Two centures ago, Kune was discovered. A world teeming with strange magical properties. The core of its magical prowess is two polar opposites on the world called earthtides which exude a mysterious magical essence. The colonists of Kune began possess incredible knowledge of magic due to their exposure and study of these magical entities. They had begun to delve into magical portals the that led to unknown worlds. They named these the "nether" and the "end". Little did they know, it would lead to their inevitable downfall.
Now, it has been eight years since the closure and banishment of all persons from the bastions. Speculation, mystery and doubt still posses the villagers of Kune. New accounts of dark, tall, striking men with no eyes who burns down entire forests along the countryside with their pitch eyes.
Critical pieces of the Kune skyfortress are missing. Entire villages have vanished without a trace, being stolen within a blink of an eye. Powerful stones from the strongholds are being swept away in a veil. The world, it is changing. The creatures, the horrors, that were extinct years ago are resurfacing. The colonists governments, ignorant to these monstrosities have started a war with each other, trying to blame one another for faults that lie elsewhere.
KUNE: THE EARTHTIDE WAR
Kune, now torn in war over the Earthtides. Because of the opposing properties of the Earthtide Sun and Earthride Moon those that studied one believed the other to be lesser and devoid of honor. The war has been going on now for over a century. Forces are tired and finally the so called "endermen" have risen in a quest to annihilate all the colonists from their rightful world.
<---THE MAP--->
The Required Goals
Retrieve and collect all 12 eyes of ender to reseal the end portal and stop the total annihilation of Kune.
Collect six special stone bricks and then replace them in the legionary sky fortress.
Retake the lost strongholds of Kune and defeat all ender spawners in there.
The Optional Goals
<<<STARTING POINT, ALICANTE>>>
Take up the water buckets and extinguish the fire from burning down the city. +10
Use the bow from the lookout tower and shoot the center of the ender pods so they are no longer operational. +30
Find and collect all three golden apples. +3 each
<---NOTES--->
So, this is what I was thinking of including:
Adventure-- The new books would be used as notes and guidelines. Several small villages, outlining the region that you would have to travel too. A sky fortress, of sorts. A hint/guidance system - This would include, a fence, with a simple lever ontop, when pulled would reveal a map with a hint, or directions to your current quest. This would leave it entirely optional if the player would like to enlist this help. A boss battle - Which in a sense, could either be a final ender boss, or a large-scale dungeon of sorts with redstone, traps, and other miscellaneous things. A large-scale, limitless world. - Some smaller cities, spread out along the countryside, instead of just main critical cities, some other side dungeons. Side-Quests - Instead of just resolving the main quests, you can choose whether to do the side-quests, or you can finish the main quest. Which, would be entirely optional in the first place.
Survival/Creative--
The Main Quest/Goal of the Map - Most adventure maps, in fact every one I have seen, ends once you complete the main goal, there is no endless building afterwards, there are no other quests you can complete. I would like to keep this as open ended as possible, and not restrict it to this. Building Quests - Simple, a quest where you must repair, or build a structure, following guidelines that would be provided on a map. This would be a more survival/creative aspect. Also, you may have to mine, gather materials for these quests. Cities - Would not have any NPCs, since I have decided on no mods. However, they will have spaces for you to build, set up a camp, and have side-quests in them, to keep the game as open ended as possible.
So, now that you have read, or have just completely skipped over this, I am looking for help, as this would takes a few weeks, and a lot of effort by myself to complete. I am looking for the following, decent ideas for the map, actual help on the map, suggestions, comments, critique, etc;
This is really good, yes indeed. You know, I have thought something similar to your whole idea of "NO RESTRICTIONS" map. I've been working on a map where the map would still take the vanilla properties of MineCraft; Which is mining, building, venturing to new land, slaying mobs and etc. It would basically be Minecraft, but with an actual story-line set to it and side-quests implemented too. BUT, we're talking about YOUR IDEA. So yeah, I would love to help. Though, I don't know how the whole helping would work. Unless you plan to make a white-listed server.

Yeah, I was thinking of making it have some rules to stop people from ruining the adventure part of the map, while still giving the freedom. Like only breaking blocks in certain areas outside of the main storyline.
About a server, I may host one later on once I finish more of the project and once 1.3 comes out. Because currently I have to keep porting from 1.2.5 to the 1.3 snapshots, because I often find myself using worldedit and voxel sniper.

Yeah, I'll keep watch on this topic. This seems a great idea. Especially the new Adventure mode would be quite perfect for this. Although, you're map will sometimes be needed to break blocks for certain quests you think about. =(.

I wish in the adventure gamemode you could allow certain blocks to be placed/destroyed, because I need blocks to be destroyed/placed in my map.
Sound very nice. I rarely see maps with deep story lines. It's usually "I must retirve the Slime Ball before the Ender Dragon comes back!" (He never appear in the map). I would like to be a redstonner, I'm pretty good with redstone. RIP on my previous computer, I build a tic-tac-toe machine and a mini-boss fight that shoots arrows at random with 3 lives, and general Redstone Shinanigans. If you need a trailer, I can make you one too.
i would like to help!
It would be my first map i'll be helping on.
I'm great with redstone and i'm a pretty good builder.
I have too many free time so i'm able to help alot.
And if i'm not necessary i'll just test the map for you.
One question: Will we make this map in the new snapshot? (because stuff like tripwire, writable books and ender chest might come in handy.)
P.S. I'm great with MCedit so i'll be able edit villager shops, sand floating, biomes etc.
Ideas:
1. Make quest from where you get an item you're able to trade with a villager for 1 eye of ender
2. Place ender chests everywhere so you're able to put the items in a safe place when you're battling monsters.
3. Add hints to a villager shop which you can buy with the point items you find
4. Use adventure mode and use the minecraft with chest in walls to hide chest behind certain blocks
1. Make quest from where you get an item you're able to trade with a villager for 1 eye of ender
There is a problem with this, as you can trade multiple times for the eye of ender. 2. Place ender chests everywhere so you're able to put the items in a safe place when you're battling monsters
My idea was sort of a checkpoint in which there would be a bed, an enderchest and a place to store items temporarily so you would never really lose anything. 3. Add hints to a villager shop which you can buy with the point items you find
That's actually a really good idea, if I were to use sethblings filter and make certain maps into notes so you would have to obtain items for hints. 4. Use adventure mode and use the minecraft with chest in walls to hide chest behind certain blocks
No, I can't use adventure mode they're are building quests.
Yeah but i mean like he found a eye of ender but he lost a item which only has 1 item of it in the map. Like a Magma cream, diamond hoe or a cauldron etc.
And one more thing: Can i help or not?
Yeah, anyone is welcome to help once I finish more of the map.
