Just did a search for this problem but didn't see a solution. I hope I just missed it. For Elemental Arrows every time I shoot a arrow my hotbar item will change slots. Uninstalling the mod allows me to keep my bow in hand when shooting arrow..

There is no solution. It's a bug that has been noted numerous times already and will be noted numerous times more. Seems to be that Risugami either doesn't care or somehow isn't apprised of the issue.
Speaking of which, what IS the actual stance on that? Has anybody actually contacted Risugami about it or are we just assuming he actually follows the thread?

Hi,
I'm trying to update my Simply Horses mod by Lil'Avii and I messed up re-installing it to the point that i had to just re-install minecraft altogether. I went to download Modloader like i did the first time and when i finished putting it in the files and stuff, I ran minecraft and closed it as it instructs on Lil'Avii's post on how to install, the "Mods" folder did not appear like it did the first time. I tried to download it and fix/find the problem for several hours but i had no luck fixing it. If anyone could help me find the problem and help me fix it, it would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I'm relatively new to mods so please go easy on me
I don't know why but when ever I use MagicLauncher and add Modloader and press test/ok and login it always says it crashes can somone please tell me why?
Thank you. SO MUCH. That was extremely helpful. I will use the magic launcher from now on, as I can now manage all my mods much easier, faster, and better organized. I only wish that Thaumcraft wan't the only mod of mine that was made usable with ForgeModLoader. Actually, that's my other question, people say to use ForgeModLoader, but I can only find Modloader and Forge separately, is there really a "ForgeModLoader", or are they two different tools and people keep calling them the same thing? Also, the external mods manager say that my Zombe's modpack and Mine Little Pony mods have no mods active. It says "no mods found", even though I've activated them and edited setting in the config files of both. What's up with that?
ForgeModLoader (FML) is the new system that the Forge mod API uses to replace Risugami's ModLoader. However, the Forge system still includes (at least when I checked after they dropped Risugami's ModLoader) slightly modified or original files from Risugami's ModLoader with no sign of having permission to use them. So its personal choice and if you can live without one set of mods or another until the Modding API is released with the target of 1.4 in the future. I personally will not support Forge (or mods that use it) because of the way that they took over the entire modding API and (as it appears to me) stole portions of Risugami's ModLoader to use and have Ad.Fly links from their forums to download their mod.
-Edit-
I just checked the most recent version of Forge client, and yes it still includes BaseMod, MLProp, and a slightly modified version of ModLoader.class that they have included for a long time. So Forge has apparently (unless Risugami wants to come in and say he gave them permission to use his code) stolen ModLoader code for their own use (and financial gain, since the download links from minecraftforge.net are ad.fly links).

Do you have a file ModLoader.txt listed in your .minecraft folder? If not, you did not install ModLoader properly, and need to force update Minecraft and reinstall ModLoader.
@Risugami This mod always crashes my game! ModLoader sucks!
That just means you cannot follow instructions on how to properly install ModLoader, or how to post a crash report so that just maybe one of the very helpful regulars will point out your problem so that you can fix it. But based on your attitude, I suggest just deleting Minecraft from your computer and never visiting the forums again since if you can't do something right the first time, you think its fine to troll someone else for your inability to read directions.
On BIospheres I add the biospheres mod files and modloader files inside minecraft.jar and it keeps saying it crashed when its the only 2 mods! Ive once download and added 6 mods at once and it works but this confuses me :/.

FML does not use Risu's code. It was a cleanroom implementation of the ModLoader API (of which, APIs have been ruled in court as non-copyrightable). The class names are the same, but that means nothing.
You are incorrect. It includes no ModLoader code, it only provides its own mod loader which includes class names and some API's the same for compatibility with ModLoader mods. Under the hood it works completely different - which you'd know if you spent more than 5 minutes looking into it and didn't just assume that it used stolen code just because it shares class names.
I just said I checked it and saw that it had code from ModLoader, please don't tell me I'm wrong when I see stuff that matches Risugami's code exactly or nearly exactly.

I was not aware of that, but I still don't think it is considered a straight-out API. It is sitll Risugami's code (which yes there are 3 classes that are taken directly from ModLoader, I know because I've spent enough time as a modder working with them to know they are teh same exact code in 2 and very similar in another). Now that I think about it, it is not an API. An API is an Interface, which only provides method names to use and does not define them. Risugami wrote code in specific methods, makiing them function a certain way. Therefore, using that code is directly stealing from Risugami, and as Risugami wrote it and posted it online, it is automatically covered by copyright laws for so many years from first being posted.
By "exactly" or "nearly exactly" matching, do you mean just the method names? Those have to be that way, so that mods created for ModLoader can continue to work, unmodified.
Is it a few methods that have identical or nearly identical code? That's a more significant similarity, but how long are they? Often, I've seen completely different people come up with the exact same code for short functions, just because it's the most obvious implementations (even as far as variable names, for variables like i, j ,x, y, z, and such, where it's a fairly common short name for that context).
Now, if it's methods containing at least 5 (or so? Just picking an arbitrary number that sounds good) lines, and both of them are implemented exactly the same, I would consider that one or both of them are copying code from somewhere else (either FML from ModLoader, or both of them from some Minecraft code somewhere).

I use Forge but am not a big fan...
I guess the thing I don't understand is why they must keep playing with it. MC 1.2.5 has been out for 93 days. Why is Forge less than one week old?
Dynamic elevators must redo his Mod (1.6 for 1.2.5) to remain usable with Forge... I thought Forge was supposed to stop all this updating!!!
I also expect Risu's ModLoader to be compatible within a day, 2 at the outside, I'll be surprised if Forge is within a week.

This is also in response to the other 2 users that I don't feel like requoting again. I went and dug further into the code and see that Forge does have its own different implementations in the vanilla Minecraft functions as opposed to ModLoader. So the code is included for compatibility, but they still would have to rightfully get permission to include code they didn't write. That means that the coders of Forge (mainly Lexmanos, since he does most of the updates now) are just unprofessional. ModLoader was a well-established mod that nearly every mod used, and Risugami updated it quickly every Minecraft version update, so there was absolutely no reason for Forge to remove ModLoader dependency other than they want to be the SOLE provider of mod hooks.

Forge has taken it upon themselves to fix vanilla bugs in addition to throw in whatever changes to vanilla code need to be made for the developers mods (Eloraam is the biggest to blame for this) to remain base-clean instead of making changes to vanilla code. As they decide they need another change to vanilla code or they identify another "bug", they make a change and do a new Forge release. Forge is taking on too much stuff to function just as the mod hooks it started out as.

I just tried that and the ModLoader.txt is still not in my minecraft folder, and i followed the directions fully. When I drop the Modloader downloaded folder into the WinRAR minecraft.jar, The Modloader folder becomes and zip folder. Is that normal?

As I said, make sure to follow the instructions properly. You need to add the file contents of the downloaded folder, but NOT the folder itself.
Just wondering with the Elemental arrows where when you're in survival and you fire your bow it switches to a different item in your hot-bar after the arrow releases but if you're in creative this does not happen. is it a bug or something annoying?

hehe zealots are funny, if you really want to have a logical discussion our channel is always open, but please do some proper research. WeusenoneofRisugami'scode, APIsare not copyrightable.
Anyways where is your hype over ModLoaderMP, they are EXACTLY what you're bitching about, a direct copy/paste of Risu's code. Yet I see no uproar over them.
FML was created because MLMP was not doing it's job.
It was extended to the client side because Risu was not doing his duty to the community, and refusing to allow for any legal mod packs to be created.
As for how long it takes ML to update related to Froge/FML.
FML already runs on the latest snapshots.
And IIRC the last few updates there have been Forge releases within a day or so.
would i have to reinstall modloader with the other mods i use with each update? does it liek delete its files for the mod and then i have to put the new version on?
You have to manually reinstall everything when there is an update to Minecraft and manually remove old mods if upgrading to new ones. Always make sure you remove mods for older versions of Minecraft. Nothing is handled automatically and old mods do NOT run with newer versions of Minecraft (so don't go thinkin' a 1.2.5 mod will work with a snapshot or the official release of 1.3 whenever MC 1.3 comes out).
