You took a chance. You put yourself a million dollars into debt to become the new owner of the Grand Museum. The building was finished, but the exhibits are missing! You need to purchase, collect, and construct large and small exhibits to encourage visitors to donate enough money that you can stay ahead of the loan payments and make a big profit for more projects!
It's a race against the debt collectors that you're sure to win if you can put up your exhibits fast enough. Your visitors can't get enough! They're throwing thousands of dollars at you! Some of the exhibits are going to be super easy, like pressing a button, but can you reconstruct an entire dinosaur skeleton? Or find the hidden pharaoh's tomb?
This map is filled with custom advancements, as well as sound and particle effects, to give you a finely polished and exciting game experience. You'll wonder how it was all done in Vanilla, and you may just learn a few tricks by looking around behind the scenes. Look me up on Twitter, @LRStrasburg, if you have questions or suggestions!

At this time I would like to highlight that there is a Dinosaur Egg Hunt for those in an Easter mood. There are 30 to be found, and they make roaring sounds to help give you a clue to their location.
I can't believe there are no responses to this! So much so, I had to sign up all over again for an account to respond (had an account on here in the beta originally, then had to create/merge a new one when it became curse, now it made me create a new account with twitch. Too old for this, lol.
This has to be one of the best maps I have ever played. I absolutely adored it, so did the other people I played it with. I wish there were more out there in this genre, but this has to be one of the more unique maps as there is nothing else around like this.
I don't respond about maps normally but yours is fantastic.
Im really enjoying your map just uploaded the first episode of my playthru to YouTube I had an issue though. After reloading the map I lost ALL the signs do you know of a fix for it? I really want to finish the map but the lack of signs makes it difficult Thanks!

Wow, there are comments at last! Sorry for not noticing sooner, it looks like I didn't have my notifications setup right so I had no idea until I just happened to stop by and take a look in here. I really appreciate your kind words, especially that glowing review that helped give the map some more attention, katewilds! I enjoyed putting this map together and I felt confident it would be really fun if people gave it a chance but after a few months without catching any interest, I didn't expect anything more would come up.
unfixingalloy133817, that is a bizarre glitch! Were you using 1.12.2 the whole time? Switching versions or some kind of mod compatibility issues are the only things I would expect to cause an issue like that. I don't think there is an easy fix You will want to be able to consult the signs so you know what artifacts go where, if nothing else. Your best bet is getting a new copy of the map and starting over. You can use commands to give yourself a head start to catch up to where you left off. By the way, do you have a link to that video? I'd love to watch it!
Sarium, I'm so pleased that you would like to make a Construct style game. There is so much potential and building is what Minecraft is all about! Unfortunately there aren't any tutorials... no one else has tried to make a Construct game that I'm aware of. You can see examples in a new copy of the Grand Museum map. Go into Spectator mode and look underground. Some of the commands will have signs on them that will explain what they do, like the Egyptian head. However, there are a lot of bells and whistles in Grand Museum that you don't really need for Construct (things like sound and particle effects and advancements). You just need one command that compares blocks from one place to another. You'll see pretty easy in Spectator mode that all of the things being constructed have a complete version of it underneath, then it's a "testforblocks" command to see if what the player made is the same as the finished version at the other location. Unfortunately, they took that command out in 1.13 (waiting for the new changes to the commands is what kept me from making another map already). In 1.13, they want you to use this instead:
/execute (if|unless) blocks <begin> <end> <destination> (all|masked) <chained command> executes a command if (or unless) the region between <begin> and <end> matches <destination>.
A really simple version of the 1.13 command could be:
/execute if blocks 1 65 1 2 66 2 4 65 1 all run say You did it!
All that does is check if all of the blocks between 1 65 1 and 2 66 2 are the same as the blocks at 4 65 1 (starting in the corner with the lowest number of coordinates and extending as far as the first square. In this case it's 8 blocks being checked.). Next, if it's a match, it runs the "say" command, which puts "You did it!" in the chat. There are some tricky things to worry about because blocks that *look* exactly the same are not always exactly the same in the data. It takes work, but you can do it! Thank you again for your interest!
I have been playing through this for the millionth time and was wondering, are there any plans of a sequel or anything? Because the normal genre of Minecraft map gets boring and tedious after a while and i really enjoyed playing this map because of the uniqueness of it, just a shame there isn't much to do after finishing the museum or anything
I'm happy to hear you've enjoyed it so much to keep playing it, but I'm bummed I don't have another one for you. I started working on an inventor's mansion map in the same vein as this but it will take a long time to finish, if I get it done against all of the competing demands on my time. Not as much time as I'd like to make games with in the first place, and there are so many games I'm interested in making. A sequel to The Albatross set entirely in space also appeals to me, or on Roblox I'd like to make a large-scale co-op game of de-haunting an abandoned carnival. I have the means to make a mobile game for a treasure hunt where you find clues and treasure in real world locations, or I could design another Halloween escape room. I still have some ideas about making a card game about an Enchanted Forest where you're trying to lure magical creatures in to live there, and sometimes there's nothing better than hanging out with a few friends for a classic tabletop roleplaying game (maybe about the war of ants in Central Park, or defending an anti-missile base against saboteurs during a massive assault).
But I'll admit, there's something I found particularly satisfying about this map that makes me want to put another "Construct" game on the top of the pile. If nothing else, I'd really like to see more designers try it out, and if I could get another hit, maybe I could get a movement started.
I had a feeling you didn't have another map like this, it has been almost 2 years since this was made, but if and when that inventors mansion is complete, i will be definitely playing that, I think I'm more upset that there aren't many (if any) construct maps out there, its a very cool map concept and I hope the map making scene picks up this genre soon, because this map is a real diamond in the rough, the only bad thing I have to say about it is it feels WAAAAAAAY too short of a map, like restoring a massive building like a museum should take more that an hour, at least, but the rest of the map itself is really well thought out and I look forward to your other maps in the future.

How do you buy food at the store in the museum courtyard?
stand on the pressure plate and click on the item you want to buy in chat
I just want to say how much fun I had playing this map.
I loved restoring the exhibits and I hope to play more of your maps!
