Doing my first snow area can you guys give me some tips? (Perhaps more blocks to fit in than just the white and grey? And yes the ice will be packed when I update) I am also putting structures in there so don't worry about that I'm just looking for something to pop a bit more, a highlight block of some kind.

I think it looks fine at the moment. How did you make the walls of the cavern so rough?, I really like how it looks.

That would be the MCedit Erode tool, you go to brushes and where it says "Fill" you click on that and it brings up a drop-down menu and on that is the Erode brush!

It looks nice so far. If I encounter a snow area, I would expect it to be open-sky so you can have a snowy weather! Be careful with the lightning of the area if you used ice and not packed ice. A mix of both is generally looking good.
I haven't been very active lately regarding my map (besides the cathedral) but I could eventually during these few weeks make some updates and I finally reach the start of the pre-last area of the map Ossidiana (black wool).
Yes you heard me : "pre-last area".
The Misty Shores being the last place you will visit, upon completion of the wool monument, to discover . . .

Part of a Bonus Dungeon, the Hidden Lair - for those who find it! :
And finally - I know I still have to think about the block combination - the back part (garden-cemetery) of the cathedral (in Ossidiana) I've been building lately :
Gotta say, I like the look of the Hidden Lair too. And you know I'll be looking for it, so be ready for that.
Anywho, gotta start streaming at the usual place. Savage Realm is on the agenda-I've been too lax, and need to see what I2 has in store for me. Hope to see you there.

clay works pretty well with snow in my experience, they dont contrast too much but they provide a nice level of variation together. mixing some of that in might look nice.
You may want to erode a little bit more the lower part of the cavern. In the photo there is an obvious round shape, well, most of the cave has them. Otherwise, it looks good, I like the ice-lava combination
I got an idea for the community map Veltz was talking about. I will try to explain it a bit.
The main idea of the map is a big realm/civilization that consits of small provinces. Something like a kingdom leaded by king that consits of regions with noblemen. Every mapmaker (nobleman has his own area (province/region) and all this areas forms a big realm.
The story is that there was an army/bandits, anyone who wanted to ransack and destroy this realm. It happend, the bandits has looted the realm and all that has left is bunch of monsters, ruins (don't have to be too much devastated, it depends on the exact lore) and some poor loot in chests.
The player's task is to set free this areas from the monsters (and maybe repait them if the player wants) and also take/bring a monument block. These are two options. In both of them there is a final area which is a huge well-defended fortress of the bandits.
First option is that the bandits took some magical monument blocks from each area and completed their own mighty monument. The player has to take these blocks and bring them to the right areas (provinces).
This is a little bit strange idea though. So better idea would be take a monument block from each area and complete a monument. The block could symbolize some mighty power of the bandits that charmed the area and the monumet would be a place where you can destroy this block. Like in LOTR, you can't destroy the ring everywhere. The player would be figuring out his task gradually if it's possible.
This is REALLY raw idea and needs lots of details. Tell me if you like it and if it could be the main lore of the upcoming Collaboration CTM map. Feel free to improve it.
This is the kind of post that needs to go alongside the "I want to make a collaboration map" post. Just saying "I wanna make one" and popping in a signup link with no information makes 90% of us ignore it. I have no desire to join a project where the director has absolutely no vision for the finished map.
I am actually thinking that the collab map will have no storyline, but instead, be a jumbled up random area map, similar to Legendary. If the map-makers want to make a story, we could always just do it on Skype or something too.

That doesn't sound very smart. Having absolutely no order will end up making a messy map and nothing more. Heck, the past has shown having open signups is already a bad idea, and having no direction on top of that will result in a trainwreck.

Well, the map-makers participating in it will most likely test to see which areas are harder than the rest, and how we can improve each area. If we didn't at least do that, then I would agree that the map would be unbalanced and messy. I didn't mean "jumbled up" as putting areas in random places either. There should still be testing that takes place.
I don't believe the way it was started and presented is great at all.
But well, besides this I think if you guys want to participate in a project - I know it may not be what you want - there's still quite a few things to finish with > Discordancy <.
On that note, it would be great to set up a new calendar and see when is the best upcoming period to wrap this up !

While I am a part of Veltz's group , we do really need to all know the building theme. Voting on all of it on Skype should work , that way we can get our areas themed around the well , theme and then get a proper storyline. Now , those who have worked on a group project , any tips for this fledging one ?

Plan. Plan hard. Before Veltz even pretended to start this project he should have had an entire theme in mind. The intersections should be structured, the monument idea should be complete, even the most basic lore should be thought up. How many wool are in each fleecy box? How difficult is the map going to be? What is the map's name and how does it fit the map? Why is it named that way? Which wool are people going to get? How are we going to discuss things? Who is going to test areas? Should we start work now, or wait until we have a full team? What is your deadline?
Those are just the basics. If these things aren't planned out and thought of, you're going to have a ridiculously rough time. Take the time to plan it out, in detail, before even considering posting a "hey guys, let's collab" post.
I might sound a bit snippy about this, but if anything, it's because I've seen three collab projects absolutely fall apart due to a lack of such planning. It's insanely hard work to run a collaboration map, and if you're not prepared for that, you're going to hate it.
Hi. It's me. I've been off the air for a bit due to real world stuff. I wasn't intending to be right off the bat making the map with no preparation. I wanted to first see if there were people interested and then discuss how we'd all like to see the map go. I'm sorry if I've come of as ill prepared. I was merely testing the waters to see if there were people interested in such a project.

Looking great! I wonder if the premade base path is a promenade or one might get ambushed XD

I'm also planning a map of.. a map.. welp
Just planning though, nothing serious.
Yet.

Well this area is FINALLY finished! (or at least, this main cavern, there's actually some other bits that still need to be finished ;3; )

I can't get to reproduce the lag anymore in 1.3.2.0. I might be able to fix it, how to reproduce though?
I can't reproduce it either and it never lags for more than 5-10 seconds if I accidentally "brush the sky".
@Rubisk: Is there much difference between Unified 1.3.0.0 for 1.8 (64bits) and the Unified 1.3.2.0 ?
