Hi,
I have recently started making a custom map and am having trouble with hostile mobs spawning inside my structures.
I don't want to light up my buildings because my map is supposed to be dark and scary.
Is there a way to keep aggressive mobs from naturally spawning but still allow them to spawn through egg/dispenser units?
Why don't you want aggressive mobs spawning? Why i ask is because they don't spawn that much really and the only mob you don't want in a map is creepers since they tend to blow everything up. But there is a fix for that now in the new snapshots, just use /gamerule mobgriefing off. it might be a capital letter in mobgriefing but look it up on wiki. In my map i have both spawners and dispensers, and the places where it is very dark i don't have either but i notice that it doesn't spawn very much there any way.
I want the player to only meet certain mobs at certain times.
As to the mob spawn rate, I am making my map in a superflat world so the spawn rate inside my structure is rather high.

On top of the blocks I have already placed or just as a floor?

The mobs are still spawning on the half slabs.
P.S. I am using MC 1.3.2 (the most recent one)
How do I change the biome? What program should I use?
I run windows 7 btw.
I'm just going to use redstone lamps that go dim when the mobs spawn.
