[1.7.10] nohero's mods: More Health Enchanted: Beta for Health Loss Issue 1/2/2016
Poll: Would you be fine with ONLY a forge-required More Health mod?
Ended Nov 17, 2014
Poll: A Preference: More health hardcore mode?
Ended Nov 17, 2014
I've tried a number of things already, my best result is me getting gray screened.
It is a forge mod, all I used was forge to update to 1.4.5. it does use a modloader method (which will crash smp, but will work fine sp) but those are included in forge. Did you forget to drag the morehealth folder in? That is where the textures are stored, and minecraft will probably crash if it doesn't have if. If that's not a problem, could you please get me a crash log so I can find the real problem?
Hmm, there was a magic launcher guide a user posted on this thread earlier, and I added it to the topic post. Maybe check that out? I personally have no experience with magic launcher.
edit: i accidentally messed up my spoilers so I had that guide hidden, now it should be viewable (under more health download and information, at the end of that spoiler
A shame, I'm fighting mobs that can do about 3 hearts damage in diamond armor, too.
Any chance you happen to be working on fixing compatibility issues with this and forge + Magic Launcher? (I'm being a bit of a graphics nut right now, now that I got my new computer, so I got some shaders running, which can't simply be used with Forge alone.)
Directly editing the .jar file shouldn't be a problem, as you can do it with modloader if you wished!
Where you getting this error?
"7. Mods which have status "No mods found" needs to be repackaged to be used. The mod ZIP file usually have a folder "put_in_minecraft_jar" or similar which contains one or more files like "acx.class". The contents of this folder have to be zipped in a separate ZIP file and added as an internal mod. This solution works with almost all problematic mods."
Notice how my mod package is in the above form, with a "add files to minecraft jar" folder
So you need to make a new folder (let's call it X), and in X, open the "add files" folder, drag everything there into the X folder. Then, drag the folder "moreHealth" into that X folder. After this is done, zip up the X folder, and that SHOULD work with magic launcher.
Remember to add it near the bottom, as it "overwrites" forge classes.
"1. The order of the mods is important as some of them are designed to "overwrite" parts of other mods.
"
Hm...
When I start the game, the mod works like normal, but the heart piece/container sprites are replaced by a yellowish square with a couple of black blotches.
Any ideas?
In the moreHealth folder you should have HeartItems.png, ItemHeart.class and 2 other class files, and client and common directories.
Back up until you see the 5 class files and the moreHealth directory. Select all (Ctrl+A), right-click, select Send to -> Compressed (zipped) folder. You should now have a properly repackaged zip file. Rename it and add it to your setup using Magic Zip.
Okay, I just did not understand your situation... Also I forgot to mention, that magic launcher guide you weren't supposed to follow exactly, as it was made for an earlier version, so you shouldn't have used the patch file. Anyways, can you try again using what Chris suggested? If that fails, can you get me an error log so I can pinpoint the error?
Hmm, the two folders shouldnt be merging o.o I camel-cased (moreHealth) the sprites, but just had the other lowercase...
I think you need to create a separate (moreHealth) folder then, spelled that way. I'll send a quick patch completely changing the name of the sprite folder so this won't happen again. In fact, I might just place it in the morehealth (lowercase) folder and have my code link to that location.
Thanks for the guide! And it probably has to be spelled moreHealth (camel case) right? This was an oversight... I will fix it soon.
Welp, woo! It works! Thanks.
Revision 2: consolidated texture folder into the other "morehealth" folder. If the heart item textures are working properly, you don't need this update. Further versions will use this new consolidated method, though.
Also I would like to point out my thread is nearly 2 years old!
Glad it's working!
Chris, I will update the magic launcher guide with yours, with a bit of editing as I fixed the morehealth folder problems. (Credited you as well!)
Most folks are on Windows, and on Windows lowercase and OtherCase directories are combined. And when your code asks for the morehealth directory, Windows finds and returns the moreHealth directory.
This isn't done in a user-unfriendly manner though, the standard rename command lets me change the case of a directory or file, and Windows remembers the case of directories and files, even though differently-cased directories and files can't coexist.
And feel free to use/change that guide
It'd be easier for folks to do if you changed the zip file's structure to have everything in a "add the contents of this directory to minecraft.jar" folder, or better yet have those files directly in the zip, and a readme that says "copy everything here to minecraft.jar". Then us Magic Launcher folks wouldn't have to repackage anything at all. But don't worry about it, I will go to great lengths to have More Health working with my setup. Your mod does something unique and cool that no other mod does.
Forever protecting Hyrule with the power of the Master Sword, DragonMaster16.
Also, MC keeps asking me something every time I load my world that I can't exactly read because it's squished on the bottom of the screen...
Perhaps it has to do with this camelcased thing you mention and windows' inability to properly make use of it.
Hmm, did you realize there IS a config file in the config folder? %appdata%\.minecraft\config
There are all the options you want in there...
Hmm, are you using your normal world (aka you played it before installing this mod) because I don't believe there is a way to add new items (not just my mods items) into the chests that have already been generated in the world-- aka you have to travel to previously never generated areas (ie a new world, or traveling far from home) to start the new items to spawn. If there was a way to add it to unexplored chests, I would have used that instead.

Are you running smp? Currently more health does not work with smp. If that's not the issue, can you give me the full crash log?
Also, revision 2 fixed my problem with the heart pieces/containers looking wierd just great. Also makes using it with Magic Launcher or MultiMC easier.
One thing, though. Are you sure you toned down the appearance of pieces/containers in loot chests? My last 2 dungeons had 6 heart pieces in one chest, and 2 pieces and 3 CONTAINERS in another. (Also, should I assume that containers are supposed to be a lot rarer than the pieces themselves?)
Good to hear!
Yeah I toned it down across the board, dropping rates at nearly all locations, but the way minecraft has chests working is that the items are placed during generation. So changes can't take place until you travel to newly generated areas.
