@Witty's video, I agreed with it up to the point where he mentioned Warframe. SHIFT + CTRL + W + E IS A PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE COMBINATION! >:U Joking aside, I've played a lot of Warframe (75 hours, about as much as I've played of Project Ares) and I never had an issue with the button combinations. Oh... and the video was good too..... >_>
@Rock's video, I agree with all of what you said, and it actually gave me some ideas that I can work into current and future areas of DsD. What you said had a particular weight, seeing as you're a professional game designer.
I think it'd be nifty to see a discussion on small areas vs large areas, maybe even getting into a ctm guide-esque discussion of how to defeat larger areas without being way too intimidated.
A small vs. large area discussion would be interesting. I'm not as keen on the guide portion though, but more so the level design. I'd also be interested in a more in depth discussion about difficulty curve. How this can be achieved in a balanced way that is still fun for the player. It seems like in some maps the beginning is the most challenging purely because of resource scarcity.
@Witty I've been watching a lot of videos by Extra Credits now... I find it very interesting, at the least
Anyway, does anyone have any good block combinations with mycelium? This one's stumping slightly... I've got a general idea for the area, but currently its just all mycelium and dirt and shrooms everywhere XD

I like the combination, but I feel like it'd be a little off for this area:
I mean, just for me it would seem off. Ice and stone slabs for this would probably be more suited for something like Ozone, but I'm kinda far off from that kind of build at this point The clay... maybe. I'll have to play around with the block combo a little more.

I think you would benefit well by choosing a different block for the walls/ celings as mycelium dosent look so great when you are looking at it from the sides or underneath it. THen I think the block combo Eerie suggested would work but only on the ground.
Hey guys, I'm back. I've heard the term "noise" used as an MCedit brush variant that kinda randomizes/lays out blocks in a random fashion. Could somebody tell me how to use this? Is it a downloadable thing like filters or is it some setting that I haven't noticed?
This is a standard feature in MCEdit, you can enter a value into a field called "Chance" anywhere from (1-100). Think %. 100 will replace all the blocks. 50 will replace half etc.

Well guys, I'm scrapping the map I was currently working on. Reason being I feel like I hadn't organized it correctly, or the way I wanted it to, so I'm just going to start over. I've learned a lot, so that should help with remaking the map entirely. I've been really lacking motivation lately to work on it, and so after playing a few maps by others, I feel like I finally have something to work off of (I actually have a theme now, instead of just smacking cool ideas together).

Ohai Renarrix! That would be interesting, I agree.
Oh, and here's a little something I made for my brony buddies!
So, I'm kinda officially announcing the map that I've been working on for a little while. (No, not the urban CTM map. I decided that project was a little more than I could handle.) Anyway... I'm proud to announce my upcoming map, Darkfall!
I've got a few pictures here, and if you want more than pictures, you can head over to my thread and download the Alpha v0.1 version.
The starting cavern (also Intersection 1).
Don't Jump, an I1 area.
Upper Darkfall, another I1 area.
Another pic of Upper Darkfall, showing the path that leads to I2.
Shafted! is an I2 area.
Satisfaction Rest, the monument area. Comes with a premade storage room and enchanting/brewing/anvil area.
EDIT also yes okay I will jump on the Happy Birthday train. TOOT TOOT Happy Birthday! TOOT TOOT ALL ABOARD
