn it on.

... Which is why I asked you if you changed the config. Did you? That way I know if there is an issue or not.
I set starting hearts on the server to 3 for the player. When you start, it only dispalys 3 hearts, but you can take damage equal to 10 hearts. The little bump and white outline animation on hearts when you regenerate a little continues even after the 3 hearts have filled up. It works fine on single player, but not on the server end.
This might have to do with the server configuration file. You were not very clear about where to put it. Do you copy just the file into the config folder? or do you copy the config-servers folder into .minecraft? Or do you edit the config folder and leave it in the mod zip, all these ways i have tried and I still get the same bug on the multiplayer server.
Also, when you have over 10 hearts with the simple hud option, the hearts you lose in the 2nd bar of health stay blacked out when you reach your first bar of health, and the number does not go from 2 back to 1. if you had 20 hearts, you would end up never knowing how much life you have
this may also have something to do with tinkers construct adding the ability to craft heart canisters which upgrade your max life as well

Just set both the mod options to false in the nohero's more health mod config file. Tinkers construct already has a system in place to indicate max health up to 30 hearts. from 11 - 20 hearts your hearts will turn orange and from 21-30 hearts your hearts will turn golden.

However there is still a problem on the server version (at least when using tinkers construct) where the 3 heart starting limit is not enforced. I have starting hearts set to 3, and they are still regenerating up to 10. This needs a fix!
