June 13, 2015: The post has been remade! With new titles, information and rules.
June 14, 2015: A progress note full of progress has been published.
August 30, 2015: Minimaps have been added to the thread.
Hello and welcome to the Inert Tales Series, a series of Complete The Monument maps. This thread will be the home of my future (and actual) maps in this series. I'm Carlus (or TheCarlushow), down below you can find the completed and WIP maps of the series. CTM Maps are survival based maps, where your goal is to complete a monument with the objectives that can be found in the diverse areas the map has.
You have to find and complete the Victory Monument. The monument itself varies from map to map, so does its name and objectives.
Do not leave the boundaries of the map; This includes climbing at the top of open sky areas.
Do not craft, pick up or place ender chests, using the ones placed in the map is fine.
Do not create a portal to the Nether, using pre-placed ones is fine.
You may not create the wool required for the monument, nor its other objectives.
The objectives required to complete the monument have to be found in chests inside special boxes (Fleecy Boxes).
You may play in any difficulty, except for peaceful.
Survive in any way you can think of. You can craft, break, and place blocks.
Do not use any mods or 3rd party tools that make the map easier, using them may break certain parts of the map.
You may craft wool for non monument purposes (Like beds, decoration, etc.).
Inert Tales #2: Inert Empire
This is my second full CTM map, where my goal is to clean all the errors and fails I have made in the first map (Inert Islands) that cannot be found in this thread. This map will have a lot of custom mobs and items, as well as some quest areas that will contain loot for the player. The map will have 5 intersections, as I wanted to extend it as much as I could, each intersection will have an obvious teleporter to the previous intersection, and a hidden one to the next intersection. Inert Empire will be centered in its monument, every area of the map has little pieces of lore that makes them more interesting and gives the map more immersion. Expect beautiful, diverse, and hostile areas, but do not expect a lot (or any) of command blocks in this map.

The whole post and its content is subject to change, so expect more than one change every certain amount of time.
You are allowed to make series/speedruns/reviews out of my maps, just be sure to let me know about it.
It's been a while since I posted here, a few hours ago I was writing a DevNote with information about Resurgement Of The Reinforcements but while I was writing it my PC restarted and I lost all I wrote.
Leaving that on other side, I started a little something to spend time and mantain myself entertained. At the moment I have constructed the white wool, the orange wool and the first intersection.
Here is a little sneek-peek of the (unfinished) orange wool; It's called Yellowrock Gorge (subject to change)

Te digo una cosa, en el lugar de esa imagen se mira muy plano lo de hasta arriba, trata de hacer un poco de relieve que como se nota q solo hiciste un cuadrado y de alli todo lo demas
That's intented. I mainly costructed this area to practice my structure making skills, and the best way yo do it is with a plain space.
Right before I posted that picture, I focused on giving the area more texture on the floor, it turned out very well, altough it seems kind of plain, I'm marking it as complete. You can see how the area is actually right here:
I was going to make one of these progress report thingies a long time ago, but like I said, my pc restarted while I was writing it.
I spent like two (2) months without openning Inert Empire because of the lack of inspiration to work on it. Yesterday I started working again, I still have to finish RotR (Resurgement of the Reinforcements) itself and a second part that features a catacomb theme. Although I haven't finished Intersection 3, I wanted to work on Intersection 4 and I finished it after 2 failed attemtps. When I first finished the intersection I was fine with the result, but now there are better ideas coming into my mind that I will test.
Today I wanted to do something, so I started fixing some aesthetics in the early areas of the map (the ones that I made when I was learning about mapmaking). I modified Impala's aesthetics and gameplay, so it's now called "Impala Mines", I also improved Int3's block variation adding some cobblestone and glowstone to make it look better.
Outside of the map, I've been working on the loot system. I had a loot of fun making custom items, even tho I had bad moments with them (I have changed my loot system 4 times, but it is going to stay in its current layout). I also want to give the loot system an educative touch, so every special item will have a book with the description of the item and the definition of its name.
This progress note was quite long and ends here, but before I finish it I'll leave some spoilers from areas, loot structure and possibly other things.
Loot structure:
First Class: The first items given from the map. They are not powerful, but will help advancing in the map.
Second Class: This class is stronger. The items have a moderate strenght, higher than the first class.
Third Class: The most powerful items of the map are in this class. Those items appear in a common way at the Int4 and Int5 areas.
Unique Items: As the name says, this kind of items appear once, never twice. Most of them have possitive attributes for the player.
Forbidden Class: This items have been cursed in some way. They will mostly have negative attributes on the player and strong enchantments.
Special Potion: This class has only custom potions. Some of the potions have a potency classification that varies from 1 to 3, with three being the most powerful potions. The name of the potions also varies; Light gray for potency 1, gold for potency 2, bright red for potency 3.
Note: The examples for every class are in spanish, I will translate them when the map is finished.
And the modified areas:
The modified Impala -> Impala Mines (still in progress)
A few hours ago my inspiration came back, so I assembled the monument with the rest of the map. The monument has replaced "The Slaughterhouse" in Intersection 3, so it will now be placed in Intersection 4, or with another circumstances, is going to be a sub-area of Resurgement Of The Reinforcements. Here's a little resume of what I've done in the last hours:
Changes:
- Replaced "The Slaughterhouse" with the victory monument in Int3. It stills being the gray wool.
- Changed the name of the monument, from "Imperial Palace" to "Alma Imperia"
- "The Slaughterhouse" will be:
- Or placed in Int4.
- Or a sub-area from "RotR"
On another side, I augmented the number of items, there is now 84.
Now talking about the lobby, I still have to make a little space for the teleporter to start the map and make the white wool, whose concept I already have in mind. I added two books, with the titles "Rules, pocket edition", that has the rules of the map with a little description for each one (there are 10 rules); and "Nomenclature", that explains the loot layout of the map and how the items are named.
Intersection 4 is already made, but like I said before, I'm not fine with the result.
There is no much more to say, otherwise than thank you for taking your time to read my thread and for waiting patiently the release of Inert Empire. Take care!
It's been awhile since the last progress report, and this one has a lot of things. Each progress is sorted in chronological order, so enjoy!
Some of you may know that the white wool of Inert Empire has been changed like 4 times, that was because in that time I had a pretty low experience in mapmaking. I decided to make a last try, deleting the area I had and making another one with different thematic and structure, the area turned out with the thematic of a diabolical cathedral with little demons inside of it, tormenting every person who entered there. The name for the area is "Disciples Of The Ram" (Yeah, I took the name from the "Annabelle" movie).
White wool pics:
2. The light gray wool "Resurgement Of The Reinforcements" has been completed aesthetically, after two months of hard work. This has been the area that consumed the most time in the making (alongside the monument). It is the biggest area in the map at the moment. I still have to place it in the actual map.
Light gray wool pics:
3. The fourth intersection "Walls Of Salvation" was finished yesterday, it has a thunder/lightning bolt/storm thematic. I am very happy with the result of the intersection. At first I had another idea for it, I wanted it to be red, with redstone ore making smooth lightning but the ores would'nt stay shinning and the idea had to be scrapped.
Fun fact: The time between when you see a thunder and you hear it, divided by 5 is the distance in miles of the thunder.
Intersection Four's pics:
The texture pack used in the screenshots is the "Veteran's Pack", it includes the old textures of Minecraft.
This progress report ends here, expect one in a few weeks, as my vacations start in this months 24th.
I know this thread has been dead mostly of the time, I apologize for that. The inactive period has officially ended, my inspiration has come to me and I want to get into Inert Empire as soon as I can.
Whenever I'm on a non-working period, I like to go into the earlier areas of the map and make some small changes, I've done this with almost the whole map. Anyways, some of the last changes I have made are in this spoiler below:
Modified the terrain of "Greyskull Canyon" to make it a little bit more troll.
Added A LOT of decoration to "Alma Imperia", as it can be seen on the main thread.
Changed some names in the spanish version of the map.
Some other stuff I do not remember right now.
Now, let's talk about the fourth intersection, I started working on the second area "Igniferous". As the title can tell, this will be a fire area, a couple of weeks ago (or even months, I don't remember) I published a Strawpoll on my Twitter, asking if the area should be in the nether or in the overworld. At the end of the week the votes were closed and the area is going to be in the nether, and yes, that means there is going to be no water. unless you got cauldrons hun
I completed the purple wool's entrance and portal area, I still have to make the actual area, whose concept is very clear in my mind. I have been thinking about the general concept on the area since january of this year.
Anyways, thanks to those who have been looking on this thread every now and then, I promise that you are not going to be dissapointed when the map comes out.
Here are some screenshots, I owed them to you:
The modified Alma Imperia, the center of the map and the place where you are going to spend your final days.

I don't care about the Xs. You can call me Navarog. Or Nava if you really want to be a hipster. It's fine.
Excited about this

Do you have a link to your first full sized CTM map?It might just be me, but I don't see it on this page.
No, I didn't put one because that map is full of mistakes, overpowered mobs, and such. I don't like it, that's why I didn't put a link for download.
The maps are very good. Good job Carlushow
