Congrats, on another great map. I'm not the biggest fan of Open World maps but because your last map was so good, I gave it a try. And I'm not disappointed. It was laid out pretty much perfectly. I only skipped one dungeon, I think 2 led into 4, but I can't remember. Again the eating to regen is amazing and I wish all maps did that. The only area I hated was spider town, not because it was too hard, I found it pretty balanced. Spiders are just boring and that area needs a web breaker and a custom mob or two. On the note of custom mobs there needs to be more, a lot more. It might be harder, but it would be a lot more exciting. Also Also on the note of mobs thank you for not using Vexs they're extremely irritating when they hit you through walls and under the floor. The final two areas in the map are fantastic,well-designed and amazing looking. They might be one of my favorite areas in any CTM map. Before I forget, the lapis block was probably the hard block to get for me, because I didn't notice it where it was. So I thought I missed an area and went around the entire map only to find it two hours later. Maybe a friendly reminder in that room? Overall a great, well-designed and balanced map. I only died 6 times 3 of which were from creepers while blocking, thanks Mojang. I will be looking forward to your next map.

Great that you enjoyed it! I have already started working on Untold Stories 6 and I want to use a few more custom mobs. I replaced the vexes with zombies as I feel like they are terribly designed. Their horrendous hit detection, massive damage and phasing through walls are not fun at all.
Hey man! I played Goliath back in 2015 and i had an absolute blast with it, so i recently decided to play Corona Trials and Calamity Canyon, and i was not disappointed! Both maps are fantastic, Corona Trials is a great easy-to-play map for beginners with a nice difficulty curve and Calamity Canyon has a very good spin on the open world format, with an interesting setting and layout. Both aren't very long but they're great experiences and i'd recommend them to pretty much anyone looking to get into CTM maps.
The health system you're using is more interesting than the vanilla food system, at least for CTM maps. It makes the beginnings much faster and the fights are more fun, the fact that you can't rely on constant regeneration forces you to think about what you're actually doing, your stuff and how you use it.
I LOVED the aesthetics of both maps final zones, i won't spoil anything for those who want to play the maps, but i will simply say that those places scream "i'm the last place of this map and you're going to have a fun time here, enjoy the ride".
Let me say i 100% agree with you on the decision to replace vexes with zombies. On the last wools of Corona Trials, the vexes were not fun at all. Mojang needs to do a rebalancing of these mobs.
I've just two minor "complaints", just some stuff that you can improve if you want : don't hesitate to make custom mobs, even if they aren't too special. For example, in Corona Trials the mineral mobs, i liked them a lot. They're just skeletons with a custom appearance and different stats/enchants, but they're enough to provide a lot of welcomed variety. Sometimes, instead of putting just a vanilla zombie/skeleton spawner, giving them custom armor and head will make the place much more interesting.
In the same fashion, variety in loot goes a long way to make exploration more fun and exciting. Sometimes on the maps you get classic, vanilla tools or armor. It's fine, but what if, instead of putting say iron armor, you were to place more "unique" lower tiers of enchanted armor? For example i liked the duragold armor and tools, that was a nice idea. The more variety there is, the better the map becomes, in my opinion.
Anyway, i'm now going to play BigLeaf Forest and Myriad Caves, and i can't wait for Untold Stories VI! Thanks for producing some of my favorite CTM maps, keep going dude!
Oh and i hate self-promotion, but i also recorded my playthrough of both maps, like i did for Goliath back in the days. It's in french, and Calamity Canyon is currently ongoing, here is a list to the playlist if you're interested. Corona Trials will begin as soon as Calamity Canyon is over, in like three weeks or so.
Just finished the map. and first thing first. This map was amazingly well done! it felt pretty balanced. It rewards exploring and i really like how skeletons don't spawn naturally. Another thing i like is how evokers don't spawn vex but instead spawn zombies. (finally wont get 2 shot through walls/floors even with protection 4 diamond armor, like in other CTM maps)
I died a total of 12 times, mostly from creepers while i had my shield up long enough. (Thanks Mojang) some traps weren't that hard to spot, but the harder to spot ones gave you at least enough time to run away or block. i really liked this and made me feel like anything could be a trap.
I didn't really fellow the dungeon order, which is fine in a map like this one. i did area 4 before area 3 because i spotted the overlapping parts of the dungeon 2/4. i died a bunch of times in area 4, but had no deaths and stomped area 3 because of this. i also skipped area 7 and did area 8 first because i couldn't find it. Also the Lapis is really hard to find. i only found it because i searched it up. and when i found out where is was i face palmed because i have been literally there a couple of times when trying to spot for any loot. Also i liked how there are 10 emeralds in this map, just in case you lost one.
I liked the sense of having to build multiple "outposts" to prevent having to run back to the monument each time. (area 5/6*) and i like the frequent amount of shortcuts.
There is a only 1 thing i disliked about this map: i wish there we more wools / area's because this map was so much fun to play! (and i dislike how to there was a certain chest hidden with certain supplies at the monument)

Oh man, I remember just watching some of the videos back in the day. Great to see you again! While my French isn't that 'magnifique' the videos were hard to watch but still pretty entertaining. Really excited that you are playing some of my newer, higher quality maps. I think you will enjoy Myriad Caves a lot as well. (it might have a little something-something you might like...) Bigleaf Forest is probably my 'worst' map, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun. I will definitely check some of the more exciting parts of the videos out!
I have been thinking of toying around with custom mobs and some more special items, but I do like the more vanilla, minimalistic loot where you don't get an overwhelming amount of custom items. I would like to add some more unique ones, though, and I already have some pretty little things in store for Untold Stories VI that will add some variation.
While I do like custom mobs, I don't like the idea of a new texture on the same zombie. So if I make custom mobs they will have their own purpose and or gameplay element. I hope the new phantom mob is fun to fight as well as I want to use those as well. Hope to see you around! People should definitely take a look at your videos!

Great that you enjoyed Calamity Canyon! I was a bit scared people might find the map too short, but most people liked the shorter size and some even found it to be the perfect size for a CTM map. This won't mean all of my maps will have this length, as Untold Stories VI already seems to be bigger than this map, but I will probably not make some of these ridiculously 'goliath' maps like Goliath and Myriad. It's mainly the size of the areas that can be a bit of a slog and might ruin the pacing of the map, causing people to lose interest.
Having lost the urge to play Minecraft after a few years I decided to give Corona Trials a go. Well the urge to play immediately returned!
Your creations are beautiful and the gameplay is super fun. My wife and I played through together and loved every minute. Being total noobs to maps and CTM we made plenty of mistakes but it did not affect the enjoyment. We couldn't complete the monument because I was carrying all the wool when blown up in the creeper trap at Aurora Valley (noob mistake). Nonetheless we went right through and are amazed at the amount of work put in to your maps. We went straight to Calamity Canyon and completed that yesterday with a full monument! Love the fallen turrets when viewing from above. Do you use some sort of tool to assist in the creation of your landscapes and buildings? Thanks to you creating a map is now on my bucket list. I could rant forever as there is so much magnificence in your work. We will tackle Myriad next and look forward to your next creation! Should we play in 1.9 or 1.10?
Just finished Calamity Canyon and I am thoroughly impressed!
The map was difficult yet not frustrating, which is a balance I had yet to experience in CTM maps and getting rid of the hunger system really benefits the map type.
Keep up the good work, this has me considering making CTM maps of my own!

Any idea what the issue is or what a fix would be? I don't really want to continue through the dungeon if I'm not getting the drops that I'm supposed to be.
Great map either way. Cheers.
That is an issue on my side. Was too lazy to replace the loot table to an empty one when I placed all the spawners. They aren't supposed to drop anything in Calamity Canyon.
Whilst taking a break from Goliath we played Bigleaf. The map is much shorter than the others and we finished it in a few days. Very enjoyable and recommended.
Just finished Calamity Canyon - what a fantastic map! I found the areas to be the perfect length, and the last few dungeons were challenging enough to feel difficult, without being an annoying slog. My favorites were Dungeons #5 and #7, although #6 deserves honorable mention just for appearing so menacing from a distance. I was legitimately terrified just walking over there! This is definitely my favorite CTM map I have played, hands down.
I'm playing Calamity Canyon with a couple of friends in a server, and I just want to say how awesome it is. I had an issue with other CTM maps (including Corona Trials) where some dungeons were way too long and the whole thing just felt disconnected, but Calamity Canyon is just perfect; we can do a dungeon per play session, and the whole thing feels like a cohesive whole instead of a bunch of different maps put together. I would love to play more maps like this.
Hey, I've been playing Myriad Caves, and I noticed an issue starting with the forbidden cliffs: I can't die. Every time I take damage, I get instant health and it won't actually let me take any damage. It's like I'm perpetually eating forever even though I'm not? How do I fix this, if I can?
Hey Render! I haven't played Minecraft in years but I just got back into it and started playing ctm maps again. One of the first series I found was yours and I started played Corona Trials and I'm loving it! I'm maybe 3 hours in and I can already tell I will probably play all the maps in the series. What order would you recommend to play the maps in for a rusty old player?
I've played all of render's full maps- this is what I've got for easiest to hardest maps
(Easy to Hard)
1. Bigleaf forest (broad, open, and the dungeons are all pretty easy)
2. Corona Trials (great for beginners and overall really fun)
3. Goliath (lengthy and honestly, at times, tedious; difficulty comes in the form of more and more mob spawner spam)
4. Myriad Caves (my favorite, pretty challenging overall and resources are mildly scarce)
5. Calamity Canyon (incredibly scarce resources, tough dungeons, and each death is punishing)
I'm just going to say calamity canyon is the best ctm map I have ever played keep up the great work.
We also started a playthrough and we're having a great time so far! Here's episode one:

Hi render
CHEERS
Just finished Calamity Canyon and I am thoroughly impressed!
The map was difficult yet not frustrating, which is a balance I had yet to experience in CTM maps and getting rid of the hunger system really benefits the map type.
Keep up the good work, this has me considering making CTM maps of my own!
