Once you get to the first intersection of RC2 it slackens the constant mobs and fighting but remains difficult. Little kingdom is one of the really fun areas. Once you get there its easier to get situated and its easier to continue with the map. Also try to get all of the emeralds you can. The loot they give is A life saver.
I'm not directing this at you specifically, but there is something that I noticed a while ago and your post reminded me of it.
A lot of people who complain about areas being too tedious are under that impression because they don't know how to fight efficiently, which makes them spend way more time in an area than necessary. For example, the first area in my second map can easily be defeated in less than 2 hours, which is not very much considering there are multiple sub-areas and 5 different objectives.
That being said, I can still understand why some people don't like those types of maps in general. I'm just wondering why those people would download a map that has screenshots of giant areas below it and is advertised with the sentence "Are you looking for huge, challenging, heavily combat-oriented CTM maps?".
It's not so much that the map is bad, just that I don't enjoy it. I'm not usually the kind of person who gets into the meta-game and spends a lot of time on strategy in a video game. I typically use video games as a way to relax and chill out for a while, so I enjoy laid back CTMs more.
Despite me not enjoying what I've played so far, I'll admit there are a lot of map-making lessons to be learned from your maps, most importantly the importance of varied gameplay.
I've conquered VF1, Legendary and Pantheon, so I'll probably get around to finishing RC2 when I'm up for a long-term challenge and have a free weekend or two.
There ain't much left of the world these days. The gods have forsaken us, there's no denying that. But still you press on. For what? A chance to sift through the ashes one last time? The hope to one day be called a hero? Whatever your reason, you've got a lot of work to do. The corruption won't leave without a fight, so you better get started.
Here's an area I'll actually use in a full CTM, y'all happy?
*snip*
Looks pretty great, however I'd suggest adding a bit more detail to the walls in screenshot #1 (unless you're going for that clean look, which it looks like you might be).

Yeah, I am ^.^ I think that having the walls be messy would throw off the whole geometric, simple feel to it.
Are you ready...? I've actually gotten past the first area, woot!

18 challenging areas await you. With difficulty that
surpasses the hardest full maps out there, it is
most certainly an end-game for all CTMers..."
So... I know I'm late but on the topic of RageCraft 2. Heliceo has a... interesting way of making maps. He's very intimate about taking the game and pushing it to its limits. He often has VERY humongous areas which provide little room for air. When playing through the first area, which I basically just sprinted through, I realized that this map is designed for more than one player. Heliceo, confirmation please?
Anyways, on the topic of big open areas and more specifically Heliceo's first area. I feel that this area is extremely unbalanced for Singleplayer, and I also feel like Heliceo was a little bit inconsiderate about the amount of people that just play on their own. I, personally, enjoy getting areas in CTM maps done quick and I cannot stand to spend more than an hour or so on one area. However, on the CTM server, I play hours on end with no pause and am always busy and excited. On the other Hand, I also feel that Mojang has been making it harder and harder for CTM makers to balance out their maps, especially without adding specific options to turn off certain mobs. The skeleton update was not that big of a deal, but the zombies were big. It is still my opinion that zombies should be reverted back to their original state. As already stated perfectly by Vechs, zombies should be the "Goomba" of the game, and they are simply too hard to be on that level anymore. Now we have naturally spawning witches, which I feel was a big bite in the face from Mojang. The game is getting less customizable and even harder by the snapshot, which in turn is making it more difficult for mapmakers to come out with good content. Here's a simple fix for Mojang:
Get rid of the new zombies, they are hated by the community and are a very lackluster excuse for an addition to the game.
Get rid of natural witch spawns, or at least give witches a nerf!
And finally, actually add a new mob, instead of screwing around with old ones.
Sorry, I know this rant is in the wrong place at the wrong time. But I had to get it out.
Open areas are almost ruined with the new zombies. Heliceo, let me know if that area was made before 1.6, because even though your map is supposed to be very hard, I still think it deserves a minor nerf, it's just too difficult for beginner CTMers and people like me who don't like spending too much time in one area without making much progress. Just get rid of some spawners...

Hey there, all. I stream CTMs as well as other indie games, Minecraft servers and probably that's it. I'm your supreme overlord too so I command you to CHECK ME OUT: www.twitch.tv/techniclepanther
Actually, most maps - including RC2 - are easier in singleplayer. The map was balanced for 1.6.4 and one player. As I mentioned before, it is aimed at people who enjoy large areas and have some experience in CTM and minecraft combat in general, which is why it does not need a nerf at the moment (that might change when 1.7 comes out though). My beta testers, who are part of that target audience, thought that the map was balanced overall and even too easy in some places. If you are having too much trouble, try playing some easier CTM maps first and get back to it later. Amlup's UT3 is a good map to start with, it's pretty easy and not very large.
Thanks, sorry. My rant was directed less towards you and more towards Mojang. What I meant was that I get very lonely when playing a CTM map and much prefer to have company when playing. Have a good day!

Uhh, no offense, but you literally only had one sentence in that rant where you mentioned enjoying company, and then spiraled into a rant about mobs (which I wholesomely agree with, TBH).
Just popping in to announce the release of my minimap, Crystallized Caverns! Come download it here!
Difficulty: Hard
Minecraft Version: 1.6.2
Information:
Short and sweet, this mini CTM is a one block objective map, only requiring the redstone block to complete the monument. This doesn't mean it will be easy. With charged creepers, buffed ghasts, and tricky cave spiders, this map is a real challenge, forcing you to strategize and come up with clever ways to survive. Equipped with custom weapons and potions, you'll have to make your way through a dangerous yet sparkling cave system, where obstacles to be overcome are always just ahead.

Go to imgur.com and upload it to the site. Make sure you select the url code that says it's for forums. Then, copy and paste it into the post.
Or, you could find the Image URL and paste it onto the forums, then surround it with "img" at the end and the start. Note that the "img" should be in caps. I just made it lowercase so it would show up.

No, you're doing it all wrong. You have to first get the Image URL, which should end in ".png" or ".jpg" or something else with a dot, then just surround it with the "IMG"s.
