Is this mod still being actively updated? I've been running it on a server and have run into some bugs. It doesn't seem to have a github or anything though? Anyone know of alternatives? I need something with animals and lots of mounts.

More Creatures is not meant to be used along with other mods. The author also does not seem to be interested in resolving the bugs. The repo of More Creatures is dead and the code is closed source. I recommend you using Animina instead.

I'm gonna take a guess you meant Animania there. It is very different from Mo'Creatures. Mo'Creatures adds a large variety of new animals to Minecraft. Animania overhauls and enhances the vanilla animals. There is no overlap (except with regard to horses — and that's because Mo'Creatures added horses first, before vanilla had them, and the vanilla horse was based on Mo'Creatures horses with Dr.Zhark's permission).
Also, the current official site for Mo'Creatures is very much alive. And I don't know where you're getting this "More Creatures is not meant to be used along with other mods" from. Bluntly, it's complete nonsense.
The latest 1.12 one. When people pick up mobs to put on their heads they can't see it. Other players can see it but the person picking up the mob can't. We also had some problems with the kitty beds. In addition some mobs don't fight back when hit. It's like they're too busy trying to path through some terrain and they won't stop that to attack you.

I found that but I really do want more fantastical creatures and mounts. I feel the itch to help on such a project I need to find one that's open source though.
Hi there people, I don't know if anyone will know the answer to this but I'd like to ask a few questions/make a suggestion.
Bit of a premise: I am currently running my first dedicated minecraft server, it does not currently use this mod, however I have used it before in singleplayer. I love the big cat and wyvern mobs and they are my favourite part of the mod. I have tried using this and lycanites mobs at the same time, with and without cutom spawner and have tried turning off overrides and such. None of this seemed to work no matter how much I tried to edit the configs. I managed to get some spawning here or there for one or both mods, but there was constantly issues with too many/few spawns of certain types. Sometimes mobs would spawn even if they shouldn't. Stuff like that.
The server I have currently only has a few mods, the only one that adds mobs being Ice and Fire. Would it be possible somehow to have this mod as a separate dimension (preferably, like the nether portal) or as a bungeecord server whereby I could transfer players, items and (most importantly)creatures between worlds yet the mobs and creatures only spawn in one. Possibly same idea with lycanites, since the two seem incompatible as of right now (some mobs work, others not at all. Messes up all water spawns). The custom spawner also seems to over spawn mobs and creatures, so I'd prefer if the non mo creatures dimension/server be unaffected.
Edit: Also note that I am currently running 1.12.2 but the old singleplayer was 1.10.2
As it is now, I can't really use this mod on my server, which is a shame because I do think it's a wonderful mod with fantastic models. If somebody has some advice I'd love to hear it.
One thing I miss about 1.7.10, was "Just Another Spawner." You could use that instead of "Custom Mob Spawner" and it'd work just fine. I wish that mod got ported to 1.10.2 (or later).
I dont want to sound like that, i realy dont.. but this Custom mob spawner is the most annoying thing ever.. like ever. And it seems like, it is made to be incompatible with everything on purpose. CMS had this problem 2 years ago, it affects other dimensions without the ability to turn it off for other dimensions. That is an easy task for a experienced modder, infact nearly every mod has these options.
I would not care much, but the thing is: CMS stops spawns completely in most other diemensions.. in some it does not, but it will still not work correctly.
you cant realy use MOC without CMS because the spawns will be messed up entirely. I tried to use it again and hoped it would be fixed with 1.12.2.. but it isn't. The Author doesn't care about compatability and that is the sad truth i had to experience after 2 years of trying to get this mod working with other mods. It's a shame, the mod is great but it limits it's userbase alot with that..
Im also swapping to animania. It adds some new animals as well and actually works like it's supposed to
So I noticed Mo Creatures now comes with a built-in stripped down version of CMS in config>MoCreatures>MoCreatures except... it doesn't work. I tried to disable a mob via it by setting the canSpawn to false and all the other options to 0, but the mobs I disabled still spawn, looks like this

I managed to make it work but it is so difficult to do that most modpack makers just don't use it,the mod is called Just Another Spawner and it is meant to give you total control of the spawn of some mobs and on which biomes they appear.

I'm using this along Animania, Reptiles Mod, Exotic Birds and enabled Vanilla Spawning in CMS. Everyhing spawns just fine and disabled ones don't. apart from Snakes it seems. I don't really know. Maybe I was in a chunk where they already spawned.
One thing though. Horses. I want to keep Vanilla horses. I disabled the HorseMob one in the Config file of this mob. Will this disable spawning of this Mob Vanilla Horse mobs too?
And where do I have to change the frequency of the mobs?? In the Mobs config file or in CMS??
Edit: Okay reenabled that CMS shoudl take of everything and all spawns are fine. Still looking for those vanilla horses.-

vanilla horses are a sep entity. You can tell in the CMS config file's name as they are split up by mod as well as dimension.
there are 3 entries for the horse. Vanilla, MoC, and Evil. horsemob is the evil one.
vanilla horses spawn in a very limited biome list. think its only plains and savanna.

Yeah already found some. Raised the cap a bit for them and all the other mods in CMS. Everything spawns!
just remember that frequency is relative.
