In this first installment of the "Trapped Chests" puzzle-map series, "Locked Inside" takes you - the player - into the enigmatic heart of a chest. You somehow got yourself locked inside it and must now find a way out before starvation sets in. Three floors, interacting puzzles: this map was designed to be both challenging and fun. I wish you luck in making your escape.
For fans of "Locked Inside", I am currently working on a sequel.
The second installment does not have a name yet, but it will certainly involve multiple chests, several more (complicated) puzzles, and maybe even a co-op/dual mode.
You may expect the sequel to be published here, on Planet Minecraft, and perhaps Minecraft Maps around when the Winter season begins.
In the meantime, feel free to try out "Locked Inside" and tell me what you would like to see for the next installment.
I started the map, and I was outside somewhere with an inventory full of random objects and a book; I put the book in my first inventory slot, and I immediately won. I think you may have forgotten to go to the start of the map and set the spawn there before you released this; I'm really looking forward to playing this, but I'm not sure where I'm supposed to start.

I spawned outside by two giant chests in creative and with a ton of stuff in my inventory. I think you may want to set the spawn point of the map to the spawn. I took a look around however and it looks like fun. I hope ill be able to play it in the future!

Thanks for letting me know and I am sorry for the bad experience. I believe I fixed the problem and have re-uploaded the file to MediaFire.
Please download it again from the top link to play "Locked Inside" V.2. ;-)
Hmm, weird. I downloaded it, played it a little. Then, got stuck at the first box. I took everything from the Frames, I made an Iron pickaxe, destroyed the Emerald, Diamond, Redstone and Coal block (Because the signs said I can break everything that's not wooden). Then, kept going around and searching, but nothing. Some help about what to do next would be much appreciated.

Here's a hint:
The chests on the bottom floor are trapped. As such, they emit a redstone charge. Pay attention to your surroundings when you open them.
Nice map; here's my "review" of it, which is pretty much just compliment and criticism.
This map was pretty fun; I didn't realize it would be that short. My biggest compliment for this map is that the redstone and command blocks are really well done; using the testfor for the book name was interesting, and the block puzzle was cool.
I have two criticisms for this map:
I didn't realize there would only be one puzzle in the map; this map would've been so much better if it had more puzzles. The puzzle that was there showed so much potential in terms of the redstone and command blocks that went into it, that if you made a full-blown puzzle map with many more puzzles, it would far exceed this one. For the length of the map, though, it was a great puzzle, I just wanted more out of a single map.
As fun as the puzzle was, you pretty much have to look up the answer to solve it. I had no clue the blocks were showing up when I opened the trapped chests until I gave up on the puzzle and checked the earlier post on how to solve it. Again, I love the redstone on that puzzle, it just needs to be easier to notice. Also, as for the item frames on the wall, I would do one of two things: either tell the player that they're not going to need all of the items, or only put item frames with items the player will need. I was worried that there was something I was missing with all of the item frames that I didn't realize that the whole puzzle was just opening the chests and looking around.
Also, just some advice as for the redstone, since I love command blocks and want to help reduce lag and unnecessary commands in the future:
Since the player is inside the chest the whole time, you don't need to have a clock running the /time command (the weather one is fine), just set it to change the time when the player wins, since that's the only time they're ever outside.
Alternatively, you can just do /gamerule doDaylightCycle false (capitalization is important), and then /time set day. That way, time won't move at all, and it'll be eternally day. It avoids having to use a clock for that; unfortunately, I don't know of anything that does that for the weather.
This one's not advice, but a question: what does the "/title @p times 20 100 20" command do? I didn't notice any title like that when I won, but I saw that command block; what does it do?
Overall, loved the map, and I'm looking forward to the next one (maybe the third one could be a double chest? )! Have a great day, and God bless!
To answer your question, the /title @p times 20 100 20 command specifies the title's and subtitle's fade in time (20 ticks), length of time on screen (100 ticks), and fade out time (20 ticks). I had to set these times because the default title appeared and disappeared too quickly for me - the player - to read all the text.

Thank you for bringing this problem to my attention. The error has been fixed and players should now start spawning correctly. The new download link is in the first description above, or here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/8pzmk8hz1d4duf1/Locked+Inside.zip

Oh, alright. This is getting even more interesting now.
Hi Fans!

Here is the outside of what "Locked Inside" looks like. :-)
Hi everyone!
Here is a sneakpeak on what being done for "Locked Inside II: Ender Chest."
I expect that the sequel to "Locked Inside" will be released sometime in August. :-D
Until then, I will try to keep y'all posted on all significant developments.

The Ender Chest was difficult to build because there aren't any blocks that really match its colors. Prismarine blocks were my only hope...
Thanks for all the support! "Locked Inside 2:Ender Chest" is going to be awesome! :-D
So, I am hearing that "Locked Inside" is a difficult map. Please try it and let me know if you agree. :-)

Happy New Year! I am nearly finished with Locked Inside II. It will feature numerous puzzles.
Stay tuned to its February release and also look out for Locked Inside III.
It snowed today... anyone else?
